Obama Immediately Goes to Play Golf!

by Keith Koffler on December 22, 2012, 5:30 pm

Less than 24 hours after he stood in the White House briefing room to announce that he was temporarily abandoning negotiations to avoid the fiscal cliff, President Obama is in Hawaii golfing.

It’s the first order of business for the president, who hung out at his rented compound until late morning before heading out to the links.

Obama is playing at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. It’s the 109th time Obama has played since the beginning of his presidency and the 17th time this year.

Obama Sunday will attend a morning memorial service for the late Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii).

Obama is golfing with White House chef Sam Kass, Hawaii pals Bobby Titcomb and Mike Ramos, and aide Marvin Nicholson.

It would be nice if all veterans of WWII would have special memorials in their honor. Those patriotic men and women stepped forward to answer the call to duty, not to protect their own homes, but the lives and homes of strangers. Most were not famous or given special honors, but followed orders and put their lives on the line.
I don’t know how good a Senator MrInouye was to his constituents, but we know the details of his brave and selfless service to the United States, long before it became ‘his’ country, too.

Amen, srdem. No matter Senator Inouye’s politics he was a true American patriot. Hopefully, Obama isn’t giving another eulogy. It was so sickening to hear him gloss over the senator’s heroic military service to tell the story about how impressed he was with motel ice machines…

That eulogy was wacky. I thought the Prez was stoned.

Makes you wonder what Sen. Inouye’s family was thinking….

Disappointing to see that Sen. Inouye arrived in HNL today (12/22) by a UAL 777. Thought that Obama would have at least extended the respect of offering AF1 for Sen. Inouye’s last journey home.

Didn’t Bobby Titcomb plead no contest to solicitation – I guess he’s still at it.

The White House is apparently taking great pains to call this a “working vacation”.

To paraphrase Bill Clinton (who everyone seems to admire so much), it depends on what the meaning of work is.

Obama is golfing with close aide Marvin Nicholson, White House chef Sam Kass, and childhood friends Mike Ramos and Titcomb, whom the president has known since they attended Honolulu’s Punahou School together in the 1970s.

Titcomb was arrested in April 2011 in an undercover prostitution sting operation. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge and the conviction was reportedly later expunged from his record.

What a cozy little foursome – the personal chef and the trip coordinator. Food and travel – Obama’s priorities. As for Bobby Titcomb, if only the walls could talk!

You have to wonder how much money is going to be lost on Wall Street this coming week. While the economy sinks, Obama’s on the links. Somebody go make a bumper sticker, quick.

The payroll people are going to deduct at the current rate–for a month or two–as if they cannot believe how stupid and lame our reps are…

I wrote the following–not for pub–to a friend at our paper:

Did it ever occur to you that before we were visited by this Obama person, our leaders did not construct cliffs for the whole country to fall off of, they may have festooned some projects on Christmas Tree bills at the last minute, but they did budgets–authorization, appropriation, hearings on both. Also they did not tell the other side–do what I say or I will say in the State of the Union that this is all your fault and you know the country likes me and hates you, so people will believe me.

So Mr. Obama played golf about once every two weeks. That is very modest for a man his age! I bet Dwight Eisenhower played more often.
