As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Lew Refuses to Say How Many Signed Up for Obamacare

Score another one for the openness administration.

This is from Fox News Sunday. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew clearly knows about how many people have been able to sign up for Obamacare, but he won’t tell.

This is a pretty disgraceful amount of obfuscation from a Treasury Secretary, who is not supposed to be a political hack. But Lew was put in his position not because he has any particularly knowledge about finance, but because Obama could rely on him to behave just like this.

At least Chris Wallace makes him pay the full price for hiding information from the public.

  1. The Brits call the toilet a loo.
I watched enough of that interview to see what a lying snake he is.
Does he still sign his name like a kindergarten scribble ?

      • spook and rex, you guys are cracking me up! if Bush had said either of those things, they would have ended up on a daily “W-isms” calendar. Obama? oh, he was probably tired.

and don’t forget my personal favorite: “…my Muslim faith–”

        (Interviewer): Your CHRISTIAN faith.

        (Obama): Yes–yes, my Christian faith.

      • this is a term they use in web advertising and site analytics. “unique” visitors are different people, as opposed to “visitors” who could be coming back to the site for the 3rd time that day.

the more uniques you have, the more you can charge for advertising b/c the more viewers you have.

      • To add to rulierose’s answer – they track by IP address, which we know the NSA can do ;)

Lew is nothing more than another mouth piece for obama. I have more respect for the S. Carolina congressman that yelled out “You’re a liar” during that obama joint speech. Might not have been the most appropriate place/time, but call a liar a liar. I’m fed up and exhausted from all of the liars in that administration. Worse than Clinton’s.

  2. I’ve got vertigo listening to Lew spin. The chutzpah, “You’ve asked the wrong question.” It would have been more honest to say, “Ask me no questions, I’ll tell you no lies.”

Lew has had lots of practice dodging answers. Anyone remember this exchange regarding Lois the Fifth Lerner.

    • The verbal dodges drive me crazy, and the network time constraints make it easier for these weasels to duck the questions and slither away from a real answer.
      Answer the damn question !

      • Answer the damn question ! WOW. Wouldn’t that make for a great segment. I stopped watching Dodge Ball Q&A ages ago. There’s enough hot air being blown to call out the fire department for smoke inhalation.

  3. Two from California who admitted they signed up were shocked at their bill for the health care. Nothing is ever free guess they figured that out now.

  4. Obama has a talent for picking the smarmiest foot soldiers on the planet. What a condescending, smug, lying worm. Kudos to Wallace for giving him a great smack-down.
He turned my stomach a couple of years ago when he appeared on Charlie Rose with a new catch phrase – ‘doing violence’. Instead of accusing the GOP of something like ‘hurting’ the economy, for instance, he kept reiterating that they were ‘doing violence’. It went on for an hour. He is Obama’s lackey, alright!

  5. It shouldn’t be a surprise that he doesn’t know the figures. We can be sure he didn’t ask for them, and if anyone attempted to tell him, he started singing la-la-la-la. .
The actual number, if any at all, would be embarassingly low, and miles away from what the coo-coo optimists at HHS hoped for.

As this tragic behemoth was shaped into 20,000 pages of rules and regulations, it was assumed that it would collapse under it’s own weight, but now it seems it’s too unwieldy to ever get up and moving.
Now that the public is aware of personal security concerns, many are hesitant to apply online, forcing a major change in enrolling the millions who must have insurance coverage.

There’s also the realization that people in certain states will have more expensive insurance than those who live elsewhere. Also, knowlege of a wierd four-tiered program that favors the poor and the rich, but forces the middle class to foot the majority of the program is not helping.

  6. I enjoyed it immensely when Lew defiantly pointed his finger at Wallace and said “do your job . . . the Republicans have got to do their jobs.” Then Chris Wallace proceeded to double down on the question that Lew could not bring himself to answer. It was like Chris was saying ‘take your finger pointing, Jack, and stick it.’

  7. just saw this on Fox. Bret Baier followed the very entertaining video by saying they’d spoken with some computer expert types, who said there was NO WAY the administration does NOT know how many people have signed up. of course they know.

I wonder if the NFM will be talking about this?

btw: happy Megyn Kelly Day everyone!

  8. Typical stuffed shirt arrogant Obamite. He’s just like his predecessor (Tax cheat Timmy), either incompetent or derelict of duty.

  9. “who is not supposed to be a political hack”

Keith, that’s exactly what Jack Lew is. He has been on the hot seat on numerous other occasions and has shown that he is either incapable or unwilling of giving a straight answer to a simple question.

A less kind way of putting it is that Jack Lew is a liar, and mot a very believable one at that.

  10. […] In a sense ObamaCare has already been defeated. For years we heard from Big Media and other sources of state coercive power that ObamaCare required millions of the healthy young to enroll so that their money would fund what they don’t need. To that end we would witness an explosion of ObamaCare enthusiasm as ObamaCare websites, aided by social media, would be popular demonstrations of the popular will and popular ObamaCare would establish itself as so popular all dissent would end and “settled law” would be settled law forever and ever, Amen. Instead what social media and Americans saw was a catastrophe. ObamaCare was not only a GLITCH-O-BAMA-RAMA – ObamaCare itself is a glitch. […]

  11. The insurance is mandatory? No? That doesn’t mean people love it if they want to see what it is going to cost them. Obama could agree to at least postpone the mandate, but no. What if people want the insurance but cannot get it in time to comply with the law? The penalties and taxes are only small at the beginning by the way.

  12. “We will release monthly data when it is available,” a senior administration official told CNN. “We have not given an exact date, but it will be after end of month [November] and we will work with states to collect their data to have a good picture of what’s happening across the country.”

On that note, I fully expect whatever data they have collected to be revised like the unemployment stats and assuming the program is actually operationally by the end of October.

  13. Join me in a boycott of Fox News. This breaks my tiny, grinch heart, but I defended Fox against the MSM from my colleagues when I was in the trade. I did not see this incident, but it is in character with the latest Fox attitude. The Five broke my resolve:Dear The Five:

I have decided to leave The Five after many months of faithful attendance. Mr. Bechel brings little to the discussion, but his unprovoked attacks and street language referring to people, who do not have the opportunity to defend themselves, is,well, indefensible. Mr. Guido Barilla explained his position and Mr. Bechel’s scurrilous attack and closing line at the end of today’s The Five, unfortunately my final one, was unwarranted. I have never witnessed such behavior from the token conservatives who appear on similar programs on other networks. Apparently, only liberals are allowed to express their opinions as they pass judgement on those with whom they disagree.

I have made it a point to tune one of the television sets at the local fitness center to Fox News the five days I am there weekly. I have noticed some of the regulars have since switched from MSNBC and CNN to Fox News. If any of them asks me why I am reading a book or magazine rather than watching Fox next Monday, I will explain.

I worked in broadcast news more than forty years. I have more often than not had to defend Fox News from others in the trade. I learned very early that every mike is a live mike. That seems to be a small matter to Mr. Bechel. It is a very large matter to me.

    • Arrested development. There’s something creepy, and pathetic at the same time, seeing a man the age Bob Bechel acting like a member of a college fraternity and bloviating like he’s too stupid to realize how little how little he actually knows.

Megyn Kelly is my pet peeve; she’s a liberal in disguise if I ever saw one. Her giddiness the evening of Barack Hussein’s reelection disgusted me more than Bob Bechel ever has. At least Bechel knows in his heart he’s a joke. Miss Kelly is just plain devious.

    • Today was my final Five day as well. Beckel accused someone of being a “coward” just one time too many for me. Heard the word and I was out.

I have written them before. This time I don’t even have the respect to do that. So good on you.

  14. I imagine they wouldn’t hesitate to tell the nation if the numbers were good. Obama would be on television himself proclaiming the success of his “Obamacare”.

  15. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any
widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.

I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and
was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something
like this. Please let me know if you run into anything.
I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
