DOJ to Release Press Probe Guidelines

Attorney General Eric Holder today met with President Obama to discuss the department’s report detailing guidelines for federal criminal investigations that involve the press, according to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.

The report is expected to be released later today.

It’s expected to bar the Justice Department from prosecuting reporters for obtaining leaks but allow for their rendition to Pyongyang for further questioning.

Okay, not that last part.

  1. All those investigative reporters at NBC, CBS, the NYT and the WashPo must be shaking in their boots…oh, not them….so it’s the FOX team that’s on edge here. The bosses at ABC will take care of anyone who thinks about leaving the reservation and start asking rude questions of the WhiteHouse or it’s administration.

So, pretty much it will be FOX and a few Drudge-like sites that will be pulling out the old Underwoods and hiring some Navajos to write their e-mails. If the reporters think they must actually communicate on their cell phones, it would behoove them to learn to speak Austrian or Inuit.

    • @Dylan Byers at Politico:
A source at the DOJ has leaked parts of the DOJ’s guidelines to the NYT and Reutiers on leaks supplied to the press.

This might be funny if it wasn’t so doggone sad.

  2. Obviously, Obama can’t upset the state propaganda machine and lose its support so he has to try to appease them somehow. In the end, it won’t matter because 99% of the media are rabid Progressives who still would support Stalin.

  3. You just can’t make this stuff up. This cabal is operating so far outside the confines of the Constitution, and there isn’t a darn thing we can do about it.

  4. I am certain that Eric Holder’s DOJ investigation of the Eric Holder DOJ is riveting and thorough but what caught my eye was …. DOJ will also set up a permanent News Media Group made up of members of the press to continue dialogue started with this process.

It will interesting to see what progressive press pimps will be selected to this News Media Group cabal. Surely little lefty Matty Yglesias will make the cut.
