President Obama plans to shoot some hoops tonight after a fundraising dinner co-hosted by Michael Jordan. The White House has barred reporters.
I would assume both Obama AND Jordan want the press kept far away. Obama because he could only look much worse than Jordan, and Jordan because he could only look much worse than himself.
Tickets for the dinner, which will include other present and former NBA players, are $20,000 per person, which is part of the reason why I can’t make it.
I think there are a couple of $3 raffle winners who will also attend and get to shoot some hoops with Obama and Jordan. That’s how the contest was billed.
Actually, Obama is quite good at basketball.
Certainly beats those videos we used to see of Bill Clinton jogging around like a ripe tomato.
Here’s a sport Obama definitely should not be filmed participating in.

The “press” will like this story (Obama is soooo cool with Jordan)…but ironically they will not report that they, the “press”, are not allowed to be there…
Also–it was on Fox…all these manly men joshing around…be still my heart.

This evening in New York City, President Obama will be fundraising with “NBA heroes,” according to his spokesman. Those “heroes” include Michael Jordan (who is also a failed baseball player), Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, and, perhaps most interestingly, Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony helped make the pro-drugs YouTube video called “Stop Snitchin.”
“Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony is featured in an underground DVD that is circulating in his hometown of Baltimore, Md,” the Denver Channel reported.
The DVD is called “Stop Snitching” and shows alleged drug dealers talking about what happens to people who cooperate with the police, and Anthony is standing next to one of them.
He is also seen on the DVD talking about his Olympic bronze medal and saying that he threw it in a lake. The man he stands next to later goes on to tell how he would take care of snitches by “putting a hole in their head.” However, Anthony does not appear to be taking part in that portion of the discussion.
c’mon – Melo’s just keeping it real. I’m sure the cops that Melo is banging on were just acting stupidly.
Don’t expect anyone to hold up a moral standard to anyone in the Ubama administration – I mean, why should they start at this point?
I wonder if, after the game, Obama will be demanding to know what % Jordan paid in taxes on his income for the last 10 years, and if he’s done any investing in overseas banks.
Nope…those questions are reserved for Republicans only.

Sorry to contradict you K, ol boy but the POTUS is not “quite good at basketball” -not even on a fair Y league team. It’s pretty commonly known/accepted that C.Kellog while extremely respectful, let him win. And I have no problem w/ that but I’m tired of hearing the POTUS has ‘game’. The POTUS has gamed a lot of people and if that’s the context, I agree.
btw: the Carmello Anthony drug association and admitting to throwing his medal in a lake is disappointing.
Well, at the very least he’s more dangerous than I am from three point land. But I do agree, he has done some other kind of gaming – he was all net on the “hope and change” ruse.

According to the 2010 Census, “Non-Latino White” is 53.7% of the population. Do you see over half of basketball players being white?
“Non-Latino African American” is only 12.2% of the population, while Latinos are 14.3%. Why do we not see more Latino players than African American?
And where are the 4.7% “Non Latino Asian Americans”?
Obama would actually help balance the scales as one of the 1.9% “Two or More Races”, had he not chosen (again) to deny his White heritage and check only “Non Latino African American”.
