WSJ Accuses Holder of “Racial Politics”

by Keith Koffler on October 8, 2013, 11:24 am

Pretty blunt for the Wall Street Journal.

According to an op-ed by the WSJ editors running today, Attorney General Eric Holder is suing states over their voting rights laws in order to gin up black voter turnout.

All the evidence suggests that Mr. Holder’s real motive here is political. Portraying voter ID laws as racist helped to drive Democratic voter turnout among minorities in 2012, and the White House wants a repeat in 2014. Never mind if the suits eventually fail in court. The goal is to elect more Democrats in the meantime, even if it means needlessly increasing racial polarization.

As you may know, Holder is taking legal action against certain Southern states to get their voting procedures back under federal control after the Supreme Court ruled in June that the 1965 Voting Rights Act requirement that they get pre-clearance from the feds is no longer necessary, since THERE’S LESS RACISM today.

But Holder doesn’t think we’ve made it very far, and so he’s exercising a provision of the Act that allows him to sue states and reinstitute pre-clearance if he can prove their laws ARE INTENTIONALLY RACIST.

The Journal dismisses as mere smokescreen the contention that voter fraud doesn’t exits.

The worst argument against such laws is that they must be racially motivated because there is so little evidence of voter fraud. Yet no less that former Justice Stevens said in his opinion in the Indiana case that “flagrant examples of such fraud in other parts of the country have been documented throughout this nation’s history by respected historians and journalists, [and] that occasional examples have surfaced in recent years.” Anyone who thinks voter fraud doesn’t exist hasn’t lived in Chicago or Texas, among other places.

Instead of using the election of the nation’s first African America president to further promote racial healing and unity, President Obama has his trusty sidekick are employing their powerful positions to reinflame antagonisms. For political gain. Very sad.

How observant of the mouthpiece for big business to notice that MrHolder’s actions aren’t exactly impartial in the area of ‘voter’s rights’.
Why, yes, it seems that the Justice Dept’s actions might be hiding sinister motives and be promoting racial hatred.

Where was the WSJ when the Justice Dept took Arizona to court for the very same issue, where was their editorial supporting a state trying to keep illegal aliens from voting? Every liberal news medium in the US was scouring my state with screams of “racism”, and Dems promoted a somewhat sucessful boycott of anything from Arizona.

Today, our State Att General announced that Arizona will now have a two-tiered voting roll as per the Supreme’s illogical decision on the suit pressed by the Justice Dept. One tier of voters who provide ID will vote as usual, those who enroll in a Federal voters list without providing ID may only vote in Federal elections. Arizona will provide two different ballots on election day. Is this nutty?
This is insanity on every level. Every poll shows approval of the voter ID laws. Showing one’s ID is the norm today, not the exception.
Insanity.

How typical of government. They take something as simple as showing your id to vote and turn it into a big production. It is why we are in such dire straits today.

It is frightening. We live in an all white area and have voted in the same small precinct for thirteen years. We know all of the poll workers and voters and they all know us. We still have to show a photo ID and do not mind doing it.
Holder is a mean man who was found in contempt of Congress. He should be out of government instead of continuing to harass the folks.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

It appears America has reason to be very concerned about the content of some of its leadership’s character.

Nothing is too loathsome for this administration to do if it means retaining power.
I continue to be amazed that people do not see this, especially since the people love to scream about the “fairness” of everything, leveling the playing field and all that kind of claptrap.
How does this type of garbage not figure into their idea of fairplay?

Do you think he will take a question from Ed Henry or Jonathon Karl?

I don’t believe the left’s suppression of voter ID laws is solely to gin up the black vote. It’s just a natural progression for them. The Democrat party has been working long and hard to corrupt and debase America’s voting process. They’ve been on the long march, going all the way back to Clinton’s Motor Voter Act – the signing of which was attended by the authors of the law Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.

You are right that the left’s suppression of voter ID laws isn’t solely to gin up the black vote. It is their way of supporting groups such as ACORN which is still funded illegally by the way, who exist to flood elections offices with as many fraudulent voter registrations as possible to overwhelm the staffs so that some will get on the voter rolls and cast illegal votes. It is also their way of keeping the flame of racism on the forefront which keeps their base riled up and the campaign donations flowing.

The Great Pumpkin will be voting next year! Thanks, ACORN!

Judicial Watch has exposed the truth that the Justice Department under Obama and Holder is a department of racist, anti-Constitutional, anti-rule of law, Alinsky-Chicago thugs.

Well Obama are requires ID so how is that different than voting?
