Obama Blames Republicans for Bad Jobs Number

by Keith Koffler on September 7, 2012, 7:30 pm

This morning, we found out the economy only created 96,000 jobs in August.

This afternoon, we found it was the Republicans’ fault for failing to pass President Obama’s ingenious remedies. Here’s what Obama said at a rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Today we learned that after losing around 800,000 jobs a month when I took office, businesses added private-sector jobs for the 30th month in a row. But that’s not good enough. We know it’s not good enough.

Sounds like he forgot to mention the actual jobs number, which was nice of him, since it’s Republicans’ fault.

If Republicans are serious about getting rid of joblessness, they can create one million new jobs if Congress passes the jobs plan I sent them.

One millllllllion new jobs.

What jobs plan? Last I heard the GOP House sent about 16 bills to the Senate and still sitting on Harry’s desk.

Sadie September 7, 2012 at 9:59 pm

There’s a lot of paperwork on Harry’s desk.

The Office of Management and Budget has repeatedly failed to make legal deadlines. It delivered its presidential budget proposals and mid-session updates late both this year and last year.

http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/budget/248213-white-house-will-miss-fiscal-cliff-deadline

Obama blames the R’s for bad job numbers, so does he take the credit for this:
There was good news for American workers in August—if government was their employer. The unemployment rate for government wage and salaries workers dropped from 5.7 percent in July to 5.1 percent in August. At the same time, the number of government wage and salary workers counted as unemployed dropped by 123,000 people from 1,182,000 in July to 1,059,000 in August. The overall national unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in August. A year ago, in August 2011, there were 1,271,000 unemployed government wage and salary workers. So, the number of unemployed government workers has dropped by 212,000 since then.

Keep in mind also that as Obama repeatedly blames Bush for the debacle he inherited, Bush was working with the democratic congress that created the housing collapse.
Bush tried numerous times to stop it and they shut him out.
Clinton is responsible for a balanced budget while working with a republican congress.

Sadie September 8, 2012 at 2:09 pm

AFVET – At this juncture in time, the list of the blameless has only one name on it – HIS. If he loses the election, he will blame even the D’s for not sending enough money.

Michael September 7, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Anyone besides Michelle and Sandra Fluke buy this scam?

Robin H September 7, 2012 at 9:46 pm

Unfortunately yes, they do believe it. But when I hear someone blame the republicans I’m going to ask them to explain what exactly Obama’s plan is.

CAR September 7, 2012 at 11:51 pm

Good idea. If someone says something positive about Obama, I’ll ask “Why?” and “How?” and “In what way?” — any kind of question. I guarantee he/she will become flustered and unable to answer.

AFVET September 8, 2012 at 10:24 am

No CAR, they will call you a racist.

Mike C September 8, 2012 at 5:39 am

one million new jobs if you are a union member of some sort.

Langley Spook September 8, 2012 at 6:45 am

Thats what I always figured. “Infrastructure jobs” like building roads, bridges, etc. in construction are UNION jobs, I cant get a job pouring concrete, welding or survey work because those are UNION jobs not open to the public.

Car in September 8, 2012 at 8:03 am

I love the way Ds think that “infrastructure” jobs are a boon to the economy. Street and bridge repair DESTROYS local businesses. Restaurants can go out of business if customers have limited access for an extended period of time.

Near me, a cute down has spend the entire summer doing repairs to the main drag through town- which was completely closed. ALL SUMMER. foot traffic is even limited. I wonder if you asked those business owners how the infrastructure spending has affected their bottom line.

And, really – when it’s done? It’s just another road. Perhaps a bit smoother. Maybe a bit wider. But does anyone go to a store or restaurant because the road in front of it is so nice and smooth?

Obama didn’t waste any time over-riding George Bush’s Executive Order for Open Bidding on Federal and Federally Funded Construction Projects:

Yes, DeniseVB, I do get tired of the libs costantly blaming the Republicans in the House. In fact, while watching the democratic convention, I never saw so
many losers all together in one place, except maybe those Wallmart videos.Last night we had planned to watch Obama speak, but luckily for us,
our electricity went off for 3 hours, as they the whole neighborhood. Lucky us.

Car in September 8, 2012 at 8:04 am

Yea, I don’t think the close-ups of the crowd did them any favors.

Granny Jan/Janice September 7, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Gallup’s newest poll said that Obama’s approval rating jumped up to 52%.

Shoot me now. It will be less painful in the long run.

Knothead September 7, 2012 at 7:50 pm

Gallup? Bout as reliable as Obama.

Star September 8, 2012 at 7:26 pm

And as AP.

Girly1 September 7, 2012 at 8:15 pm

Did he drop the lawsuit against Gallup yet?

Sadie September 7, 2012 at 8:46 pm

He was going to send one of his Chicago boys to rough’em up, but decided Rahm better get on the fundraising trail instead.

If Gallup is reporting 52% – maybe they sent “muscles” Michelle to “straighten them out”.

if you’ll look at real clear politics, the gallup only asked adults. the rest either ask registered voters or likely voters. gallup has a lawsuite against them so i guess it’s their way of getting back at the obama gourp. give them a since of security. i truly hope this idoit loses!!!

What jobs plan? Did I miss the fantastic job-creating bill he penned during one of his Red-Bull fueled all-nighters? He must have lost it somewhere on his way back from a “Man’s Country” visit.

rawheadrex September 7, 2012 at 8:15 pm

I was talking to an investment counselor last Tuesday and he confirmed what I already knew; corporations(those things which aren’t people) are sitting on as much money as they have ever had. But the only spending is for projects for which current low interest rates apply; not expanding and hiring people. That won’t change until business has a friendlier atmosphere in Washington which sets some rules and sticks to them.
That, clearing the Keystone and opening the Gulf, which would return ninety cents of every energy dollar instead of thirty cents as we get from overseas energy, will make America energy independent by 2020 and ignite economic recovery beyond our wildest dreams.

Sadie September 7, 2012 at 8:41 pm

By coincidence, I also spoke with an investment counselor this past Wednesday. The $16 trillion give-a-way to wallstreet/bank here and in Europe will never be fully recouped. Final GAO report/audit of the Federal Reserve will be coming around mid-October. Wonder how they’ll dress it up in washed and/or new clothing. I received the same confirmation as you, companies are sitting on oodles of money and it’s probably one of the reasons the market hasn’t taken a major dive off the fiscal cliff again.

Mark Holbrook September 7, 2012 at 8:19 pm

This should make it clear for all the liberal media and commentators who were bent on trashing any and everything that Clint “Dirty Harry” Eastwood or other speakers said at the Republican convention. Of course, liberals have a difficult time accepting the truth. They, like the president, believe that a lie told enough times becomes the truth. We should all work extremely hard to help “make Clint’s day” on November 6th and put BO in the unemployed line.

“President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people,” Eastwood told The Pine Cone this week. “Romney and Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that’s what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.”
“I had three points I wanted to make,” Eastwood said. “That not everybody in Hollywood is on the left, that Obama has broken a lot of the promises he made when he took office, and that the people should feel free to get rid of any politician who’s not doing a good job.” (Clint Eastwood)

Jack September 7, 2012 at 10:04 pm

Obama, The Greatest Hoax Ever Perpetrated On The American People, remembers the republican congress only when he needs an escape goat to justify his failures, for other things, he ignores the congress and sign executive orders.

Lizzy September 7, 2012 at 10:10 pm

The only jobs plan Obama could have would be a restaurant guide or a hotel
review.

Susan September 7, 2012 at 10:35 pm

Clint Eastwood is so right. Obama is “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people”. I remember wondering why he only wanted to campaign in academic locations. Mark Levin explained it all tonight. Looks like he’s got his drones registering students to vote just like the ACORN drones did in 2008.

See, he’s not speecifying to us, he’s talking to the young people. Chances are many of these new college students attending his swing state rallies haven’t heard his blame game before. Conning the kids into believing he really cares about them, then registering them to vote for him will be his primary focus the rest of the campaign. Parents beware, there’s a child abuser on the loose at a high school or university near you. As Waylon Jennings might say…mommas don’t let your babies grow up to be Marxists.

Jack September 8, 2012 at 12:48 am

Mark Levin is a very intelligent man and it is demonstrated once more by identifying the dirty maneuvers of the obama’s bunch with the university students. Mr. Levin again hits another one out of the park. Great guy, true American!

Girly1 September 7, 2012 at 11:20 pm

It has been obvious from Day One that both Obamas are political child predators. On their third day in office, they ‘escaped’ to an inner city classroom of third graders. My first thought was don’t they have more important things to do???

Honestly, I can’t understand why SOMEONE in Congress didn’t start an inquiry of sorts to put the kibosh on their extracurricular activities. A law should have been passed to keep ‘all’ politicians off school campuses. Since the Obamas are the ONLY school yard predators, it would have stopped them in their tracks.

Clint Eastwood gets it too:
“And I think it’s that time. And I think if you just kind of stepped aside and Mr. Romney can kind of take over.
You could still use the plane. Though maybe a smaller one. Not that big gas guzzler when you’re going around to colleges and talking about student loans and stuff like that.”

srdem65 September 7, 2012 at 11:24 pm

The people, the big corporations, that stoke the fires of our economy are sitting by, keeping the embers glowing. Nothing is going to happen until they are assured by Washington that the tax rates are settled, that Obamacare is no longer lurking like a vulture over their bottom line, and that some sanity will be returned to our financial future.
If and when MrRomney is elected to the Presidency and Congress has been returned to a centrist majority, the big guys will light up our economy.

There’s no other explanation that makes sense for our economy to be slowing other than the uncertain mandates that might come down from Washington in taxes or regulations.
Jobs aren’t created by Washington but they can be destroyed by a government run amok with unbridled power.

The Original September 7, 2012 at 11:45 pm

We aren’t a large corporation, but we are not spending any more money that we absolutely have to spend. Just too much uncertainty. We have had so many people stop by and want to apply for a job, but we just aren’t encouraging them to leave an application. We have no idea if or when we might be hiring again.

OldTimer September 8, 2012 at 8:22 am

srdem65…Re: Obamacare. I heard on the radio that the 2,000 page bill already has 13,000 pages of regulations to implement it Appears every mom and pop will have to hire one person on the payroll just to make sure they comply with Obamacare!! Maybe the universities will have to add a new major…..something like Obamacare Manager.

Robin H September 8, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Buffets company owns ADP, which is a payroll company. It would be a boom to his bottom line if more small companies can’t be bothered to do their own payroll anymore.

Julie Brueckheimer September 7, 2012 at 11:33 pm

I think I’m losing my mind: after all these numbers, Reuters claims Obama got a 2 point bounce from the convention!

Car in September 8, 2012 at 8:08 am

Don’t despair. 2 points is a *very* small bounce.

Romney’s was similar, but he had already gotten a bit of a bounce when he announced Ryan, so that muted the effect of the RNC convention.

Girly1 September 7, 2012 at 11:38 pm

Corporate America has been sitting on the sidelines with nearly $2 Trillion in cash. If Romney wins, happy days are here again. Conversely, if Obama wins, my bet is there will be a huge sell-off on Wall St. in anticipation of Taxmageddon and 4 more years of the wealth destroyer. Obama will rue the day he lusted over a second term. He won’t be able to clean up his own mess!

Sadie September 7, 2012 at 11:47 pm

I don’t think he really gives a damn if he creates or leaves a mess. For him it’s all about the progressive ideology. He wants a level playing field, even if it means leveling the economy. He’s never going to leave the job broke or poor.

Girly1 September 8, 2012 at 12:25 am

I think he’s worried about his ‘legacy’….

RickW September 8, 2012 at 7:47 am

Sadie/Girly1, AMEN to those thoughts! Dear Leader now realizes he is done for and he wants to position himself as a spokesman for the oppressed masses, the brave, handsome black man against corporate (aka: Republican) greed, injustice, etc etc. In his mind, this will translate into numerous book deals, speaking engagements, etc allowing him to blackmail (pun intended) himself onto the boards of various corporations. A two headed Al Sharpton/Bill Clinton figure, so to speak. Moo will infiltrate food companies in the same way, perhaps having her own TV show and the girls will be hired as reporters by CNN & the Washington Post when they come of age.

These people are NOT going away.

Sadie September 8, 2012 at 1:48 pm

“These people are NOT going away.”

Rick, I know. My fervent desire is to see them “Fluke” themselves, so that they breed fewer progressives.

Car in September 8, 2012 at 8:09 am

What I found kind of interesting was that the final paragraph of his speech was all about the road we’re on. I wrote about it here.

We know what road he wants us to travel down.

RickW September 8, 2012 at 8:20 am

Nice job, Car. I’m sure Bam likes the serfdom concept.

Car in September 8, 2012 at 8:36 am

I’m sure. I just think everyone needs to know the reality of what he’s talking about.

I think most Dems don’t realize it. They laugh off the iea that he’s a socialist. Or say stupid things like “Well, we socialize all sorts of things, and you approve of that!”

If people [average Dem] read “The Road to Serfdom” – they’d crap their pants.

Susan September 8, 2012 at 10:53 am

Great blog post, Car in. I was searching for the Reader’s Digest condensed version of the “The Road to Serfdom” and came across this video. It was made from a 1940′s Look Magazine comic strip. Pretty good video but they don’t pause long enough for these old eyes to read the text. Still very frightening…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkz9AQhQFNY

MarjoJimbo September 8, 2012 at 3:51 pm

The text went way too fast. I couldn’t read it, either. Wondering if there was a voice over for the comic strip part.

Susan September 8, 2012 at 8:06 pm

I have the book, was just looking for the link to the condensed version that Reader’s Digest published back in the 50′s. I found the cartoon version used in the video at the end of the article.

Car in September 8, 2012 at 4:58 pm

It’s a pretty short book. I’d recommend a perusal.

The Original September 7, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Does Obama EVER take the blame for anything? I know when you have an ego as large as his it is really, really hard to admit fault . . . but doesn’t he even consider who small he looks by always blaming everyone no matter what is going wrong.

srdem65 September 8, 2012 at 1:39 am

A combination of a huge ego and the bubble formed by his associates are prevent MrObama from doing the one of the things that would help him with the electorate; he needs to apologize, to explain how things went wrong and how he now knows how to fix it.
Americans are forgiving, we allow for human error or failures and root for the underdog. He could allow that not including the ‘other side’ in all of the planning was a mistake. He could call for a thorough re-examination of the Obamacare mandates and taxes to see if it can be repaired to make it more palatable to the taxpayers.
But, no, that will never happen. Too bad for him, because it’s what he should do, must do to redeem his Presidency.

Sadie September 8, 2012 at 2:21 am

The Office of the President was just a means to an end for Obama. I don’t think he ever really considered the enormous demands and meaning of being POTUS. He was ushered in, in many ways, like sneaking into a movie theater when no one was looking or paying attention, because he had friends, who not only sold the ticket, but took the ticket. Obama suffers from arrested development amonst either observations we’ve all made. He reached his peak long before he even became a senator. The suits repackaged him as sold him as a Rolls Royce when in truth he was no more than lemon and a clunker at best. He truly believes that he is the “community organizer” of America. For Obama’s strained ego, it’s all about the “rally” – the results are secondary.

Deadbolt September 8, 2012 at 10:02 am

We need to stop focusing on the Obamanation…

The real issue is the racist/class-warfare luvin cheez-eaters who want what this guy is selling…

They will re-elect him…

Don’t care what that means for me…but it makes me ill to think of what that means for my children….

And to think, his desk ONCE had a sign on it saying, “The Buck Stops Here”. [sigh...]

YOU didn’t earn that! There are NO taxpayers bucks. Money belongs to the State. They only let you keep a little of your ill-gotten gains because you’re so whiny, but you need to understand that everything belongs to the Government, to be doled out by people MUCH better than you in every way. It is only through the benficence of smart, clean, intelligent guys like the saintly Obama that you have anything at all.
