As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Obama Enemy Investigated and Audited

Last August, Idaho businessman Frank VanderSloot gave $1 million to Restore Our Future, the SuperPac supporting Mitt Romney

In April, according to Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberly Strassel, the Obama campaign website put him on one of its enemies lists –  “Keeping GOP Honest” – smearing Vandersloot as one among a group of “wealthy individuals with less-than-reputable records” who in particular was “litigious, combative and a bitter foe of the gay rights movement.”

He’s combative! The nerve of him.

Just 12 days after coming under attack by the Obama campaign, Mr. VanderSloot found out that a private investigator – who had recently worked for the Senate Democrats and was now in the employ of an opposition research firm – was sifting through his records for dirt.

And then on June 21, VanderSloot got a love note from the IRS informing him that he and his wife were being audited, according to Strassel.

Mr. VanderSloot, who is 63 and has been working since his teens, says neither he nor his accountants recall his being subject to a federal tax audit before. He was once required to send documents on a line item inquiry into his charitable donations, which resulted in no changes to his taxes. But nothing more—that is until now, shortly after he wrote a big check to a Romney-supporting Super PAC.

Not to be outdone, the Labor Department got in on the investigation

Two weeks after receiving the IRS letter, Mr. VanderSloot received another—this one from the Department of Labor. He was informed it would be doing an audit of workers he employs on his Idaho-based cattle ranch under the federal visa program for temporary agriculture workers . . .

This letter requests an array of documents to ascertain whether Mr. VanderSloot’s “foreign workers are provided the full scope of protections” under the visa program: information on the hours they’ve worked each day and their rate of pay, an explanation of their deductions, copies of contracts. And on and on.

I’m sure this is all a coincidence. How could the Obama administration do something that would look so obviously bad?

Unless, of course, that’s exactly the point. The bad publicity may be conveying an important message:

If you’re thinking of donating $1 million to a pro-Romney PAC, please make sure your papers are in order, because someone may soon be demanding to see them.

    • Take a gander at who this Vandersloot is and I doubt many people here will want to charge to his rescue.

Let’s see… he makes his money off of a sketchy “Amway” style snake oil business, he routinely threatens unfavorable media outlets with litigation, and he is most famous for taking out a print ad (http://media.salon.com/media/pdf/2005_0605_ResponsibleJournalism.pdf) smearing a (gay) newspaper reporter whose sin was to expose a Mormon boyscout leader as a boy f****r (Vandersloot is a high-profile Idaho Mormon) .

Gee, what else? Well, he is one of Romney’s campaign chairs, but also an unrestricted donor to Romney’s SuperPAC, so he represents the post-Citizens United battery acid that is wrecking democracy for the rest of us… basically, the guy’s CV reads like it was written by Stieg Larsson. The question is, why isn’t he on YOUR enemies list?

      • Death Ray, you ignorant slut… as the SNL line goes.
You are right on board with BHO’s tactics, trying to slime a successful 50yr old American business- probably b/c they are known GOP supporters.
Take your snake oil and shove it up your ….
I hope the GOP takes the white house and turns around and investigates BHO and all his communist buddies and benefactors.

      • Your support of his being investigated just asks more questions. If it’s so obvious the guy is a slime, why the hell was he not investigated sooner? Child molesters are ok, but donate to a conservative candidate and you are taken down. I don’t care what side of the aisle anybody is on, 1) If you’re a kiddy-fiddler, you should be removed from the gene pool. 2) If a donation to a campaign results in a personal attack and investigation, we are not a free country.

Again, it doesn’t matter if the donations were to a dem or a repub, intimidation is not right. The Chicago-land tactics need to stop.

        • I am ambivalent about the IRS’s timing. Sure, it could be payback, although I’d want to see proof. Also, given the propensity of conservatives to assume correlation implies causation (UN Gun treaty/Colorado Theater Slaughter… yeesh, you guys), I would advice you to not jump to conclusions.

In any event, if someone like Frank Vandersloot–who can just peel off a million dollars from his roll to help elect a candidate whose primary agenda is lowering tax rates for Frank Vandersloot, thus making that $1 million investment worth perhaps tens of millions down the road–isn’t worth auditing, who is?

          • See, Death, there’s the rub. He supports ovomit, therefore no investigation.

And soros is as evil as they come. What a coinky dink he supports ovomit.

          • How about just throwing Soros in jail since that is where he belongs? Talk about someone who lives off of ill-gotten gains.

          • Obviously, you must be an IRS employee who knows the tax code inside out, otherwise, your opinion means absolutely nothing. In addition, if an automatic IRS audit is called for when someone contributes a certain amount of money to a political candidate, certainly the millionaires who support Obama would be on IRS’s audit schedule so why haven’t we heard about them?

          • (I think “Death Ray” is a wise-ass Team Obama campaign staffer who trolls ‘Conservative/anti-Obama’ websites for ant-Obama remarks and respones with arrogant, liberal combacks…)

Just wondering…as the Election gets closer do you think Team Obama will somehow find a way to shut-down ‘anti-Obama’ sites like WhiteHouseDossier…? Some lame excuse about a ‘virus’ or something? I would not put that past some of these Obama drones (re: “Death Ray”)

          • The liberals have taken to reporting conservatives as spammers on Twitter. That is their way of silencing the opposition. Wouldn’t put it past them to try to shut down conservative blogs by any means necessary.

          • Not at all. Without some evidence of malfeasance, all is conjecture. Here is the depth of the investigative journalism Kim Strassel engaged in:

            (The White House did not return an email requesting comment.);

Wow! Now that’s how you bring a president down! Try calling the IRS, cookie.

          • I agree with you Death Ray (don’t choke on your chaw). The ability for a single citizen or group to have a relatively large impact on an election (such as a million dollar donation) maybe should carry some extra scrutiny. As Spiderman taught me, with great power comes great responsibility.

On the other hand, allowing people who can be considered successful to have some extra pull with an election might be somehow…right. When was the last time a poor person hired you?

But if a large donation does require an audit, then it should be done for all, not just the opposition party to the current administration. That’s crooked. However, who’s going to pay for these investigations? Ah yes, the taxpayers, as usual.

There’s nothing illegal with donating to the candidate that you think will increase your profit the most. Selfish and short-sighted maybe, but not illegal. How many voters vote according to who they think will improve THEIR finances the most (unfortunately, probably most)?

      • Let’s see. In your opinion, a legitimate business, Amway, which has been around for a long time, is a snake oil business. For what reason? Because it allows individuals to work for themselves rather than the government? Or are you upset that it has provided products that are better for the environment than some big corporation brands and has done so decades before the eco-terrorist’s claim man is destroying the earth? Or possibly, you just don’t like Mormons. Or people who don’t agree with the homosexual agenda?

      • Go Citizens United . . . if all of the organizations that financed by George Soros are okay, then so is Citizens United.

  1. Remember the EPA Eh-hole (that’s the Canadian spelling) who said they had to “CRUCIFY” a few individuals to get the rest to toe the line? I don’t think he came up with that in a vacuum!!!

  2. How could the Obama administration do something that would look so obviously bad? You’re kidding, right?
Have we forgotten the tactical move by HomelandSecurity to cancel the agreement with Arizona concerning illegal aliens in custody right after the SupremeCourt upheld most of Arizona’s illegal alien law? How about the JusticeDepartment suing MaricopaCounty Sheriff JoeArpio for “civil rights” violations of foriegn nationals.

The IRS audit might just be MrVanderSloot’s time in the barrel, so to speak.
A lot of ordinary people have been subjected to probing by the IRS and they weren’t protected by layers of accountants and private lawyers.
The Dept of Labor audit is where the suspicion rises. There are hundreds of thousands of employers who use actual illegal alien workers that are NOT being audited, nor is anyone (outside Arizona) concerned with their criminal activity.

  3. That is what leftists do. They make examples of patriots like Mr. VanderSloot, just like the Romans did. As Al Armendariz, an Obama appointee to the EPA, once said…

It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean. They’d go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them. Then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.

Obama is just checking off the names his enemies list, and apparently Keith and Kimberly Strassel are the only two reporters willing to call him out on it.

  4. ‘Punish your enemies’ seems to be the order of the day for this sleazy thug.

“Evil triumphs when good men do nothing” (Edmund Burke). I just hope there are enough ‘good men’ left to overthrow this tyranical dictator – he is the Kenyan version of Ivan the Terrible! God save this country!

  5. If we have to compare Obama to another past president, he’s becoming more and more like FDR. FDR threatened to pack the Supreme Court if they didn’t approve Social Security and he liberally used the IRS against his enemies.

How can Obama get away with this? Well, who in the media is going to call him out on this?

    • I was raised to believe FDR was the greatest and most loved president of all time. Only after reading Amity Shales book “The Forgotten Man” did I realize how much damage the man did to our Constitutional Republic. President Kardashian may leave behind a tattered Constitution as FDR did, but he will never be remembered as a great or beloved man.

In my opinion Obama shares more similarities to Woodrow Wilson. A racist ivy league intellectual who believed Americans were too stupid to be left to their own devices.

      • Wow! Teel that to all the people who remember him as a great president.

But why be abstract about this alleged “damage”? Why not explain something that you cannot enjoy post-FDR that you could have before him?

          • Well, this would be my point. Conservative theology holds that America has fallen from grace at some point in the 20th century, and yet no ground-levell conservative can actually cite what “freedoms” they have lost. It is not on me to rsaearch this point– I don’t hold to the paranoia. But Susan, you seem to think that we now live in Helltopia, so explain: how did the New Deal/Great Society alter the complexion of American freedoms in a way that effects you personally?

If you can’t show that there is a jackboot on your throat, maybe you are just blowing smoke.

          • Privacy. That has gone out the window, most especially under this administration. Heck, they even grope you at the bus terminals now with Government approval. So, yes, it has personally affected me.

  6. Obama’s Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis, is a card-carrying member of La Raza from CA….nuff said She and her husband owed back taxes on their body shop business when she was appointed – another Obama tax cheat! We are under siege!

  7. That is harrassment. There are laws against it.

I would hope that his Representative and Senators are working behind the scenes to make this cease and desist.

  8. Yep, spooky as all hell. This is the kind of crap that the press needs to be investigating. It wouldn’t be hard to do it without ‘implying’ which side of the aisle was acting corruptively. Just say “A donor to a candidate” was audited…

Just proves how complicit our press is.

  9. I knew Obama was not American when I saw him bow to the King of Saudi Arabia.

Maybe he was born here, but he has no understanding of our values. How revealing it is to see this man and his buddies play our system, obeying the laws the serve them, ignoring the ones that don’t, using as weapons ones that can be put into play to harm “enemies.” Fair play is not in the plan.

And how frightening it was to realize that there are millions of Americans who feel they are superior “post-USA” people. The politically correct viewpoint fuels this delusion that the world is a large college campus and artifical “dialogues” and department-infighting manipulation are the models to make it perfect.

  10. The IRS and the Labor department should follow the same rules as anyone else who practices this form of harrassment: you can be counter sued and counter litigated.
    Go get ’em, Mr. VanderSloot!

  11. And people don’t believe we are living in a KGB/Gestapo-type country. Obama is skilled in the tactics of despot/radicals as he was raised by them, mentored by them, hired by them, and supported by them (and still is, of course). He is at war with all of the ideals, principles, and values upon which America was founded and prospered and thus must destroy everyone and everything standing in his way of becoming dictator for life (and possibly, of the world.)
