As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Obama Stops Short of Calling Boston Bombings Terrorism

President Obama this evening vowed that investigators will apprehend those who set off explosions in Boston today, but he stopped short of calling the bombings an act of terrorism.

“We still do not know who did this or why and people should not jump to conclusions before we have all the facts,” Obama said. “But make no mistake we will get to the bottom of this. And we will find out who did this, we’ll find out why they did this. Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice.”

Obama said the full resources of the federal government will be committed to the investigation.

  1. “Make no mistake. We will get to the bottom of this. We will find out who did this and hold them accountablel.”
Hold them where? In the same place we are holding those who murdered our four Americans in Benghazi?

    • “Get to the bottom of this……….hold them accountable.” Is this the reaction to Beghazi speech #2? Oh, according to Hillary – “What difference does it make”?

      • 2009-present, LS. The election was ’08, the coronation inauguration was ’09.

Not sure how much of it lists Americans, but http://www.thereligionofpeace.com has a huge list of Islamic terror attacks since 9/11. It currently stands at 20,707 as I type this, about five a day on average.

Word from the New York Post is that they have a Saudi national in custody.

As VNV Nation put it, “When does enough become enough? When does No have meaning?”

        • And actually, I’m going to copy-and-paste the list from just the attacks in the US.

2/12/09, Buffalo, NY: The founder of a Muslim TV station beheads his wife in the hallway for seeking a divorce. 1 dead.
4/12/09, Phoenix, AZ: A man shoots his brother-in-law and another man to death after finding out that they visited a strip club, in contradiction to Islamic values. 2 dead.
6/1/09, Little Rock: A man shoots his brother-in-law and another man to death after finding out that they visited a strip club, in contradiction to Islamic values. 1 dead, 1 injured.
11/2/09, Glendale, AZ: A woman dies from injuries suffered when her father runs her down with a car for being too ‘Westernized.’ 1 dead, 1 injured.
11/5/09, Ft. Hood, TX: A Muslim psychiatrist yelling ‘Allah Akbar’ murders thirteen unarmed U.S. soldiers on their base in Texas, including a pregnant woman. 13 dead, 31 injured.
12/4/09, Binghamton, NY:A non-Muslim Islamic studies professor is stabbed to death by a Muslim grad student in revenge for ‘persecuted’ Muslims. 1 dead.
4/14/10, Marquette Park, IL: After quarrelling with his wife over Islamic dress, a Muslim convert shoots his family members to ‘take them back to Allah’ and out of the ‘world of sinners’. 5 dead, 2 injured.
4/30/11, Warren, MI: A 20-year-old woman is shot in the head by her stepfather for not adhering to Islamic practices. 1 dead.
6/15/12, Mission, TX: A man shoots his daughter, her boyfriend and her mother for letting the girl date a non-Muslim. 3 injured.
2/7/13, Buena Vista, NJ: A Muslim targets and beheads two Christian Coptic immigrants. 2 dead.
3/14/13, Vancouver, WA: Two people suffer knife injuries when a Muslim convert attemts to murder a non-Muslim to death over religious views outside a coffee shop. 2 injured.

That’s just within the US. Attacks on Americans overseas would take a LONG time for me to copy.

          • The list doesn’t include the 6/1/09 shootings at the recruiting station in Little Rock that killed one and injured another.

What about the attack on the Jewish center in Seattle a while back?

          • They’re still around–they have a new album due out in September, in fact. Their most recent album, “Automatic,” is almost wall-to-wall anthems. “Nova,” a modern-day hymn for the club floor, is worth the price of admission all by itself.

Ronan has mellowed a bit with age: the mad-as-heck tracks from, say, Praise the Fallen, have given way to a slightly more upbeat VNV in recent years.

“Automatic” ended with: “Broadcasting live around the world, on the air in every land, on every frequency; across the surface of the earth, to the farthest reach, this is our live transmission.” So when I see the new album is called “Transnational,” you may imagine my interest is piqued.

  2. “MAKE NO MISTAKE! We will get to the bottom of this. We will find out who did this and why they did this. Any responsible individuals/ groups will feel the full weight of justice.”

Words are cheap, aren’t they Barry. We’re still waiting on Ft. Hood and Benghazi. No rush, Barry. Take your time.

Sorry to have inconvenienced you and your busy schedule today. You are obviously too busy to even acknowledge the gaggle of WH reporters who gathered to listen to your every word on this shocking event. You seem to deny their existence except when it serves your purpose. You did, however, manage to get a photo of yourself out to the presses before most Americans learned about the event. Good boy!

  3. We know the “why”: to kill and maim, to spread terror. Ergo, it’s terrorism.

We don’t know the “who”: jihadis or neo-Nazis. (Am I missing a group?)

    • Yes, why in God’s name did he ever do that? Even before this happened, what was it, 17 out of the 9/11 attackers were Saudis.

    • please…after today’s terrorist attack in Boston I do not need the verbal image of bho with his “pants down.” Sheez, what a wacko this fool is. I suppose he’s busy conferring with bouncy and JZeez or the pierced rim rocket (that basketball guy who went to N. Korea, I forgot his name, fortunately)…they are, you know, experts in international relations.

  4. God, just once in my life, I would like to believe a word that comes out of Ovomit’s mouth. I really would.

However, we all know that if this is the work of left-wing radicals, or islamic terrorists, not a damn thing will come out of it.

    I REALLY miss President Reagan!!!!!

      • It’s Obama. Smart money is that he’ll make all the right kvetching noises in the press for a couple of news cycles, and then the whole story disappears down the media memory hole.

No way is he going to take on the Saudis. If they slap us with an oil embargo, gas goes to $5 easy, possibly $6, and Main Street will scream bloody murder if that happens.

      • No we don’t and I am willing to wait for the investigation. But after the Benghazi video tape debacle and still not knowing what really happened and no one has been “brought to justice” skepticism is justified. Politics trumps all for this President and I am deeply saddened by that. This is an attack on Americans in America and my President has given me justifiable pause.

  5. So if Obama refuses to call this a “terrorist attack” will the MSM follow his lead (MSM to protect & worship Dear Leader) and NOT call it a “terrorist attack”…?

  6. Its only a matter of hours before he blames the “Republican Sequester”

….Its certainly no fault of the muzzies, right?

  7. So, I have to give up my personal privacy in the name of ‘national security. REALLY?!?!?!?! Time to try something else because whatever we’re doing allowed this to happen and it’s not working. I’d rather have my privacy back if this is all I get…

    • The world is upside down: the terrorists get coddled and the US citizen pays the price by losing his rights and privacy. If we had a real President, profiling would make much more sense.

  8. Well another pat ‘remark’ must have it on a flash card. Those who wish
us harm don’t fear him or anyone who works for him Kerry and his ilk.
We constantly send messages that we are weak and just want to be loved. This after the Beyonce JZ honeymoon in Cuba and seriously
why did they pick Cuba? Louis Vuitton sale? They aren’t humanitarians
    so why?

    • We constantly send messages that we are weak and just want to be loved.

      SNIP
      *****

At times I think he still is trying to resolve issues with his mom.

      • Next time we get a President, we have to establish whether he or she came from a home with a loving dad and mom. As far as I’m concerned, O was abandoned by both of his parents.

        • You can stiil grow to be a narcissist or have another personality disorder in a two-parent home.

IIRC, he never knew his dad, and his mom flitted in and out of his life. I feel sorry for the kid, but I despise the man he grew to become.

        • I think all candidates for president should have to undergo a basic mental health check before running for office. Barry would fail for sure.

      • His compete narcissism about everything shows he’s got issues.
Never shows anger at the appropriate time unless its about him
none tonight not even a slight tone. Must be Mr Cool all the time
well if you’re golfing fine if you are addressing terrorist who just
attacked us you might show a bit of at least empathy and well
anger and strength and determination. We aren’t feared anymore.

        • His tone today and even some of the words he used reminded me very much of when he’s made statements about hurricanes:

“We’re continuing to monitor and respond to the situation as it unfolds. And I’ve directed the full resources of the federal government to help state and local authorities protect our people, increase security around the United States as necessary, and investigate what happened.”

Where is the damn outrage that Americans were targeted, slaughtered, and maimed today? Instead, Obummer spoke of:

          – “the events in Boston”
          – “the situation as it unfolds”
          – “investigate what happened”
          – “families of the victims in the wake of this senseless loss
          – “this tragedy

He repeatedly referred to today’s TERRORIST ATTACK as “this”:

          – “We still do not know who did this or why. And people shouldn’t jump to conclusions before we have all the facts. But make no mistake — we will get to the bottom of this. And we will find out who did this; we’ll find out why they did this. Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice.”

“This” WHAT??!! How about this attack, this act of terrorism?

  9. “People shouldn’t jump to conclusions until we have all the facts.”

Has Mr. Obama somehow evolved after his teachable moment regarding Gates and Crowley, his judicial interference on the Trayvon Martin shooting, and his verdict that Benghazi was caused by a video? Is he actually moving forward?

Also, what’s with the White House podium? Like Jay “Carny”, Obama can’t stop looking down when confronted with a difficult issue.

  10. Went to MSNBC and the Urgyr or whateever his name is said, we must be cautious until we know if it’s foreign, right wing, a crazy person…uh, any other choices you can think of?

  11. I remember after 9/11 when Bush addressed the nation,I felt his grief and anger. Today, I felt nothing from the President. He could have been talking about a tornado. Why couldn’t he use the word “terrorism”. What is his issue with it? It might be domestic or foreign, but call a spade a spade(no racism intended).
At a time when I should be focusing on the poor people in Boston,I just wanted to throw a shoe at my TV.

    • Blondie, I hadn’t scrolled down yet and read all the comments when I made a couple comments above. I said something similar, that Obummer’s statement reminded me of his previous statements about hurricanes. I saw and heard ZERO anger over the fact that Americans were targeted, murdered, and maimed in the massacre today.

He was completely detached. If anything, I think he only cares that this might affect or delay his agenda on immigration and guns.

      • Narcissists have no ability to empathize. I was married to a sociopath (which is a very similar PD) and he had no empathy. And, he was an emotional vampire.

Remember the way he fed on the adoring crowds during his campaign?

        • Ugh, my sympathies, Mandy.

Yep, he loves the adoring crowds. That’s why since the very beginning of his first term, he’s had to go out on the road at least once a week to “deliver remarks” on whatever the pressing topic is on the agenda that week. He needs to regularly be before a hand picked crowd who will applaud as he reads off his teleprompter.

  12. I in no way promote the instantaneous label of “terrorism” and will give the WH 24 hours to say what is common knowledge.

If next Sunday, a WH mouthpiece is still saying that “it isn’t an act of terrorism” with evidence to the contrary… Screw’em. Again…

    • Most logical and rational individuals don’t need 24 hours to determine that ANY time a bomb is planted, that can be characterized as an act of terrorism.

      • Snark, I am very logical but only occasionally rational.

You are quite correct that any bomb should be characterized as an act of terrorism. However, There was an explosion. For a while it was not known if it was an accident (gas leak, transformer, etc) or bomb. People at the scene instantly knew that it was a bomb. People away from the scene (including the Prez) had no way of knowing until the situation solidified and official information was disseminated.

Speculating wildly at an early hour is a recipe for disaster. As is continuing to repeat (weeks later) information that is clearly contrary to the facts.

If today the administration starts insisting that it wasn’t a real bomb but was an unfortunate case of flatulence near an ignition source… We have a pattern…

        • Point noted, Ratt. Too bad Obummer and his cohorts immediately speculated that outrage over a YouTube video caused the Benghazi attack without knowing all the facts.

    • Benghazi was swallowed up in the giant sink hole of errors and
mistakes and coverups left in the trail of Sec Clinton and her lot
of useful idiots. My God don’t we deserve better for our citizens
home and abroad than a fake hearing and silence?

    • exactly what I was thinking–and yelling at the TV while Obama was talking.

this is another one of those “unacceptable” things that we’re going to accept. it joins other “unacceptable” things like Benghazi, Iran’s attempt to assassinate a Saudi diplomat in DC, the Syrians’ use of chemical weapons, and Hamas’ Jew-hating rhetoric that are acceptable because Obama doesn’t want to do anything about them.

      • I never in my long life thought that I would refer to a President of the United States as a “Lying P.O.S.”, but that’s exactly what I was yelling at MY tv!

  13. A 23 year veteran of the FBI and Missouri Homeland Security Coordinator opined (before hard evidence) that it is domestic terrorism because of the type of bomb and because “Al Quaida (sic) and other Islamicist groups don’t often choose significant or historic dates for their attacks.” I beg your pardon, Benghazi?

However, a Congressman from TX said that the explosives were very similar to IEDs used in Afghanistan.

  14. Obama’s speech writers must be weary. His speech tonight had 3 consecutive paragraphs starting with “I’ve.” It’s always about him.

  15. If it isn’t a terrorist attack, just what the hell is it? I don’t see the difference if the perp came from the Land of Baloney, or if they’re home grown, they are terrorists.
    The Prez is a nincompoop!
