As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Report: Gene Sperling Threatened Woodward

Buzzfeed’s Ben Smith is reporting that a “source familiar with the exchange” said National Economic Council Director Gene Sperling is the senior White House official who berated Bob Woodward for half an hour and then threatened him in an email over his reporting on the sequester.

Sperling is a veteran Democratic official who held the same position as NEC Director in the Clinton White House. He’s part political operative and part economist, and if he is indeed the one who bullied Woodward, it wouldn’t be surprising because he is directly involved in both the sequester and the politics of the issue.

  1. I felt in good company today with Salon’s headline that Woodward is “embarrassing himself.” The same phrase was directed toward me recently by a union leader when I spoke up regarding the needs of teachers (believe it or not, things aren’t rosy for teachers) — needs the union won’t address.

      • Iconic would be a good thing. I’ve seen “out of touch, embarassing, secret conservative, too old , who’s he, liar, liar, and liar”.

He dared expose the truth and now he will feel the wrath.

        • ‘Who is he’ is probably closer to the truth. Our burgeoning population of newly minted scholars from south of the border and elsewhere are clueless and could care less. Welcome to Obama’s World.
BTW, whatever happened to the other half of Woodward and Bernstein? Oh well…

  2. Thinking of Rodney King’s famous line, “Cant we all just get along”? WIth this White House, the answer is obviously NO. What an insult to our entire system of government.

  3. Looks like Sperling’s threat to Bob Woodward is already coming to fruition. Just read some of the rantings of the sycophantic journalistseunuchs in Preezy’s harem to see how they have already turned on Woodward. There is no honor among thieves.

There is no indication of even PART of an “ecomomist” EVER being involved in the Obama White House. I’d say, in this case, its 100% political operative. Just as everyone who works for Obama is…

  5. Wow, with all this public negativity going on about Obama, I’d avise you not to fly next Tuesday, you might be delayed by drone traffic…

“The leader of the government regularly sits down with his senior generals, spies and advisers and reviews a list of the people they want him to authorize their agents to kill. They do this every Tuesday morning when the leader is in town. The leader once condemned any practice even close to this, but now he relishes the killing because he has convinced himself that it is a sane and sterile way to keep his country safe and himself in power. The leader, who is running for re-election, even invited his campaign manager to join the group that decides whom to kill.

This is not from a work of fiction, and it is not describing a series of events in the Kremlin, Beijing or Pyongyang. It is a fair summary of a 6,000-word investigative report in the New York Times earlier this week about Barack Obama’s White House. Two Times journalists, Jo Becker and Scott Shane, painstakingly and chillingly reported that the former lecturer in constitutional law and liberal senator who railed against torture and the Guantanamo Bay detention center now reviews a secret kill list every week, personally decides who should be killed and then dispatches killers all over the world – and some of his killers have killed Americans.” – fmr. judge Andrew P. Napolitano
