    • do we get to guess what he will be giving out as gifts??? MO’s old wigs with long bangs?? Official “I putted with King of the Sand Traps” golf balls??

  1. I wonder when the plug will be pulled on Mandela ?
It must be while Barry is in country, otherwise it will be a missed opportunity for a grand speech and photo op.

  2. It looks as if FCMABBHO won’t be greeted with adoring fans everywhere in Africa.

Local news sources report that the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu), which is technically a governing partner with the ANC, plans to “disrupt” Obama’s visit to the country by staging demonstrations involving thousands of protestors. Cosatu specifically objects to Obama’s foreign policy, which it describes as imperialist and militaristic. Local Muslim groups are joining the protest, too, with the local Muslim Lawyers Association calling on the government to arrest President Obama on his arrival for war crimes.

Several left-wing academics are vowing to boycott Obama’s a ceremony at the University of Johannesburg in which Obama is to receive an honorary doctorate. The centrist Democratic Alliance, meanwhile, has come under fire for attempting to bestow an award on the President and First Lady Michelle Obama.

    • No wonder Obama was aloof from Africa during his first term. These situations do not develop overnight, and I have read that China has had imperialist designs there for quite a while so China could be behind these protests against their competitor.

      • Looking at the way China has treated the Uighurs, China has no love for Musilms, but I can see that China would use the Muslims of Africa–and, elsewhere–as tools against us.

        • I think the Chinese are more interested in the untapped resources of the continent and the next-to-slavery labor available than getting in a fight with the Muslims. And I imagine the Muslims would be more favorable to the Chinese (in spite of their atheism) than to the decadent West. They don’t especially care about the Uighur issue, and some Muslim countries, e.g., the Emirates, are perfectly amenable to exploiting fellow Muslims from poorer countries, e.g., Indonesia, Pakistan.

  3. Attention haters: this trip is not a waste. King Bongo has reached important trade agreements with Senegal regarding their primary export, groundnuts.

For those in Rio Linda, the strategically important family of groundnuts includes bambara beans, Congo goobers, earth peas, ground-beans and hog-peanuts. [H/T NutWiki]

  4. One more thing. I do believe that there are many travel insurance internet sites of respectable companies that allow you to enter holiday details and find you the
quotes. You can also purchase your international holiday insurance policy on the web by using your current credit card.
All you need to do is to enter all your travel details and you can view the plans side-by-side.
Merely find the plan that suits your capacity to pay and needs and after that use your credit card to buy it.

Travel insurance on the internet is a good way to
start looking for a respectable company for international travel cover.
    Thanks for revealing your ideas.
