Live Stream || House Oversight Hearing on Benghazi

by Keith Koffler on October 10, 2012, 10:46 am

The briefing has concluded.

srdem65 October 10, 2012 at 11:04 am

The pros at the State Department have already given the facts of the terrorist attack and it contradicts everything that MrObama, MrsClinton and MsRice have insisted was true.
The only question to be answered is were they lied to or did they choose to lie about what really happened.

Susan October 10, 2012 at 11:18 am

Thank you, Keith. This should be a very enlightening hearing. For once, there are a few witnesses who appear to be more interested in making sure justice is served, rather than preserving their government careers.

Julie Brueckheimer October 10, 2012 at 11:26 am

I am amazed that Hillary Clinton is trying to walk back her comments on how the anti-Islam video was the cause of all the trouble. She’s captured on tape at the body arrival ceremony and elsewhere not only blaming the video but apologizing to the Muslims for it. It’s like a reprise of her sniper bullet dodging adventure. The woman’s chutzpah is unlimited.

AZ Granny October 10, 2012 at 1:46 pm

Hillary and Obama also appeared in ads on Pakistan tv to apologize and denounce the video. It was reported the ads cost us $70,000.

I say cut the hearing and just throw everybody in jail. At this point these people don’t deserve due process.

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Was that before or after we gave Pakistan $7 million dollars for Sesame Street.

Julie Brueckheimer October 10, 2012 at 3:51 pm

I think that’s what I had in mind, the ads on Pakistani TV. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have photographic memories, and that’s what they’re counting. But, it’s all there–on tape.

AZ Granny October 10, 2012 at 8:40 pm

Julie, yes it is there both on tape and internet archives. Can you imagine how the families of those killed in Libya feel about all this?

Girly1 October 10, 2012 at 11:27 am

Hope we can get indictments before Nov.6.

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Firing squad on November 6th (by means of an election, of course).

Playrighter October 10, 2012 at 12:21 pm

Did Cummings just say that as to charges that this investigation is being pursued on a bipartisan basis, “That is simply not the case”? That’s what I thought I heard. (12:19 PM EST)

Keith: Thanks for streaming this.

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 12:26 pm

You heard right! Nothing about these hearing are or will be bi-partisan – Cummings made sure of it!

Langley Spook October 10, 2012 at 2:09 pm

Surprised that cranky, old racist Cummings hasent called this hearing somehow “Racist!” and blame Bush for all of this

MW2 October 10, 2012 at 12:26 pm

Everyone shouts “bipartisan” while blaming and covering themselves -or their political objectives. Who received the requests for more security the WEEKS before the Benghazi attack, and who was the authority to decline and even reduce the security in response?

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 12:28 pm

You can be damn sure Hillary’s blue ribbon panel will not release answers to your questions or a lot of others until post election.

MW2 October 10, 2012 at 12:29 pm

Why did the White House and the State Dept. decide to follow a misinformation campaign to the American people when the timeline shows they knew this was a terrorist attack?

Playrighter October 10, 2012 at 1:53 pm

Why did the scheduled work-challenged Barack Obama set up his only activity for today (aside from his now-mandatory-to-keep-up-with- Romney Daily Briefing), a meeting with Hillary Clinton, at a time that would prevent her from appearing at this hearing? Coincidence? There was no other time they could get together?

MW2 October 10, 2012 at 12:31 pm

The requests for increased security from our Ambassador and others in Benghazi, Libya was in reference to Al Qaeda jihadist and not the Libyan people. There were no riots outside the embassy in Benghazi the night of the terrorist attack.

MW2 October 10, 2012 at 12:35 pm

Rep Norton says the State dept was honest & open??? So we now must wade through each Representatives’ version of “not us-you” with the canned bi-partisan nod. Could this be any more insulting to the American public?

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 12:52 pm

After hearings Lt. Col Woods and Mr. Nordstom is it any wonder that Cummings and Norton were anxious to “protect and defend” not the country, but their puppet masters.

Quintis Arrius October 10, 2012 at 1:11 pm

I’m a looking at the google map of the Consulate grounds right now on Google Earth. What a lousy location. Totally undefensible location. Isolated, two roads bracketing the grounds with orchards providing cover on 3 sides.

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 1:42 pm

I’ve been checking on Blue Mountain Security (another State Dept. decision).

The State Department signed a six-figure deal with a British firm to protect the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya just four months before a sustained attack on the compound killed four U.S. nationals inside.

Contrary to Friday’s claim by State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland that “at no time did we contract with a private security firm in Libya,” the department inked a contract for “security guards and patrol services” on May 3 for $387,413.68. An extension option brought the tab for protecting the consulate to $783,000. The contract lists only “foreign security awardees” as its recipient.

Langley Spook October 10, 2012 at 2:07 pm

that Victoria Nuland dosent look or talk like the ‘sharpest knife in the drawer’…(just saying)

Lizzy October 10, 2012 at 1:48 pm

As the saying goes the fish rots from the head down and this stinks to high
heaven. They can’t even get their lies straight. I think the Obama cabal of
apologizing idiots didn’t want to p…s off the Libyans so we lost four American
men serving the country. You know they we’re just asking why when they ask for more they were denied it should be a warning to all Ambassadors you’re on your own. I’d tell them before I go to work I want all the security that I deem
needed not you and unless you provide it find another Ambassador.

AZ Granny October 10, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Ok, I missed part of this. 10,000 – to 12,000 weapons capable of shooting down a commercial airline are still missing in Libya? Did the US supply these weapons? And to whom were they supplied??? Did I hear this right?

Langley Spook October 10, 2012 at 2:14 pm

there were alot of MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defense Systems) in Libya before the revolt, and then US-NATO-Arab states send Millions$ of weapons in during the revolt (heard that NATO Spec Ops even taught some Libyan groups how to use them)

AZ Granny October 10, 2012 at 8:06 pm

Thanks for that info, L.S. Now I understand why one of the Seals was there to find weapons.

mad as all get out October 10, 2012 at 2:30 pm

obama would throw hillary under the bus but he needs bill right now. but if he’s re-elected and i hope he’s not on november 6, hillary will have tire tracks all over her on november 7. her presidental hopes for 2016 are history.

Langley Spook October 10, 2012 at 2:38 pm

when are they going to throw Amb. Rice under the bus?

gracepmc October 10, 2012 at 8:32 pm

If Obama gets re elected Susie can be SecState. John Kerry already under bus for poor debate prep.

OK Lady October 10, 2012 at 2:44 pm

Congressman from VA seemed more interested in making it appear this is a partisan issue coming from the Republican side. Was that just my perception?

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 2:50 pm

Ya think. Cummings started off on his “LEFT” foot and the rest of Dems are following suit.

Jim C. October 10, 2012 at 2:57 pm

“Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to deceive!”

Seems to always boil down to,
“What did they know, and when did they know it?”

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 3:13 pm

It appears the State Dept. knew how bad things were since Feb. 2012. Today, they’ve brought out Charlene Lamb-to-slaughter, tomorrow it will be someone else we’ve never seen or heard of before. And like the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac debacle – no one at the top will be held accountable – period.

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 3:24 pm

Michelle MalkinVerified‏@michellemalkin

State Dept Charlene Lamb, who made determination that Benghazi didn’t need more security, has never visited Libya.

AZ Granny October 10, 2012 at 8:22 pm

As a former law enforcement officer Lamb seems highly naive to believe they didn’t need more security because if anything happened they could always go to their safe house. As a police officer, would she have determined she didn’t need to carry a weapon because if anyone became violent she could just leave to go somewhere safe? Breitbart reports that another primary duty she had was to enforce the “No Marines, no bullets” rules of engagement in Libya. And why does she call the terrorists “attackers” instead of terrorists?

Sadie October 10, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Thanks Keith for streaming and giving us a place to live “scream”.

Janice/Granny Jan October 10, 2012 at 4:57 pm

Colonel Hunt was a guest on the Howie Carr show today. You might know him from Fox news appearances.

My ears perked up when he related some inside gossip about what Amb Stevens was doing in Benghazi. He said it was partly a social visit and Howie said that did he mean a girlfriend?

I’m just reporting what was said but if you Google Stevens he might have been too polite to say boyfriend.

Janice/Granny Jan October 10, 2012 at 5:01 pm

Col. Hunt voted for Obama in 2008, a vote he came to regret. I was surprised he said what he did but he has sources.

gracepmc October 10, 2012 at 8:39 pm

Everything I have read says that Ambassador Stevens was openly gay. Gay/straight is irrelevant. Dead is dead. Murdered on Hillary’s watch. The fact that she has not resigned is disgraceful.

ImNoDhimmi October 11, 2012 at 12:32 am

Fascinating stuff. Thanks for streaming the hearing, Keith.

j novotny October 11, 2012 at 2:06 pm

it’s disgraceful how this administration can put such a desperate attempt to get re-elected above the responsibility of protecting our foreign diplomats and military personnel. There is an administration wide coverup of what actually happened in benghazi and a continued string of lies to the American People regarding the state departments refusal to provide sufficient protection for our brave personnel. These 4 men were so horrifically brutalized and ultimately murdered and our commander in chief finds it more pressing to attend a fund raiser in las vegas with JZ. And how about the presidents decision to make an appearance on the View instead of meeting with world leaders at the Council summit. The national debt at 16 trillion dollars, 43 straight months of above 8% unemployment, one out of 6 people in poverty, 47 million people on food stamps, trillion dollar deficits 4 years in a row, 61,000 less people working then when Obama took office, no domestic energy policy, no immigration policy, billions wasted on failed green energy companies that went belly up, Obama care that 2/3′s of Americans don;t want, constant apologies for America, bowing to a radical muslim population in the middle east that hates us, billions in foreign aid to our enemies and a middle east that is in flames, what a foreign policy! If this is a recipy for returning America to it’s former greatness, then Obama,s your man. Remember, you are witnessing the most devisive President ever,. residing in the oval office.Never has a man been so good at deviding the country, engaging in class warfare and not having the courage to call a terrorist, a terrorist. God help America

Pauline May 8, 2013 at 3:08 pm

I get so angry when I hear these Democrats trying to say it’s a money issue as to why diplomatic security failed in Benghazi ! As Mr,. Hicks said – it is NOT a matter of money! It is a matter of procedures.

Furthermore, we seem to have plenty of $ for Hillary’s and the Barack family to travel hither and thither on personal trips, when that $ could be better used to protect the people who actually carry the load for us.

Pauline May 8, 2013 at 3:15 pm

We should never put our ambassadors in countries where the State Department has not gotten a firm commitment by their President/Leader to protect our embassies at all times. Failing to get that assurance, our embassies should have been closed and staff removed. The US gives protection to all embassies in the US – we should demand the same elsewhere, if we haven’t alreadyl. Hillary is a disgrace. She can not delegate this responsibility to others. She should have demanded meetings from all departments and held people accountable and verified their performance. And Obama does not get off the hook either! He was aware of this attack and did not put in a call to Libya’s leaders for help at the embassy….
