    • just as Martin answered I am shocked that a mom can earn $6097 in 4 weeks on the computer. pop over to this website>>> FB39.ℭOⅯ

    • Easy to ask…perhaps hard to answer. IHMO a resounding “I dont’ know”.

After monitoring the lefty family Facebook chatter, still not one word about Obamacare. And it has been a miserable time of it not asking so as not to taint the data. It’s a deep rooted case of Obamacardenfruede*.

Anyway, based on zero data points, one hypothesis is that they have figured it out and so are not saying anything because there is nothing good to say. Another possibility is that they remain as uniformed as before. Based on the Martin Bashir reporting on the LSM, I’m leaning towards the latter. So no, I do not think they have discovered he is an empty suite.

*O•bam•a•car•den•freu•de. Noun, often capitalized\ oh-bom’-a-chär-dən-ˌfrȯi-də\.: a feeling of enjoyment that comes from seeing or hearing about the health insurance troubles of people who voted for Obama or supported Obamacare.

      • I often hear the ABC hourly news report on the radio. They have many times reported excitedly about some new “success” of the Obamacare website, and about the huge, huge numbers who have supposedly signed up on the state and federal exchanges. But I have never — not once — heard ABC radio news say anything about the millions of policy cancellations, or the millions of doubling or tripling premiums.

It’s hard to believe that no one who writes news for ABC radio has heard about those hardships, so I have to conclude that ABC wants no part in disseminating that information.

      • I don’t feel pleasure in hearing about this–I bought indiv insurance for myself and family for over 30 yrs–and had many weird lashups. It’s hard–and now horrible.

          • I have been on Medicare for four years–HMO…no problems. I had a supp for a couple of mos–but it was expensive. I take 3 generics. But I am sure they will soon get around to clamping down on us, too…with some ill-considered stuff. The only thing so far is the rush to hospice–you look a little pale, this is free, this is free, step right up.

          • Humana/Walmart has a Part D plan for $12.60/month. I take only one generic, which costs about $5/month. The problem with Part D is the each provider does not have set Tiers and the costs can vary even in the middle of the year. It’s an annual crap shoot. I shop throughout the year for the best supplemental premiums, since the insurers are always looking for new business.

          • Yeah–you MUST have a drug plan even if you don’t take drugs. This stuff is making me sick! I read that on some O-care plans, the platinum is a better deal drugwise than the bronze. It depends on the drugs you take–Humira can be $5K a mo! Platinum plans cap it–something like that…I dunno. I tend to get MEGO (my eyes glaze over).

          • I’ve had the supplemental since the start. I take
9 RX one cost $700 a month if I had to pay and
2 costly eye drops. Generally I hit the hole about
Oct so there’s no cost but not this year it cost me
$6.60 a month. I still have the same supplemental plans they didn’t change not even the rate and that worries me a lot.

  1. I have icicles on my butt. Not really, but after the ice storm, I have them everywhere else. And, they’re not going away any time soon. I had to pour boiling water on my bird feeder, dump it and then dry it before I refilled it.

Speaking of birds, FCMABBHO is just fine with killing bald eagles if it helps another one of his pet projects, wind farms. If it weren’t for AP, he’d be getting away with it. From Newser:

The Obama administration said today it will allow some companies to kill or injure bald and golden eagles for up to 30 years without penalty, in an effort to spur development and investment in green energy while balancing its environmental consequences. The change, requested by the wind energy industry, will provide legal protection for wind energy companies that obtain a permit and make efforts to avoid killing the birds.

    SNIP

An investigation by the AP earlier this year documented the illegal killing of eagles around wind farms, the Obama administration’s reluctance to prosecute such cases, and its willingness to help keep the scope of the eagle deaths secret.

    SNIP

    http://www.newser.com/story/178786/feds-to-let-wind-farms-kill-bald-eagles.html

        • I think his donors got tired of the fines, so BO fixed it for them. He’s a nice guy like that, if you’re a zillionaire.

Notice how quiet the environmental extremists are? You know the ones who chain themselves to trees to save endangered owls’ habitats ?

          • Isn’t this the ultimate irony? BO is pitting one set of greenies against another! Why do the permits have to have a 30-year life, anyway? Can you imagine what this will do to the golden and bald eagle populations? We finally got the bald eagle off the endangered species list, and now this. I guess our new national symbol will be the hammer & sickle – – not susceptible to wind turbine blades.

          • Isn’t Obama’s concern not the ecological environment but guaranteeing big bucks for his cronies? Which comes first, the crony or the bird?

          • You betcha’. Party before Country. Obama definitely lacks common sense with all his pivots.

What really worries me his cronies are putting pressure on him to use the EO to raise the minimum wage to $15 and to forgive college loans in exchange for the young people to sign up for Ocare.

        • Agreed. Imagine if the press had done actual reporting before he ran in 2008. The bald eagles were removed from the endangered species list in 2007. One of another more troubling aspects is the over-reach into the future of 30 years. It gives all of us a clear signal that even once he’s gone, the stench and policies will linger to haunt us.

        • Wouldn’t that disrupt the flow of the wind if the holes were small enough to repel the birds? What if a bird got its talons caught in the net?

        • I read somewhere that the newer turbines have solid, rounded tops which keeps birds from getting stuck. Also, they’re making the rotations slower and placing them outside of migratory routes.

Nothing, as far as I’m concerned, is good enough – unless they ban all of them. Back in the 80’s, wind farms were sold as limited partnership tax shelters for the wealthy here in CA. They generated enough electricity to boil a cup of water. I suppose today they are capable of doing more, but at what cost?

      • This story just sickens me, Denise. I guess this is one area in which I’m still a prog, a sense that humans have a responsibility to care for the animals.

    • Bummer on the ice storm. Where I grew up as a kid, we had the most magnificent ice storms. Mom always called them Silver Thaws. Beautiful, until the power goes out.

        • Lizzy, you reminded me of the time I lived in Michigan. It was a terrible winter. I was in my car, running the engine to warm it up, before going off to work. I put the radio on to keep me company and listened to the morning news – “Today’s high will be 5.” When the temperature, eventually hit freezing at 32 degrees, it felt like a heat wave.

          • No kidding it’s so cold it’s not I did remember to drip the
faucets one time I forgot never again. We might get to 22
later before it goes down again yippie!

      • The town reduced the likelihood of powerlines being knocked down by limbs by hacking at trees near the lines. A lot of people didn’t like it, but it’s worked so far. I’ve not ventured out yet to see how many limbs are down. I’ve about seven acres of trees on 10 acres total. A tornado hit a few years ago and it cost about $40,000.00 to clean up things.

I remember going out when it was snowing in Denver when the trees had leaves on them. I’d bundle up my head and bang on the limbs with a broom to knock off the snow so that the trees wouldn’t be damaged. But, you can’t do that with ice.

        • Here I am and we did get a hit…could have been worse as we had more snow than ice. It was seven degrees when we got up this morning.
We are low on firewood and my husband got his ATV stuck last night when going for more…thank goodness our power is still on and we have heat.
He is Volunteer Fire Chief for our community. Yesterday an elderly couple called 911 for help for the husband and the hospital ambulance could not reach their home. My husband and two others took a brush truck to their home, put the elderly man in it and drove him up to where the ambulance could load him on. We are hoping for no more call outs but they could surely happen. More snow predicted to night.
On the bright side, it is beautiful beyond words. We live on five acres surrounded by woods. Our Sheltie is having a ball today.

          • Glad you’re ok annie, thanks for the update.

My son’s in Denver, snow and single digits. He went out to shovel the lawn so the dachshunds would go out to potty, but they pretty much laughed at him for even thinking they would go OUT. :D

    • Just a little bit of trivia on the term “Folk”.

In Chicago, many, many years ago a group of gangs, led by Larry Hoover, the leader of the Black Gangster Disciples, formed an alliance called the “Folk Nation.” The alliance was between the Black Disciples, Gangster Disciples, La Raza Nation, Spanish Cobras, Latin Eagles, Imperial Gangsters, Maniac Latin Disciples, Simon City Royals, and the Spanish Gangster Disciples.

The other side of the gang alliances are the “People Nation.” The People Nation was formed in Chicago as a response to the Folk Nation, by El Rukns. The gangs involved with the People Nation were: the Vice Lords, Black P. Stones, Latin Kings, Gaylords, South Side Popes, Spanish Lords, Insane Unknowns, Latin Counts, Mickey Cobras, and the Four Corner Hustlers.

Folks us the six-point star (Star of David?) as their symbol, whereas People us the five-point star (a symbol that is used in the star and crescent of Islam).

Is Obama’s use of the term “Folk(s)” a throw back to his days of working on the south side of Chicago, in Folk and People infested areas of the city? And is it tied to some past relationship to and with Islam as a child?

      Inquiring minds need to know!

    • Sheesh, me, too. The word “folks” used to mean your family, didn’t it, as in “John must be serious about Jane, he’s taking her to meet his folks”. Drives me nuts. Bill O’Reilly does it, too, and it bothers me when he does it because he should know better!

  2. I turned on the hot tub this past week as Norcal experienced a very cold streak and when I went to climb in I saw a frog, dead on the bottom of the tub. Poor thing could have jumped out at any time until he finally succumbed to the heat. Reminded me of the nearly 50% of the American people who support this administration. How long will people go along with Obama’s and the Democrat’s “transformation” of our nation? Unless the other 50% plus who do not support radical “change” speak out with their votes in 2014 and 2016 our future is not much brighter than that frog.

In answer to your question Keith, not until their relatives are denied life saving care by the “death panels” or Iran explodes a nuke hidden in a ship in New York harbor, the people who support Obama will follow him to the bottom of the tub. Whether or not the emperor has clothes. Such is the way of true believers and “kool aid” drinkers.

  3. Last week I unsuccessfully tried to post about an article in our local paper by George Will “Wisconsin’s Action Governor” It was worth reading and made Scott Walker look to me like a possibility for 2016. Someone on Fox was saying that governors make the best presidents because they have had the experience of running and managing a state. I think Walker qualifies in that department.

  4. Point to remember, 72 years ago, this morning, the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor. The nearly two hour attacked killed 2335 US military personnel, and 68 civilians, wounding 1143 military, and 35 civilians.

Is the President going to make some sort of comment(s) today in recognition of and in memory of this date that will live in infamy?

  5. Repeating a thought I’ve seen in other sites: why do the Obamacare insurance policies insist on including what should be gender specific coverage?
Why force men, or those past childbearing age to pay for coverage for maternity or female medical issues? Forcing everyone to buy this coverage is part of the hostitlity towards the law and isn’t really necessary.

In the same mode, why force religious groups to provide services that are offensive to them? It wouldn’t be that big a deal if an employer refused to pay for contraceptive coverage for it’s employees and would have avoided the current legal conflict.

    • It’s part and parcel of the totalitarian mindset, srdem. The state decides what’s best for us, and it’s a whole lot easier to control us if there is one set of rules for everybody. The commie John Dingell told us what was in store for us the day Obamacare was signed into law by the fraudster-in-chief.

“Paul W., we’re not ready to be doing it, but let me remind you, this has been going on for years. We are bringing it to a halt. The harsh fact of the matter is when you’re going to pass legislation that will cover 300 American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.” Emphasis added.

      http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2010/03/24/john_dingell_says_obamacare_soon_will_control_the_people

    • Obama promised free ‘ice cream’ for every young woman between the ages of 21 and 45. All of his campaign bribes targeted women – free contraceptives, mammograms, breast pumps, pre-natal; neo-natal; pediatric dentistry, etc. He knew he couldn’t pay for it unless he used OPM – other people’s money. And he knew no one would be crazy enough to vote for such a cockamamie deal…so he lied his head off. ‘If you like your plan….etc.’
      In a word….we were ‘Fluked’!

As far as religious groups are concerned, my guess is he was aiming at the Catholic church. I still can’t figure out why he despises Catholics. Unless it has something to do with MO’s remark while still in Chicago: “We need to get rid of all the damn Catholics’ …a reference to the Daley machine.

The icing on the cake is the exemption for Muslims!

    • Democrats force people to buy coverage they can’t ever need, at much higher prices than they were formerly paying, and probably can’t afford, and then say, “No problem, your kindly Democrat government will give you a subsidy so you’ll finally have affordable care!”

Except you might not get a subsidy after all. And you’ll probably have a tough time finding a doctor to provide actual care. Whereas previously you could get the doctor AND afford to buy the insurance yourself.

The genius of Democrats at work.

  6. With the 2014 mid-term primaries right around the corner, it looks like the Tea Party movement will have a big fight on their hands. Not only will we have to do battle with the Democrat party, but with the establishment Republicans as well.

After 36 years in office, 76-year-old Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran has decided to run for reelection next year. What’s with these old geezer beltway Republicans that they refuse to accept the fact that the Democrats are destroying our country, and they have lost the stamina or gumption to fight them back? Heck, maybe they don’t want to fight back. Maybe they are satisfied with the table scraps the Democrat party leaves for them and to heck with their constituents. I just know we’re going to have a hard time dislodging these fossils from their seats of power.

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/12/06/Mississippi-bloodbath-Cochran-seeks-reelection-against-Tea-Party

    • I’m a non-affiliated Oregonian, and as a retiree I’ve got a limit on what I can spend, but I’ve decided at least $50 each to McConnell’s opponent Bevin and Graham’s (runoff) opponent and $50 each to Mike Lee and IA Rep. Steve King who will be under attack from the Republican establishment. That leaves a lot of others I’m leaving uncovered, but I hope we will all pick our favorites and favorite targets and get them all covered.

      • Times are especially hard for us retirees who live on a fixed income. With the increased costs of living and energy prices “necessarily skyrocketing”, there is not much mad money to throw around to our candidates these days. There are other ways we can help – dropping campaign literature and phone calls, but it sure would be nice if liberty-minded young people joined in and gave us a hand. They are the generation we are fighting for.

      • I think that the Obama administration is going to pull out all the stops going into next years election.
If they lose the senate and fail to take the house back, Obama will have to resort to EO’s to get his agenda through.
With his current poll numbers, that may just be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
With the employer mandates in the wings, more people will be affected by the ACA.
It is going to get interesting.

  7. Andrew McCarthy has a good piece on impeachment in NRO this morning. McCarthy has come up twenty floors in my opinion of him. He used to be associated with James Comey and Patrick Fitzgerald, both careerists imho with all the political accomodation that involves, but he has consistently revealed himself to be a true conservative.

    • Thank you for the info, Julie. It is an excellent article by Mr. McCarthy. He is absolutely right. With the Republicans refusing to use the power of the purse to stop the lawlessness of this regime, impeachment is the only option left to us.

Also agree with your assessment of his conservatism. The effort of Senators Cruz and Lee to defund Obamacare has certainly separated the wheat from the chaff so to say. It forced the establishment to take the side of liberty or tyranny. I am pleased that Mr. McCarthy chose the side of liberty.

      http://www.nationalreview.com/article/365742/impeachment-lessons-andrew-c-mccarthy

  8. From the Free Beacon. Clinton: Mandela Helped Me Forgive GOP for Impeachment. Lordy, they politicize everything and hold nothing sacred. Mandela is not sacred to me, but I thought he was to them.

    • Some personal history, second hand:
My dear Mother was a young secretary working at a plumbing supply company in Pittsburgh, PA the next day. They listened to radio reports of the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, and of the thousands of Americans killed there. She said they all wondered where in the world was “Pearl Harbor” then.

By the end of the week, thousands of men of all ages in the area were signing up to join the military.
She said..”our lives were never the same after that”.
She married the man who would be my father after he completed basic training.
Their wedding photo is one of my favorite momentos:
the young woman in a business suit, the young man in his uniform soon to be sent overseas.

      • My poor dad couldn’t wait to sign up to fight. He tried every branch but he was greeted with the dreaded 4F he had only one
kidney. So he went to California and built airplanes his brother
was a pilot. My mom made gun powder. After my parents got
married he got a draft notice but still no poor guy.

    • We should always keep in mind that all our military are at risk for our sakes as those unsuspecting servicemen at Honolulu were on December 7, 1941.

    • They changed too much of the musical to suit me, such as using the wrong songs in certain scenes or cutting scenes altogether. Although they did make the Goadherd song work for the scene during the thunderstorm, with the kids peeking out from under the bed and all, that song should have been My Favorite Things. That got the whole evening started off wrong for me. Overall, I enjoyed the music and thought Carrie Underwood did well.

  9. i was married for five years with out any child, because of this my husband

  10. My grandfather served in WWII in Japan. He passed just over 10 years ago. I was the eldest grandaughter, tried all my life to learn about his experience in the War. He never shared his nightmare. My grandmother passed just 3 yrs ago. A notebook was found by my mom, she gave it to me. I tucked it away thinking it was just a reminder book, library books due, things to do for the day, etc. I pulled it out a couple of weeks back and started to skim though the notebook. I cried within the book, were things he jotted done about different things. One thing stood out. I wrote down the day he came home, said he flew back to CA with a buddy he served with that was from our home town. They both flew home, and he jotted down his love for my grandmother.
There were a couple of more notes, I just wanted you to understand, it was my family history in writing. I cried like a baby, just picturing my very young grandfather coming home alive and see his beautiful wife. My grattidue to all Vets, sorry I am a day late of the anniversary of Pearl Harbor. We must not forget

      • Definitely–like all generations of soldiers. My mother and her sister took a 16 mm film of me at 8 mos getting a bath. My dad was a doctor on a destroyer in the Pacific–at the end of the ship’s movie, he asked them to play the film for him–and all the men stayed and many cried, missing their families and kids some had never seen yet and might never see.

  11. What a wonderful gift Keith gives us with these open threads. I feel I’ve gotten to know more about many of you through the news and personal stories you share. I especially enjoyed the cat thread yesterday as we had 4 of those wonderful creatures. They’ve all crossed the Rainbow Bridge but their memories are oh, so sweet. I also enjoyed the personal stories about Pearl Harbor Day. Thank you for sharing.
