Plouffe to “Advise” Bloomberg Television

by Keith Koffler on April 25, 2013, 9:24 am

The man who has arguably been President Obama’s most important political advisor has been hired by a supposedly nonpartisan major mainstream media outlet to serve as a “strategic advisor.”

David Plouffe, who managed Obama’s 2008 campaign and then served as senior White House advisor from January 2011 – January 2013, will also provide on-air commentary for the network as part of his employment agreement.

The decision to hire Plouffe adds not just a partisan cast to Bloomberg, but also puts within its ranks a man who likely still seeks to promote Obama and advance his interests.

From an announcement by Bloomberg:

As contributor, Plouffe will appear regularly on Bloomberg Television to offer analysis and commentary on political and business issues as they impact the intersection of Wall Street, Main Street and K Street and will lend his expertise to the discussion of technology, demographic changes and crisis management. In addition, Plouffe, widely hailed as the architect of President Obama’s two victories, will serve in an advisory capacity for the network.

Plouffe recently attended the “Founders Summit” kickoff meeting in Washington for Organizing for Action, the mass organization that will seek to move Obama’s agenda forward.

Let’s just hope that he is as talented at advising and picking winners as Karl Rove is for the Republicans.

Susan April 25, 2013 at 10:21 am

Speaking of Karl Rove… What’s up with Fox still using a loser like him to give Republican political analysis? The guy spent almost half a billion dollars to get a 1% win rate in the 2012 election. He’s the last person who should be giving political advice to Republicans.

Star April 25, 2013 at 11:21 am

Agree–never did like him.

Scottso April 25, 2013 at 2:40 pm

I believe he is Contracted with them. Just as Dick Morris/Sarah Palin, etc.

Once his contract is up I doubt if they’ll renew.

Susan April 25, 2013 at 3:43 pm

They were all under contract, Scottso. Rove’s contract with Fox was renewed in January, after his huge election loss and on air election night meltdown. Sarah Palin and Dick Morris contracts were not renewed.

In my opinion, Fox News is the best there is on TV, but they aren’t what I would call a conservative news channel. I would say they slant more towards establishment GOP. Rove, Coulter, Graham, and McCain are omnipresent at Fox.

Another cosmetic denial that we, like most authoritarian countries, have media in service of the state.

Mandy Manners April 25, 2013 at 9:49 am

Who made this bone-headed decision?

Playrighter April 25, 2013 at 10:36 am

Likely the same type of “forward” thinking people who made rookie new hire David Axelrod “Senior Political Analyst” at NBC, not long after giving a slightly smaller but similar career boost to the daughter of Bill (standard bearer for women) Clinton.

Mandy Manners April 25, 2013 at 11:04 am

I’d expect that from MSNBC, but I was under the (mistaken, perhaps) impression that Bloomberg TV was not filled with Progs.

Susan April 25, 2013 at 10:05 am

And they accuse us rubes in flyover country of being inbreds. With over 300 million people in this country, the best qualified “reporter” Bloomberg can find is one of Preezy Revenge’s foot soldiers?

RickW April 25, 2013 at 10:42 am

Susan, be thankful they picked him. Chelsea Clinton was their 2nd choice………..

Mandy Manners April 25, 2013 at 1:19 pm

What’s wrong with Chelsea? I’m sure she’s a lefty, but is she as big a Prog as Plouffe, and would she have a direct line to the White House in order to promote FCMABBHO’s agenda?

RickW April 25, 2013 at 2:35 pm

Plouffe, while a slimeball, at least you know who you are dealing with. Chelsea just gives me the impression she’d say she lost her little rescue puppy and then stab me in the back.

Julie Brueckheimer April 25, 2013 at 10:23 am

Obama and Bloomberg both want to do away with the Constitution. This is a marriage made in hell.

Girly1 April 25, 2013 at 10:24 am

It’s getting more and more difficult to navigate the minefield of Obama operatives. At this point, they are all preaching to the choir. RIP, Bloomberg News.

srdem65 April 25, 2013 at 10:28 am

Bloomberg TV isn’t exactly a go-to place for political news or advice, and their viewers would be mostly finance geeks. MrPlouffe does seem an unlikely hire at a financial unless His Honor wants to put him on board for a personal political reason.

Star April 25, 2013 at 11:23 am

These poor little flowers need some job. I don’t watch that. Plouffe irks me, though.

Elaine April 25, 2013 at 12:56 pm

Bloomberg is about as non-partisan as Obama. After all, who owns the station? Dictator-idiot Michael Bloomberg is the second most dangerous man in America after Obama.
