  1. Go West young man, go west and keep going, going until you’re gone.

The average price of regular gas across the state was nearly $4.49 a gallon, the highest in the nation, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge report.
In Southern California, the price jumped 20 cents a gallon overnight to $4.53 in Ventura. And in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area prices went up 19 cents to nearly $4.54. And it wasn’t any better to the north, as a gallon of regular gas in San Francisco averaged nearly $4.60.

Think there will be a welcoming committee with signs: ALL OF THE ABOVE.

    • And how interesting, no stories about gas prices in the top ten stories on Yahoo’s home page. I still remember all the high gas price stories in the GWB years.

      • Snark, pretty much like the odd/even days in the 1970’s – news has taken on the same coverage odd=conservative and even=liberals.

Also noted that Obama isn’t getting briefed in the a.m. – that’s odd since Abu Hamza has been extridicted from the UK and is on his way to NYC at this very moment.

      • $3.48 @ CONOCO downtown Montgomery Texas today and we are disgusted also. Especially when we are sitting atop a vast amount of oil and gas which is off limits to you know who.

        • Let’s play “gas buddy” today – $3.90 S.E. Pa. – I am not amused. The cost of getting goods to market will rise as well. If it means paying more now and getting R/R elected, it will be well worth it.

          • Couldn’t agree more, Sadie. That’s the sort of sacrifice we’re willing to make. However, I’ve noticed that consumer prices never fall back after the price of gasoline goes down, at least here in Kalifornia. Yesterday I paid $4.89 for a loaf of Orowheat bread! CA is becoming the Weimar Republic!

  2. Keith, how could you? You failed to mention his obligatory worship at the BHO shrine in Chicago extending to the holy shrine Washington, soon to be competing with Mecca!

  3. Paul Ryan has a big bucks fundraiser brunch in Chicago this Sunday:

    http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2012/10/paul_ryan_chicago_fund-raiser_.html

Prices top out at $75,800 per person, $151,600 per couple. One of the co-hosts/member of Romney’s finance team is Chicago’s Susan Crown, a former Obummer supporter and big donor:

Meanwhile, Chicago will also be hit up by Bubba Clinton on October 23rd for a $10,000 per person fundraiser at a steakhouse. Ha, that’s a far cry from the prices Ryan is getting.

    • That’s good news about Susan Crown but I don’t see why she would have supported Obama in the first place. McCain was always better on Israel and never that much of a social conservative or any other kind of conservative for that matter. Better late than never. Converts, political or otherwise, are the usually the strongest supporters…penance.

  4. Why issue a schedule when we informed know it’s the samo ole samo day in and day out.
Why doesn’t Mr. PissAnt (sic), spend let’s say 30 minutes doing something productive as like in resigning.

  5. Sorry to be O/T. Obama is hiding the fact that more workers are going directly to collecting disability payments after their unemployment checks run out. Eligibility rules have changed and made it much easier to qualify. Romney needs to hammer him on this growing problem!

Disability Ranks Outpace New Jobs In Obama Recovery

More workers joined the federal government’s disability program in June than got new jobs, according to two new government reports, a clear indicator of how bleak the nation’s jobs picture is after three full years of economic recovery.

The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration.

The disability ranks have outpaced job growth throughout President Obama’s recovery. While the economy has created 2.6 million jobs since June 2009, fully 3.1 million workers signed up for disability benefits.

In other words, the number of new disability enrollees has climbed 19% faster than the number of jobs created during the sluggish recovery. (Even after accounting for people who left the disability program because they died or aged into retirement, disability ranks have climbed more than 1.1 million in the past three years.)

And the disability ranks will continue to swell. In just the last month, almost 275,000 put in applications for disability benefits. Experts say that more people try to get on disability when jobs are scarce, and changes to eligibility rules enacted back in 1984 have made it far easier to qualify.

In addition, while hiring has been very weak during the recovery, the number of people who have dropped out of the labor force entirely has exploded by 7.3 million since June 2009, an IBD analysis of BLS data show. Some aged into retirement, but most either signed up for disability, stayed in school, moved back in with parents, or just quit looking for a job.

As a result, the “labor force participation rate” – the number of people who have jobs or are actively looking for one compared with the entire working-age population – is now 63.8%, down from 65.7% in June 2009. This participation rate is at the lowest levels in 30 years. In previous recoveries, the participation rate has almost always risen, not fallen.

Other indicators show that the three-year-old economic recovery isn’t producing jobs in adequate numbers:

The unemployment rate has been above 8% for 41 consecutive months. In the previous 60 years, the jobless topped 8% in a total of only 39 months.

The number of people with jobs is still nearly 5 million below its pre-recession peak.

The number of long-term unemployed – those out of work 27 weeks or more – is still 5.4 million – almost 1 million higher than when the recovery began, and almost twice the level it ever reached prior to Obama’s recovery.

  6. I guess he has to go out to LaLaland to make himself feel better about himself. All his Hollywood buds will make a fuss over him and all will be well again.

    • He is also out there with his baleful glare delivering canned
“hurt lines” on how someone got tough on Big Bird…I wish he had gotten that tough on terrorists slamming our embassy. He is rambling along on the same old thing about how Romney is pitching over money to his rich friends. So yesterday…

Still we can’t get cocky–finally seeing some of his idiocy out in the open makes me even more afraid of having more yrs of it!

      • I enjoy PBS but agree it no longer needs federal funding especially in light of our deficit. Big Bird and Sesame Street rake in millions in profits for PBS. And i beleive that many of the big hit drama programs on PBS come from commercial TV in the UK, not the BBC.

        • I agree,I love PBS,but even if its just a drop in the bucket as far as spending, you have to start somewhere. All the little drops add up eventually, and I’d rather not fund a TV station when people can’t afford to eat.
