Obama: “The Private Sector is Doing Fine”

by Keith Koffler on June 8, 2012, 12:54 pm

On Mars. The Martian private sector is doing fine.

People, be fair, he meant Mars. All over Mars, Martians are going back to work. The flying saucer industry in particular has really taken off, with Martian engineers constructing the next generation of clean-fuel flying saucers to lead the way toward a new kind of interplanetary travel for the 21st century.

Okay, don’t believe that President Obama said the private sector is doing fine in America on earth? Here’s what he said during press conference today at the White House.

A mistake, you say. A rare Obama gaffe. I don’t think so. BECAUSE HE SAID IT TWICE.

The private sector is NOT doing fine.

Even when you don’t count the job losses that have occurred in government, private sector job growth has been weak. If you take Obama’s own figure of 4.3 million private sector jobs created over 27 months, you’re still creating only about 160,000 jobs per month, barely the number needed – because of population growth – to sustain the current unemployment rate of 8.2 percent.

To really get the unemployment rate down, you need to be creating 200,000 to 300,000 jobs per month or more, which is what usually happens during a recovery, EXCEPT NOT THE OBAMA RECOVERY.

Is this going to be the new White House theme song? Is the White House going to try to brainwash the country into thinking the private sector is doing fine. Will the press cooperate in this scam?

People, everything onboard is fine, the iceberg barely touched us. Go back to your dinner. Listen to the nice music. Vote for Obama at the buffet table.

This is truly an outrage. It’s a falsehood. But the more you repeat a lie . . .

This man used to make me laugh at some of his “facts”, then I moved into anger. Seeing and hearing this? He just scared the living @$#% off me. I wonder if he has lost his mind?

srdem65 June 8, 2012 at 2:36 pm

I’m starting to wonder if he’s taking a “dive”. Is he purposely trying to doom his own candidacy or is he really delusional enough to believe that he’s telling the truth.

All the RNC and MrRomney have to do is wait for the next gaffe, the next outrage, and the campaign ads write themselves..

lcsouthern June 8, 2012 at 3:17 pm

Does make you wonder if they have realized the gig is up…

Cooper June 8, 2012 at 3:34 pm

I wonder that also…maybe this is the beginning of Obama’s version of “Gotterdammerung”.

Shofar June 9, 2012 at 9:42 am

Obama does think he’s god, and hopefully this will be his twilight.

Lizzy June 8, 2012 at 1:11 pm

I think we huddled masses yearning to be free of Obama’s 4 years of misery
are getting tired of being taken for fools. Sadly dear leader we are not as
stupid as you wish we were and apparently you are.

ol gator June 8, 2012 at 4:05 pm

Amenth Lizzy ! being a business owner & having lost 1/3 of our business, I take his statement as an insult & hope this proven, lazy, racist idiot keeps on talking… in the process he’s convincing more & more independents not to waste voting for this loon. He must have the absolute lowest IQ of ANY President .. hands down ! …

DeniseVB June 8, 2012 at 1:11 pm

I think the GOP response was “Are you kidding me?”

Brandon P Moore June 8, 2012 at 1:14 pm

All I can say is ….THIS HAS GOT TO STOP! when is the Republican Leadership going to get off their collective rumps and start calling a Duck a Duck… PLEASE! will you all get out there and Fight for crying out loud..

Just2old June 8, 2012 at 1:33 pm

The Romney campaign responds with this statement from spokesman Ryan Williams:

Today, President Obama inexplicably claimed that “the private sector is doing fine.” But the 23 million Americans who are struggling for work are not “doing fine.” Job creators and small businesses are not ‘doing fine.’ The middle class is not “doing fine.” There is no denying that President Obama has been fundamentally hostile to job creators and his policies have prevented our economy from rebounding. America needs a president who understands the economy and knows how to get our country back on track.

Car in June 8, 2012 at 1:17 pm

Keith – when Obama mingles with the private sector at his fundraisers – they ARE doing fine. Duh.

nellyq June 8, 2012 at 1:48 pm

Yessss–those who can attend many of those fundraisers can afford thousands of $$$$ a plate. . .THEY are doing just fine thank you!

DeniseVB June 8, 2012 at 2:59 pm

And you know those “doing fine” donors will do even better after they stroke their checks. Waivers, federal grants and loans, Oh My!

ol gator June 8, 2012 at 4:09 pm

maybe barry’s peeps will classify them as “green donors” $$$$$$$$

Wigglesworth June 8, 2012 at 1:17 pm

The real number of jobs created is closer to 3 million because Obama is not including his 1st year in office. Even so 3 million is very bad number in the 1st 3+ years of a recovery following a bad recession. Reagan created 1.1 million jobs in 1 month during his 3rd year and that was with a smaller population and GDP so on a % basis the disparity is even greater.

The left likes to compare Obama’s job creation to Bush, but it is not a valid one. Bush inherited full employment so there weren’t tens of millions of people looking for work.

Girly1 June 8, 2012 at 1:19 pm

The Marxist Martian has landed! It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that ObaMAO needs another $Trillion Stimulus to bribe his public sector union thugs and the bankrupt Blue states before Nov. 5! He must be on ‘suicide watch’ after the Scott Walker victory!

65andcounting June 8, 2012 at 1:21 pm

The GOP has already Tweeted this video and Romney commented he was incredulous at Obama’s statement. LOVE that the GOP is all over Team Obama.

A.Men June 8, 2012 at 1:23 pm

celebrity President-In-Name-Only: you will be voted off the White House island Nov. 2012 with your fat, ugly alliance, Moochelle!

KmB June 8, 2012 at 1:30 pm

You can almost see ValJar from above pulling the strings on the marionette President. Anyone with a brain, common sense or at the very least the ability to read at a sixth grade level would not have ventured down this nonsensical declaration.

A.J. June 8, 2012 at 1:31 pm

Way back when I was in the Air Force we were taught that our Communist enemies practiced “The Big Lie”. You just keep telling the same lie over and over and louder and louder until the people forget it’s a lie. To be “Fair” (a word which Mr Obama has caused me to detest) BOTH parties practice this subterfuge but the Democrats are MUCH better at is and Mr Obama seems to be attempting to get into the Guinness Book of Records. And don’t forget, he ALSO says he’s a Free Market Warrior AND he’s reined in spending. Next time I go to Disneyland I can skip Fantasy L!!and

Lies on top of more lies. And there will be more lies to come from this joke of a president. It angered me too, a lot; now i just shrug my shoulders and think we got screwed by the dumb masses, media, academia, mindless so-called celebrities, unions, and other assorted lefties. Few listened, nobody vetted this guy. You get what you paid for, I suppose, but I sure as hell did not vote for this parasite. I’ll never forgive what this bastard and the democrats are doing to my country. May they all go to hell.

Laurie June 8, 2012 at 5:29 pm

I’m with you, Coop!

mo1 June 8, 2012 at 1:50 pm

He never gives a press confernece in which he actually answers questions wtih facts. He just repeats his stump speech and drones on and on (like Bill Clinton did in his first speech at the Democtratic convention) so that the press cannot ask a lot of questions. Also, he just gives lectures — to the Europeans (who must really be tired of it), Congress and us (who are no longer listening). This is why we should never have elected a law professor (even a part-time one at that) and community organizer who never held a real job and had to deliver a report, with real facts, to a boss.

Suzie June 8, 2012 at 1:51 pm

He is a consummate liar. He is also a pathetic abject failure. I pray that he is a one-termer.
Vote. ABO.

gracepmc June 8, 2012 at 1:52 pm

You know that car filled with choom smoke that Obama used to do roof hits in? Now it’s just one big smoke filled bubble.

srdem65 June 8, 2012 at 2:00 pm

Everywhere HE goes, people are doing “fine”. He looks around DC and sees a vibrant economy. He goes to his fundraisers and sees people get out of limosines with big fat wallets waiting to be plucked. He goes on a lavish vacation and everyone he sees is on a lavish vacation, too.
He associates with highly paid entertainers and professional athletes who have money to burn.

For him to admit that things are not “fine” is to admit that he is a failure.

AnotherOpinion June 8, 2012 at 2:11 pm

He is a failure

ol gator June 8, 2012 at 4:23 pm

He’s more than just a failure.. he’s a dumb, arrogant, low class, profane, celebrity worshipping, muslim favoring, racist, selfish, hen-pecked,
wife fearing, lost ball in the high weeds, money hungry failure!! There ! that should do it ! ( for now)

Shofar June 9, 2012 at 10:11 am

The thing is, in DC, unemployment amongst blacks is the highest in the nation. And the total amount of wealth lost by blacks during the past 3+ years is staggering. For a man who likes to claim his “blackness” he turns his back on the black middle class, black youth, and the traditional black morality that had made black communities strong.

In ’08 many black leaders questioned Obama’s “blackness” but decided that half a loaf is better than none. I wonder how many of them now are suffering from buyer’s remorse? The man never understood what the real intent of the civil rights movement was, and what MLK truly stood for. He never had to really suffer the disparities of life that so many blacks endured during the years before the march on Selma or the “I have a dream” speech.

Obama, like so many of today’s young blacks, reaped the benefits of what King, Abernathy, Bond, Du Bois, Evers, and others sowed, and yet fail to understand the true meaning of equality. It means giving everyone, regardless of color, a chance to pursue their dreams, hopes, and aspirations. His pandering to a predominately white, upper class, elitist group of donors shows his true character. He is a hustler, a huckster, and a sell out. He has and will continue to throw any and everyone under the bus to achieve his goal, and that is re-election.

AnotherOpinion June 8, 2012 at 2:11 pm

Anyone who works for a temp agency or for a construction company is counted as creating a new job every time the job site changes. Temporary jobs or seasonal jobs are also counted as “new jobs created”. His numbers on employment are as valid as the definition of “green jobs”. He said nothing new, same old tripe.
It is as certain that he has learned something devastating to his agenda is going to be released and he wanted to head it off with his “news Conference”. Notice how he took questions from only 3 people. that isn’t a news conference. It’s a stump speech.

What to me was the most offensive was his insistent “MY White House!”. The White House belongs to the citizens of America. He is only a temporary tenant, and not a very gracious, grateful, or respectful one either.

SpySmasher June 8, 2012 at 2:13 pm

He’s NOT lying! Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna WIntour ARE doing fine. And to Obama, they represent the private sector. So there! You are all raaaaaacists!

Susan June 8, 2012 at 2:36 pm

If this isn’t iron-clad proof that this man is delusional, then we’re living in an alternate universe where where up is really down, and left is really right, and 2 + 2 = 5. Obama needs a psych evaluation stat.

RickW June 8, 2012 at 4:06 pm

I hope Bo gets along with the officer carrying the nuclear codes. “Nice doggie….Where’s your master, Pal? Ohhhhh at the doctor’s?”

cindy lu June 8, 2012 at 3:22 pm

The real news is obama had a press conference! dang!

wcc June 8, 2012 at 4:14 pm

“WE” created???
Who is he kidding? “They” didn’t create a bloody thing! His policies are exactly what is hindering healthy job growth. Is this guy on drugs or is he just too wrapped up trying to pick & choose those that he wants to “win?” Perhaps both??

joyce tebbetts June 8, 2012 at 6:55 pm

@65andcounting – it’s about time the Republicans take the high road and fight, damn it….hope Romney can do it. He came out pretty quick today with a response to BHO’s ridiculous statements. He needs to GO.

bill perkins June 8, 2012 at 8:29 pm

they attack Obama for who his support comes from, but nobody, says a damn thing about f’n Trump, weirdo Ted Nugent the mass amount of private sector businee men supporting the wedding cake man! and all the idiots on the reoublican side that continue to open their mouth oops that Mc Connel and Cantor the two reasons Obama cant get anything passed (PRAM)Republican Personal Agenda Management)! I dont care who you are if you are republican you vote that way only to get rich, and cant see that Romney is only giving a crap about the upper class!!!

Just2old June 8, 2012 at 9:04 pm

Robin H June 9, 2012 at 9:21 am

Interpretation: Evil Republicans get money from rich people and only care about getting richer. It’s always the same crap repackaged and respewed in ever more unintelligable ways. Like rabid dogs foaming at the mouth, it’s all they can do. So sad, really.

Chuck Thomas June 9, 2012 at 1:35 pm

Bill, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Chuck Thomas June 9, 2012 at 1:46 pm

Without his trusty TOTUS, this little man sure can stray from message. Not even the most liberal in the country would say that the private sector is doing fine. This kind of statement must surely be an embarrassment even to them. The differences between liberals and conservatives rests no so much on the question of whether the economy doing “fine” but rather how to go about improving it. Obama is a pain in the a$$ for both sides of the political spectrum. I am guessing that at least in some demoncrat quarters there is some buyers remorse with this idiot.
