Here’s a tape of the remarks.

Brenda A. February 12, 2013 at 6:16 pm

Keith, you draw such a great crowd here, it almost makes me want to watch the SOTU speech. Almost.

movedtothefarm February 12, 2013 at 7:21 pm

do you really need to?

Star February 13, 2013 at 10:53 am

I watched a movie in which a lesbian couple’s kids meet their sperm donor. Pretty lame movie. But it beat the alternative. Ruffalo looks like an old BF, so that part was OK. Did anything happen nationally? (kidding)

movedtothefarm February 12, 2013 at 7:24 pm

I stopped at a local favorite ‘watering-hole’ – here in the middle of no-where Nebraska – and asked the question of who will be watching the speech tonight….let’s just say – no beers were bought for me tonight.

Julie Brueckheimer February 12, 2013 at 7:37 pm

Cokie Roberts says GOP is the party of white guys. Bigoted Democratic white guys were ok, though, when Big Daddy was in the Congress. And I remember her in 2008 before she was for Obama saying that Hawaii was just like a foreign country. Too bad our TVs don’t come equipped with hooks.

Star February 13, 2013 at 10:54 am

There are a lot of channels, tho.

Misscheryl February 12, 2013 at 7:49 pm

Oh darn! I’ll be busy watching some paint dry.

ImNoDhimmi February 12, 2013 at 8:22 pm

I have to wash my hair…..

Julie Brueckheimer February 12, 2013 at 8:59 pm

I’m reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich with the sound turned off, and when Rubio come on, I’ll set my book down and turn up the sound.

SWFL February 12, 2013 at 10:25 pm

Citizen Kane is on tonight :-)

Langley Spook February 12, 2013 at 9:09 pm

and then Justified at 10p :-)

Ratt February 12, 2013 at 9:12 pm

It hasn’t started yet and I am already spitting up a little…

WNY_ROC February 12, 2013 at 9:29 pm

Obviously BHO didn’t listen to Dr. Carter atthe Prayer Breakfast, even sitting next to him. I know he must not have fully woken up at that time of the day. Nor Dr. Williams on paying bills like SS.

cindy lou February 12, 2013 at 9:30 pm

education for jobs that aren’t there-ya ok

billionaires and millionaires – republicans won’t work with us=blahblahblah

just wait next up, infrastructure, roads, bridges, teachers, blahblahblah

cindy lou February 12, 2013 at 9:40 pm

oops there he goes-you don’t need to be a swami to figure this stuff out

same proposals made when he ran the first time, he should be ashamed of himself

WNY_ROC February 12, 2013 at 9:37 pm

I guess we will invest in controlling solar flares to control global change. Because THAT would be using science!

Guillermo Grande February 12, 2013 at 9:45 pm

which decade from germany’s history does he want to emulate? hummmm

cindy lou February 12, 2013 at 9:45 pm

I think it’s sad to put kids in school at 4 years old.

Guillermo Grande February 12, 2013 at 9:52 pm

yeah… that is going to get the economy going. This man is clueless. Raising the min wage has only proven to reduce employment. The best way to increase your income is to provide VALUE.

Guillermo Grande February 12, 2013 at 9:55 pm

when i lived in Ann Arbor, MI, they had a living wage ordinace. It was the first time i saw automatic check out lines in the grocery. Raising the min wage only make technology a better investment or alternative which will reduce employment. Tie in taxes, obamacare, regulations, and unions, why hire someone to actually take care of a customer?

Burke February 12, 2013 at 9:54 pm

I am watching the Military Channel instead. Rather watch real heros in action.
Not this Liar and Chief.

Terry February 12, 2013 at 9:59 pm

What shit

Guillermo Grande February 12, 2013 at 10:06 pm

Is it me, or does this seem to be lacking in energy from both the podium and from the audience?

srdem65 February 12, 2013 at 10:35 pm

I caught that too. Like us, we’ve heard it all before, the same and spend.
His ideas are great, it would be wonderful if we could afford to do what he proposes, but we’re broke. In debt.

Question; were there empty seats or did it just look that way?

Star February 13, 2013 at 11:00 am

I am nto so sure we should do all this from the central govt even if we could afford it. Why should someone in Washington State pay to fill a pothole in Chandler AZ? What happened to bond issues–that pay decent interest etc.

srdem65 February 12, 2013 at 10:06 pm

Where in the heck is he planning to get all this “investment” money?

It would be grand if we could do all that he proposes, but we’re broke.

WNY_ROC February 12, 2013 at 10:07 pm

Did Michelle & Dr. Jill just do a Flip Wilson handshake?

Julie Brueckheimer February 12, 2013 at 11:15 pm

Well, she was wearing the Geraldine wig. The dress was hideous, and she had more makeup on than a clown.

cindy lou February 12, 2013 at 10:17 pm

the light response on here is very telling, people are sick of this

CAR February 12, 2013 at 10:55 pm

Exactly. Who wants to watch this…person?

Julie Brueckheimer February 12, 2013 at 11:00 pm

I had Fox on with the sound off until Rubio came on, but I noticed that Fox had instant polling on-going throughout the speech, and the graph lines for Democrats, Republicans and Independents remained in the negative area throughout. There was no noticeable gender disparity either.

AZ Granny February 13, 2013 at 9:35 am

Fox partnered with Bing last night and as we watched the SOTU we voted in real time on Bing. It allowed you to vote every 5 seconds. I never once saw the vote average enter the positive range.

Star February 13, 2013 at 10:59 am

I did see Rubio–and was a little surprised he was so nervous, dabbing sweat, etc–usually he is polished.

Guillermo Grande February 12, 2013 at 10:19 pm

well at least that is over.

WNY_ROC February 12, 2013 at 10:24 pm

Not as fun as the debates.

Guillermo Grande February 12, 2013 at 10:29 pm

what was the drinking word again? I must have missed it.

cindy lou February 13, 2013 at 12:29 am

a few-roads bridges teachers middle class

Star February 13, 2013 at 10:57 am

invest in

Julie Brueckheimer February 12, 2013 at 11:03 pm

A little nervous but I don’t hold that against him. In substance and sincerity he must have been ten-fold better than the glib man you support.

Julie Brueckheimer February 12, 2013 at 11:13 pm

Studies have shown that Head Start does nothing to prepare children for Kindergarten and beyond, yet Obama wants every 4 year old in preschool. No more childhood, just indoctrination, the earlier, the better. All it is is governmental babysitting.

Robin H February 13, 2013 at 12:00 am

Well, when the inflation hits from printing all of this money, every household will have to have at least 2 wage earners, so he’s saving us all the trouble of figuring out what to do with the kids. Bless his heart!

Misscheryl February 13, 2013 at 8:57 am

I’m right there with you. But to add to what you say – most moms and dads both work so they are ok with putting their 4 year old in school so they don’t have to pay for day care. Much of where we are today is our own fault.

Star February 13, 2013 at 11:06 am

What is this–1950? Preschool is OK–but does it need to be paid by the feds?

Misscheryl February 13, 2013 at 12:50 pm

I don’t see any problem with the 1950s. But that’s not at issue here. What is at issue is that the government is smack dab in the middle of our business and are now requiring that 4 year olds go to preschool. I think some parents, because it makes their lives easier, allow the government to continue to do this. I will determine whether preschool is OK or not for my child.

Question — Is MO also doing the bleaching that Beyonce has been doing? She is definitely lighter than ever. It is repulsive that she is attempting to be in her 20′s — also another proud BLACK woman with a different ethnic hairdo…. okay — wig — again.

I comment on her — he deserves being ignored.

cindy lou February 13, 2013 at 2:13 am

worth a read -circa 1991

“Call me Mr. Gatto, please. Twenty-six years ago, having nothing better to do, I tried my hand at schoolteaching. My license certifies me as an instructor of English language and literature, but that isn’t what I do at all. What I teach is school, and I win awards doing it.

Teaching means many different things, but six lessons are common to schoolteaching from Harlem to Hollywood. You pay for these lessons in more ways than you can imagine, so you might as well know what they are:

The first lesson I teach is: “Stay in the class where you belong.” I don’t know who decides that my kids belong there but that’s not my business. The children are numbered so that if any get away they can be returned to the right class. Over the years the variety of ways children are numbered has increased dramatically, until it is hard to see the human being under the burden of the numbers each carries. Numbering children is a big and very profitable business, though what the business is designed to accomplish is elusive.”

Jeff1000 February 13, 2013 at 7:23 am

I went to bed at 7:59PM.

Susan February 13, 2013 at 9:25 am

Glad I missed it. Did he mention Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, or Tyrone Woods during his bit about snatching our guns?

AZ Granny February 13, 2013 at 9:31 am

Obama boasted last night that he put more boots on the border than at any time in our past history and he has reduced illegal crossings to their lowest level in 40 years. If that is so, it’s only because they aren’t enforcing immigration laws.

Otis Driftwood February 13, 2013 at 10:59 am

he may have put them on the border but a good % of them (national guard / reservists) could only watch and make a call on activity last year. Their deployment made allot of media hoopla but didn’t slow down the crossings. The group on the other side of the border knew they were about and just moved their activity to another area. It’s a huge game of hide and seek down there.

AZ Granny February 13, 2013 at 9:51 am

Another promise from Obama 2008 was minimum wages would be $9.50 an hour by 2011. Last night he said he wants to raise minimum wages to $9 an hour. Guess he forgot about his earlier promise…

>>Raise the Minimum Wage to $9.50 an Hour by 2011: Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe that people who work full-time should not live in poverty. Even though the minimum wage will rise to $7.25 an hour by 2009, the minimum wage’s real purchasing power will still be below what it was in 1968. As president, Obama will further raise the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 2011, index it to inflation and increase the Earned Income Tax Credit to make sure that full-time workers can earn a living wage that allows them to raise their families and pay for basic needs such as food, transportation, and housing — things so many people take for granted.<<

AZ Granny February 13, 2013 at 10:11 am

Another thought – how did those illegal aliens gain entry to the SOTU last night? I thought everyone attending had to provide ID and a SS#. Did they bend the security rules for the illegals?

Otis Driftwood February 13, 2013 at 10:50 am

yup.. they did. Just like the illegal alien who testified before the Senate as ICE watched and could do nothing. Granted he is a high profile illegal, but still not right. But maybe they are tending the magic money tree?
