As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Obama Spends Day With MSNBC’s Boss

Updated Thursday at 6:57 am ET

President Obama spent Wednesday schmoozing with Brian L. Roberts, Chairman and CEO of the Comcast Corporation, which owns NBCUniversal and its news division, the avidly pro-Obama MSNBC.

The two played golf together from late morning through much of the afternoon, and then afterward the president and Mrs. Obama headed over to Roberts’ secluded Martha’s Vineyard estate for a couple of hours of socializing before dinner.

The president was with Roberts as controversy swirls over NBC’s plan to produce what is expected to be a hagiography of Hillary Clinton. The RNC has threatened to forbid MSNBC from hosting a GOP primary debate if the project goes ahead.

Roberts himself donates overwhelmingly to Democrats and is a supporter of Obamacare.

Also on the links with the president at Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown, Mass., is Jim Kim, president of the World Bank, and Ron Kirk, the former Obama U.S. Trade Representative and frequent Obama golf buddy who is known for not having negotiated a single new trade agreement during his four years in the post.

The outing marked the third time Obama has gone golfing since he arrived on Martha’s Vineyard late Saturday. It’s the 26th time he has been out this year and 137th round of his presidency.

  1. Any “normal” politician would be castigated for conflicts of interest this flagrant. But the pompous Obama just grins and moves forward. What does he care? No rules apply to him. Reid has his back; there won’t be any impeachment trial on Reid’s watch, the House knows it, and so Obama is safe to flout any law that seems inconvenient.

    What a national embarassment.

  2. Explain “family vacation” to me again ? Except for a house crammed with friends, a dinner out (with friends) and a cocktail party (with friends), where’s the quality family time? Will they be rolling out the bikes for some photo ops soon? Ice cream and book stores too?

Poor pool, they seem to all be stuck in ” vans down by the river” :D

    • This is second hand, but I read that the NYT was characterizing this vacation as a ‘romantic’ one which I gather means Mr. and Mrs. O sans daughters. He doesn’t seem to be spending much time with her though.

    • Sadly these are rich sycophantic Obama followers I truly don’t think
they have any friends unless they’re store bought and paid for with our
      money of course.

    • The pool has to be very careful Denise or they might be driven to a special reenactment of a bridge accident that happened on MV.

    • I’d call it a strategy meeting. MrO will tell the CEO of NBC what he wants aired on Obamacare, NSA, and everything else.
The CEO of NBC will respond with “Whatever you say, boss, consider it done”.

Just an aside here: MrO seems to be OCD with golf, or at least a maniac who can’t think of anything else to do with his spare time. His leisure time always seems to involve competion with other men.
Men in stressful positions should have solitary pursuits or hobbies such as stamp collecting, or writing their memoirs, or even sitting on a small boat with a fishing pole in their hands.

      • I wonder if it is more like the CEO of Comcast telling Obama what to do. With the media being as in the tank as they are, I am beginning to wonder if they are not pulling the strings of the puppet, and getting their orders from a “higher” source.

        • I hope the President is able to convince the Comcast CEO to create a network, let’s say a pseudo news network that is favorable to the President and continue funding it even if there are no ratings.

      • I think he’s trying to live the life that he was denied.
Lousy golfer, throws like a girl, loves all the attention from pro-teams, etc. etc.
        Poor man.

      • Actually BO is not the boss. I have a feeling the CEO visited ValJar before visiting Sir Putts-a-Lot and already had his marching orders.
