President Obama Makes a Statement on the Shootings

I feel awful for the families – particularly the parents of the kids who were killed – I think that is every parents worse fear but to have it realized is hard / impossible for me to realize.

Let’s not hope that “meaningful action” simply means more liberal control of our lives. I don’t own a gun nor do I plan on getting one but I respect the right that American have (at least for the moment) to own their own weapon(s). Only a fool would believe that disarming citizens makes everyone safer – it makes them more vulnerable. As Ann Coulter is fond of saying, what keeps the criminals out of your house is the fear that it’s the knuckle-dragging gun owner that will blow his freaking head off if he comes inside without a dinner invitation.

As painful as it is, risk and danger are part of life – no government action can or should be pursued in the fairly tale believe that they can make it otherwise. I’m not suggesting promoting nonsensical actions, but people need to realize that a swarming, suffocating nanny-state government is, itself, risky and dangerous, not just the actions of individuals with poor judgement, mental impairments, or desires to do evil to others.

Remember the second amendment is NOT about citizens hunting or protecting themselves from armed assailants. If you forgot the reason for the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America then you need only go so far as it’s reference document. The Declaration of Independence.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

All governments will become destructive and at some point will deprive and destroy those they govern. The Second Amendment of the Constitution gives WE the People the ability to resist our government when it becomes so oppressive that we must cast it aside and start anew. Politicians want us to forget this basic reality of our nation. That We the People are armed to deny the government the very tyranny it soo naturally seeks to create.

These “examples” will continue because a mad person can wrought massive injury upon those unprepared. However, in the case of the Mall Shooting, one man stood out and defended his family and was summarily ignored for the action. That’s why that idiot went off and shot himself, not because of any other reason.

CNN scrawls “Obama Weeps”. Jessica Yelsin and Wolf Blitzer couldn’t stop marveling at the fact that Obama is the first president to openly weep on camera. Sickening. They must not remember the REAL tears Bush shed during 9/11.

I hope that Obama has the capacity to let these grief-stricken families mourn their tragic losses in private. If I hear one person start ranting about gun laws, I’m going to scream. This tragedy is unimaginable! Our hearts are broken – my prayers go out to everyone.

Heard he cancelled a trip to Maine. So he can go to funerals? Why not go to funerals in Chicago if he’s so concerned about gun violence? Just a thought.

Does anybody believe for a second that he feels “overwhelming grief” over the deaths of people he never met? Of course he doesn’t. He says what he thinks a caring person would say, but it only shows what a phony he is.

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious he didn’t write that speech. In fact, listening to it, I thought the prepared remarks sounded like they were written by a woman.

The in-tight camera shots on TV revealed NO tears in spite of his efforts to make it seem they were flowing. Wouldn’t be surprised if the script he was reading gave him the appropriate cues. Blah, blah, blah, wipe corner of left eye. Blah, blah perse lips and clench jaw, blah blah wipe underneath right eye.
