Obama B-Ball is CLOSED to the Press

by Keith Koffler on August 22, 2012, 3:25 pm

President Obama plans to shoot some hoops tonight after a fundraising dinner co-hosted by Michael Jordan. The White House has barred reporters.

I would assume both Obama AND Jordan want the press kept far away. Obama because he could only look much worse than Jordan, and Jordan because he could only look much worse than himself.

Tickets for the dinner, which will include other present and former NBA players, are $20,000 per person, which is part of the reason why I can’t make it.

I think there are a couple of $3 raffle winners who will also attend and get to shoot some hoops with Obama and Jordan. That’s how the contest was billed.

Actually, Obama is quite good at basketball.

Certainly beats those videos we used to see of Bill Clinton jogging around like a ripe tomato.

Here’s a sport Obama definitely should not be filmed participating in.

Press or no press–this crud will be worth a news cycle or two.

Langley Spook August 22, 2012 at 4:09 pm

The “press” will like this story (Obama is soooo cool with Jordan)…but ironically they will not report that they, the “press”, are not allowed to be there…

Star August 23, 2012 at 5:25 pm

Also–it was on Fox…all these manly men joshing around…be still my heart.

Rod August 22, 2012 at 4:20 pm

You’d think with all the golf this tool plays he’d actually be better at it.

movedtothefarm August 22, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Golf – is a rich man’s sport – he doesn’t want to look that way does he?

Mark Holbrook August 22, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Maybe this is why the press is not ‘invited.’ From The Weekly Standard:

This evening in New York City, President Obama will be fundraising with “NBA heroes,” according to his spokesman. Those “heroes” include Michael Jordan (who is also a failed baseball player), Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, and, perhaps most interestingly, Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony helped make the pro-drugs YouTube video called “Stop Snitchin.”

“Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony is featured in an underground DVD that is circulating in his hometown of Baltimore, Md,” the Denver Channel reported.

The DVD is called “Stop Snitching” and shows alleged drug dealers talking about what happens to people who cooperate with the police, and Anthony is standing next to one of them.

He is also seen on the DVD talking about his Olympic bronze medal and saying that he threw it in a lake. The man he stands next to later goes on to tell how he would take care of snitches by “putting a hole in their head.” However, Anthony does not appear to be taking part in that portion of the discussion.

Rod August 22, 2012 at 5:55 pm

c’mon – Melo’s just keeping it real. I’m sure the cops that Melo is banging on were just acting stupidly.

Don’t expect anyone to hold up a moral standard to anyone in the Ubama administration – I mean, why should they start at this point?

TX August 22, 2012 at 4:40 pm

I wonder if, after the game, Obama will be demanding to know what % Jordan paid in taxes on his income for the last 10 years, and if he’s done any investing in overseas banks.

Susan August 22, 2012 at 8:06 pm

Nope…those questions are reserved for Republicans only.

DeniseVB August 22, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Aww Keith, please don’t insult Bill Clinton for jogging :( We have a lot of his supporters on our month old facebook page who are voting for Romney, and conservatives who do love and appreciate smart Dems.

For every 100 *likes* our page owner sends a tweet to David Axelrod :D

gracepmc August 22, 2012 at 5:07 pm

Thank God — I REALLY thought they would air this on NBC or ESPN.

Mike Lester August 22, 2012 at 5:12 pm

Sorry to contradict you K, ol boy but the POTUS is not “quite good at basketball” -not even on a fair Y league team. It’s pretty commonly known/accepted that C.Kellog while extremely respectful, let him win. And I have no problem w/ that but I’m tired of hearing the POTUS has ‘game’. The POTUS has gamed a lot of people and if that’s the context, I agree.

btw: the Carmello Anthony drug association and admitting to throwing his medal in a lake is disappointing.

Keith Koffler August 22, 2012 at 10:07 pm

Well, at the very least he’s more dangerous than I am from three point land. But I do agree, he has done some other kind of gaming – he was all net on the “hope and change” ruse.

cindylouwho August 22, 2012 at 6:19 pm

OMG I can’t wait until he is gone

sportinlife10 August 22, 2012 at 8:48 pm

The more he does this kind of ____, the more the MSM ignores, doesn’t report or glosses over, the more often we win. Keep it coming, you fools.
It does seem as if rats are leaving the sinking ship?

jerry August 22, 2012 at 9:10 pm

I can see why the press was kept out….Politico is reporting he told people at the basketball party that Todd Akin is a senator from Missouri….

He is a congressman.

This coming from a man who thinks there are 57 states in this country.

Susan August 22, 2012 at 9:57 pm

Bet I know more names in Congress and the States they represent than he does. Piker.

He makes snide remarks about Todd Akin, while Mark Levin had a fantastic interview about real issues with Paul Ryan tonight…

Jeff1000 August 23, 2012 at 8:41 am

I enjoyed that interview with Paul Ryan too. He gives me hope; the real kind I mean.

I believe he was driving his car at the same time. No teleprompters, just a rearview mirror :-).

SnarkEsq. August 24, 2012 at 2:45 am

Ryan was excellent on Mark’s radio show, as well as on Hannity the other night.

As far as Obummer’s calling Akin a Senator, there’s even more:

Car in August 23, 2012 at 7:27 am

He plays fast and loose with the facts when he speaks. So much of what he knows, isn’t so.

Jeff1000 August 23, 2012 at 1:55 am

Where are the jobs?

46&2 August 23, 2012 at 3:14 am

“Actually, Obama is quite good at basketball.”

Actually, he isn’t.

His release is too slow, too low and his shot is flat. Any halfway decent high school player would knock that garbage into the middle of next week.

cincycinco August 23, 2012 at 8:44 am

Why does Obama associate himself with a business with discriminatory hiring practices?

Using Democrat logic, all races should always be proportionately represented in every field. If this is not the case, it proves disparate impact.

According to the 2010 Census, “Non-Latino White” is 53.7% of the population. Do you see over half of basketball players being white?

“Non-Latino African American” is only 12.2% of the population, while Latinos are 14.3%. Why do we not see more Latino players than African American?

And where are the 4.7% “Non Latino Asian Americans”?

Obama would actually help balance the scales as one of the 1.9% “Two or More Races”, had he not chosen (again) to deny his White heritage and check only “Non Latino African American”.

Someone call Holder quick, so he can shut down this obviously racist employer. Obama can be a witness!

Girly1 August 23, 2012 at 9:52 am

“It’s very rare that I come to an event where I am the fifth or sixth most interesting person”! Is it any wonder that he bans the Press? He is a legend in his own mind. He is the most boring, least interesting, inconsequential braggart I’ve even seen on a national stage. He’s too stupid to know how ignorant he is.

Jeff1000 August 23, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Those NBA players are sooooo interesting hahaha.

Actually, Obama might be correct for once: he’s the 5th or 6th most interesting among uninteresting people.

cincycinco August 23, 2012 at 1:01 pm

Well, he is pretty humble. Remember, he’s only the fourth best President of all time…

But, he’s so historical that he’s part of every OTHER President’s history as well!

Jeff1000 August 23, 2012 at 4:58 pm

What a silly goose he is. Bless his little heart.

ExAFCrewDog August 25, 2012 at 1:01 pm

Suggestion for a sequel to the driving range clip: “A putz and his putter.”

Genuinely when someone doesn’t be aware of after that its up
to other viewers that they will assist, so here it occurs.
