Barack Obama, Man of History

by Keith Koffler on May 16, 2012, 11:55 am

Some of you are probably aware of reports that the White House has polluted the biographies of presidents on the White House website with crass promotional references to President Obama added in at the end of many of them.

For example:

Ronald Reagan:

Did you know?

  • President Reagan designated Martin Luther King Jr. Day a national holiday; today the Obama Administration honors this tradition, with the First and Second Families participating in service projects on this day.
  • In a June 28, 1985 speech Reagan called for a fairer tax code, one where a multi-millionaire did not have a lower tax rate than his secretary. Today, President Obama is calling for the same with the Buffett Rule.

John F. Kennedy:

Did you know?

  • President John F. Kennedy famously suggested the American people: “Ask what you can do for your country.” In 1961, the Peace Corps was created, facilitating service among citizens working toward peace in developing countries. In 2011, President Obama celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps with a Presidential Proclamation.

Franklin Roosevelt:

Did you know?

  • On August 14, 1935, President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act. Today the Obama Administration continues to protect seniors and ensure Social Security will be there for future generations.

Did you know Obama continues to protect Social Security? Did you know?

The White House added insult to injury by trying to pretend to Fox News that it was merely offering some links to other parts of the website, “a commonly used best practice to encourage people to browse more pages on a site.”

A ham-handed attempt at deception that demonstrates how stupid the White House thinks you are. Or thinks Fox News is. I’ve removed the links, BTW.

The effort to piggy back Obama atop is being lampooned on very active Twitter hashtag, #ObamaInHistory. Here’s a photo someone uploaded. It possibly has been photoshopped.

H/T to Redstate Editor Erick Ericson on whose Twitter feed I found this.

‘s a good thing Baracka Hussein Obama cannot edit the bible.

“The One” is soon to be “The Once”.

2012 – End of an Error.

A.J. May 16, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Wadda youse mean, “cannot”?

gracepmc May 16, 2012 at 2:57 pm

Beedogs — Don’t you know The One is The Word? It’s the BO version.

ol gator May 16, 2012 at 3:00 pm

No, baraka can’t edit the bible. He’s not that smart..Remember ,his ex- spiritual advisor is the maniacal racist “rev” wright…baraka chooses his own superior mind over the word of the God he claims to know..
I used to think it was wacky of those who claimed he was muslim..
Now truly believe he IS muslim..
But he could never follow muhammed or Christ.. He’s too busy worshipping himself!

Chas May 16, 2012 at 12:18 pm

When you have no record to run on, you resort to outright lies and deception. Problem is, half of the nation just might fall for it. This guy needs to go in November, no question about that.

65andcounting May 16, 2012 at 12:27 pm

Isn’t this illegal???????????????????/ How can one begin to tamper with history? Where’s Holder and the FBI when you need them??

langley spook May 16, 2012 at 12:45 pm

For good progressives, history is constantly “evolving”.

Sadie May 16, 2012 at 12:30 pm

Did you know?

Abraham Lincoln had a beard and Obama married one.

Chuck Thomas May 16, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Thank you, Sadie. That one is excellent. Afraid that expression might not be widely enough known, but for those who do know, you’ve just posted a really funny comment.

Sadie May 16, 2012 at 4:49 pm

It wasn’t lost on you or Girly1. ; )

Susan May 16, 2012 at 4:57 pm

Betcha it wasn’t lost on any of Keith’s readers, except for the few drones who find their way here. Your comment is a keeper Sadie ;-)

SnarkEsq. May 17, 2012 at 4:15 am

LOL, Sadie! I’m just catching up on yesterday’s news and didn’t see that one coming, almost spilled my coffee!

Girly1 May 16, 2012 at 12:34 pm

What color were the Crayolas, Keith?

Girly1 May 16, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Too funny, Sadie….ROFL!

gracepmc May 16, 2012 at 12:38 pm

Probably an idea cooked up by Valerie, seconded by Moochelle (surprised we don’t have First Lady insertions as well — maybe that’s phase 2) and approved by Obama Himself. Jay was probably assigned the task of actually posting the points so that he could discuss them. And Holder assured everyone that although it might not be politically correct, it most assuredly was not illegal.

DeniseVB May 16, 2012 at 1:03 pm

Ohhhh, good idea, wonder if MO’s already inserted herself into the First Ladies bios on the WH site ?

Isn’t .gov the same as an envelope franking ? There must be a law being violated using the .gov sites for campaigny stuff.

William May 16, 2012 at 1:52 pm

Actually, they do. If you read them, several of the additions mention her by name. Eisenhower’s for instance.

Susan May 16, 2012 at 2:41 pm

If you look up the first ladies on the WH page, Mooch is the only one with a photo…

gracepmc May 16, 2012 at 2:48 pm

Thanks you guys. To me it was a nightmare fantasy — I will abstain from checking how much Moochelle has penetrated into the fabric.

Mari May 16, 2012 at 3:12 pm

I didn’t see anything on Mamie’s page, but I think the following sentence from Jackie Kennedy’s needs to be updated from:

She devoted much time and study to making the White House a museum of American history and decorative arts as well as a family residence of elegance and charm.

She devoted much time and study to making the White House a museum of American history and decorative arts as well as a family residence of elegance and charm. Michelle Obama has since treated these elegant, public rooms as her own personal playgrounds of self-promotion, sweating on the East Room carpets and kicking soccer balls in the State Dining Room, because it is, after all, all about her.

Anonna May 16, 2012 at 4:18 pm

Dolly Madison saved the famous portrait of George Washington that Michelle Obama bounced by in her “Let’s Move” promotion with some comedian.

Just2old May 16, 2012 at 12:41 pm

Did you know?

Herbert Hoover was a closet queen and now the obama administration is totally out of the closet?

langley spook May 16, 2012 at 12:42 pm

wtf? my sign-in?

Just2old May 16, 2012 at 12:47 pm

And I just got your sign-in (deleted it)

langley spook May 16, 2012 at 12:48 pm

I still want to see “Barack Hussein Obama” “College Records”.

I dont understand how I need to submit to a ‘SF-86 form’ etc. for an entry level US Govt. job… yet a guy like “Barack Hussein Obama” has NEVER filled out a ‘Security Clearance Form’….

ol gator May 16, 2012 at 3:11 pm

Makes me wonder who or what is behind his placement in our WH.
Something isn’t quite right in all this…there are just too many questions about how an unknown kenyan can waltz into power without anyone
knowing who he really is….

Susan May 16, 2012 at 12:46 pm
gracepmc May 16, 2012 at 2:54 pm

Susan, Twitchy — my go to laugh a day. Ridicule — gee, that Alinsky fellow might have been on to something. Too bad the Obamaites never get the hang of it.

Robin H May 16, 2012 at 3:15 pm

That’s because they have no sense of humor. Only conservatives are able to make up good jokes. Or maybe we just have better material to pick from…

Sadie May 16, 2012 at 6:44 pm

Twitchy is a keeper. The material just writes itself and the idjit and his sidekick Joe McMoron, just keep pouring it on. I’d take the shovel out of their hands, but how would I get my daily giggle on.

William Carroll May 16, 2012 at 1:07 pm

Keith, is it me or are you getting more flabbergasted and disgusted with Obama’s tactics? Seems so in your verbiage in this piece. You are not alone by any means. It appears that Obama et al. may be feeling things slipping away with no options other than to insult some of us with pathetic tactics like the White House web site, attacking Romney donors, last minute “to do” lists for Congress, and sudden conversions in support of gay marriage to list a few. Also, the so-called “mainstream” media is starting to get desperate too. Never mind what is obviously best for the country. Let’s pull all the stops and get Obama re-elected just so that “history” will show how inclusive we all are. It’s still early, but time moves on. This is going to get very ugly very soon!

Keith Koffler May 16, 2012 at 10:06 pm

I am starting to live in a state of constant disbelief.

SnarkEsq. May 17, 2012 at 4:19 am

My sympathies, Keith. I don’t know how you do it, witnessing this mess up close day after day. But, we thank you for it!

Lizzy May 16, 2012 at 1:08 pm

If you have no history of your own to look to Obama has to use/blame others.
What a pathetic little loser he is and this must be illegal and made to be removed now!

kmbog May 16, 2012 at 1:08 pm

‘It possibly has been photoshopped.’ Oh ye of little faith.

Boo May 16, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Narcissistic Personality Disorder diagnosis confirmed – and then some.

daybreak May 16, 2012 at 1:42 pm

Not only is this a stupid and oh-so-apparent attempt to link Obama to all his predecessors accomplishments, but I really REALLY doubt that President Reagan’s call for a fairer tax code included the reference that a multi-millionaire should not have a lower tax code than his secretary. So now Obama is “calling for the same”?? Give me a break.

I almost said ‘unbelievable’, but unfortunately, with this administration, their ridiculous and juvenile attempt at self-promotion is entirely believable. That they think anyone else believes their explanation is what is unbelievable. FAIL.

Cooper May 16, 2012 at 1:58 pm

I have my doubts the Chosen One is going to leave peacefully after the election. Nothing this corrupt, lying, socialist bastard and his administration does is surprising anymore.

Anonna May 16, 2012 at 4:21 pm

For me it’s continually surprising that they can find worse things to do — I suppose a coup d’etat is not out of the question.

anneinarkansas May 16, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Shameless, Classless, Tasteless…better stop before I get in trouble!
Vote Him Out!

veritaseequitas May 16, 2012 at 2:38 pm

He’s history alright.

langley spook May 16, 2012 at 2:49 pm

…being a History Major (and Political Science double-major), this makes me vomit…

daybreak May 16, 2012 at 2:50 pm

I guess if he can’t win reelection this time, he could always try running as Forrest Gump.

Mari May 16, 2012 at 3:16 pm

Did you know Prtesident Obama …

I would put something there but I can’t think of anything positive that he accomplished – no Osama was gunned down by the Marines, no matter what Letterman thinks.

ImNoDhimmi May 16, 2012 at 3:32 pm

Disgraceful. The current trend of “revising” history is deeply disturbing.

MichelleIndependent May 16, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Barry exhibits the signs of mental illness.

rulierose May 16, 2012 at 7:26 pm

did anybody read any of the supposedly untouched presidential bios? I read a few and somehow all the good things about each president just happen to be the same things that Obama thinks are important (eg Washington “harassed the British” and knew that “foreign policy was ultimately a presidential decision” or words to that effect)?

I may be paranoid but I think they changed the other ones too!

Susan May 17, 2012 at 9:13 am

At least one of the authors of the book the WH uses for those presidential biographies is a big Obama sycophant. Not surprised to see a leftist slant in all the presidential write ups, rulierose…

AZ Granny May 16, 2012 at 7:34 pm

The current president should be prohibited from altering WH history on the website or anywhere else. He could be in charge of his own web page but not anything else relating to past history or others in current history. We used to have presidents with integrity that were good shepherds of the WH and furnishings but since Obamas don’t care or have common sense, there needs to be a national caretaker that locks things up and prohibits using the WH as a gym or would have prevented Obama from sending the bust of Churchill back to England.

Jean May 17, 2012 at 8:39 am

Oh, the ick factor.

I would like to know who authorized changing the content of the presidential bios. It says a lot about the current administration when they use past presidents to shill for the current administration. Nothing is respected.

Stefan May 17, 2012 at 8:45 am

Isn’t this the kind of stuff they used to do in the Soviet Union? Revise “official” history to reflect positively on people in power or negatively on people out of favor with the Party.
