  1. Great idea. Thanks, Keith.

Welcome back from vacation. I hope you got some rest and had some fun. I do appreciate that you still did some posts, even if some us were not too happy with one or two of them and weren’t shy about telling you that. Other than that, we’ve been fairly well behaved this week. I can’t make any promises for election night, though. I for one, will be drinking that night, something I very rarely do.

  2. I heard that they will introduce Clint Eastwood to “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. That’s a great song which I used for my Dirty Barry/Harry video that got an update last night.

For all my political junkihoodness the only speech I’ve seen was Ryan’s on C SPAN this morning. It was a little draggy in the first half but got better. I’ll watch Clint Eastwood and some of Romney’s tonight.

  3. I don’t have Cable TV anymore, so I”m watching C-Span on the computer, but will come back here when the next POTUS starts his speech! Thanks, Keith!

  4. While we wait …
Had to share this with you (cut and pasted from Weasel Zippers). I am calling this one:

    Fear and Loathing in DC.

Drew — Instead of reminding you we’re 24 hours from the election’s biggest FEC deadline, I ask you to use your imagination.

It’s August 2013 and you flip on the news. President Romney is holding a press conference from the Rose Garden highlighting his accomplishments, flanked by GOP leaders who now control the House and Senate. Eight months after their government takeover, Medicare as we know it is gone, Planned Parenthood funding is zero, and they’ve eliminated access to contraception for millions of women.

Really, close your eyes and picture it. Imagine how angry you are.

Future you is even more livid because when you saw Paul Ryan’s convention speech last night, you knew this could happen and that you could have done a little more to help stop it.

So use your imagination once more: It’s a year from today. Obama is still President and Democrats still control the Senate. Medicare, Planned Parenthood and access to contraception are safe from the radical Republicans.

Eight months after their government takeover, Medicare as we know it is gone, Planned Parenthood funding is zero, and they’ve eliminated access to contraception for millions of women.

Yippee! Sounds good to me, can’t wait!!

      • Oh, I’m with Snark on this one ~ I can picture it, and have a major smile on my face just thinking about the dims standing around outside the fence of the WH on Pennsylvania Avenue in 2013 wondering “what happened here?”

    • Clarification – I would say “yippee” to ObummerCare being gone, not Medicare (I read that too fast).

In any event, what a pathetic scare-mongering, desperate email.

      • Snark, if they told the truth, nobody would vote for them. They depend on those who fall for the “pathetic, scare-mongering, desperation” messages that they put out for public consumption.

      • The emails will only escalate during and after the DNC. I am looking forward to January 20, 2013 when the 1-800-GOT JUNK pulls up to the WH to remove the current residents.

        • I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Sadie, but the inauguration will be on January 21st, since the 20th is on a Sunday in 2013. I probably won’t relax until the 22nd, when we know the current occupiers are GONE. I can see them chaining themselves to the real columns at the WH in an effort to hang on to the power and glory!

          • And get this – since the 20th is on a Sunday, the Inauguration has to be moved to Monday and that’s MLK Day. The libs will go nuts…well, even nuttier. I can hear MSNBC talking about the indignity of the first (half)black POTUS being kicked out on MLK Day.

          • I haven’t heard anything about it yet, so I think the liberal weenies haven’t even thought about it yet. But as soon as Romney wins, I predict the crybabies will realize Inauguration Day will be on MLK Day and probably demand we change it. Too bad, elections have consequences. What a difference four years makes.

Oh, and since Moochelle and Obummer have been pushing “service” on MLK Day these last few years, where they go to some community center and hold a paintbrush for a photo opp, I’m sure that when they wrap up the Inauguration festivities that day, they’ll be sure to go donate their time somewhere that afternoon.

          • Ha! Maybe she can wear her $8,000 shirt too, all while the lame stream media gushes over her Target purchases and J. Crew, while getting incensed over An Romney’s $900 blouse.

  5. An Efficient Check-Off List
    Bain Capitol? Defanged
Liberal Democrat? Nothing but good things to say about his humanity.
Olympics? Combo! NRA support and several Olympic GOP supporters.

I think Romney is letting others do the hating. Real leaders don’t point fingers and accuse. “Above all of that, old chap.”

      • LOL, Jan. I’m sure Moochelle will bleed the taxpayers another $5 million or more to go to Hawaii this December, one last time on our dime. Although, if they had even an ounce of decency, they wouldn’t waste any more of our money, especially since they can have all the vacation time they want come January 21st.

          • Jan, I’ve been thinking about for a while and I really do think Moochelle will insist on going to Hawaii this December even though he’s voted out. Ever since he was President-elect in 2008, they’ve been pushing that lie that they go “every year” “to visit family for Christmas”. B.S., they didn’t go every year before that. But, hey when you can go there on our dime like king and queen… I’m just hoping that if they try to pull that this year, someone will demand it looks too bad and is an insult to hard-working taxpayers just struggling to survive that we have to pay for yet another vacation for them right before he’s going to be unemployed and free as a bird anyway. But, you know what? I think he’ll want to go as one last “eff you” to the raaaacist “folks” for kicking his ass out of the WH.

  6. First, I’d like to thank the Repubs for choosing the very best candidate to be our next President. I was ready to vote for anyone that wasn’t MrObama, but now I believe MrRomney will be the best man for our American future.

I watched as much as I could for three nights on C-span so I wouldn’t be distracted by someone else’s opinion. During the breaks between the speakers, I wondered what the heck the Dems could possibly say about MrO that would show his past and what kind of man he is. The published lineup of speakers for the Dems convention seems to be geared to women’s reproduction rights and how wonderful Obamacare is for America.
MrObama has no stellar record of accomplishments to promote after four years in office and he can’t promise anything for the future that would inspire the voters to give another term.

We’ll see. It should be very interesting.

  7. I thought that it was a wonderful speech, nicely delivered. It did show what kind of man Romney is. Gentle and competent would be a nice change.

  8. Heh- Big Head ED on MSLSD heard the ‘dog-whistle’ tonight when Romney said we need an American when there’s a really big job to do.
Like Matthews, if you hear the racist dog whistle, you must be a racist dog.

  9. Agree, srdem. The heart-warming testimonials defined Mitt Romney tonight. Unfortunately, most of them were not aired anywhere but CSPAN. Romney is the anti-Obama – a man with a lifetime of good deeds, accomplishments, family, friends, character and integrity. By contrast, Obama has nothing to show for his 50 years on this planet except a murky, unsavory past. How could he not win this election? It’s a no-contest. We’ll soon find out just far this country has deteriorated – I hope it’s not too late. Hopefully, there are more of ‘us’ than ‘them’!
