Michelle Obama has embarked on a skiing vacation with her daughters in Aspen, Colorado, according to the Aspen Daily News.
The first lady, who just returned last month from 17 days of relaxation in Hawaii, is skiing in Colorado on Presidents’ Day Weekend for the second year in a row. Last year she went to Vail.
Michelle’s decision to ski out West again instead of hitting slopes closer to Washington would seem an inopportune choice for a first lady who is helping her husband campaign on issues of “fairness.”
The Obama campaign has set itself up as the defender of the poor and the middle class against the “One Percent,” a theme which clashes with the image a first lady who is taking frequent and exclusive vacations.
Just last August, she sojourned on Martha’s Vineyard, and the month before she travelled to southern Africa for a trip that mixed official business with tourist outings like an African safari. In July 2010, she took an exorbitant excursion to the southern coast of Spain, flying out with friends and family on a large jet that often serves as Air Force 2 and then staying at a ritzy hotel.
What’s more, as the government struggles to cut the deficit, the symbolism of a first lady jetting out to Aspen with a security entourage at taxpayers’ expense to ski would seem to send the wrong message about cutting back on spending.
For her last two Hawaii vacations, Michelle left separately from her husband at extra cost to taxpayers in order to ensure she got the full vacation while the president was forced to remain in Washington a few extra days to finish work with Congress.
President Obama last summer called for “an attitude of shared sacrifice” to solve the nation’s deficit woes.
Michelle this weekend is reportedly staying at the Aspen home of a wealthy Obama backer from Chicago. She held a fundraiser at the same residence last July.

Michelle Obama is an intelligent attractive woman. It is difficule for me to understand how she can engage in such activities when so many in the country are having such a difficult time. I cannot resort to name calling as it puts me at the same level as the many apologists that support this couple. All I know is that come November 2012 I hope and pray for change.

Look at her photos and you’ll see how heavily they are photoshopped – her butt and gut blow up and shrink from one photo to another. She has the biggest repertoire of clown faces that I’ve ever seen. It is impossible that the camera always catches her at an awkward moment in her conversations. She spends a lot of money on her clothing, but it is nearly always too tight and inappropriate for the occasion.

If it were just her money it would be one thing, but this is most likely costing the taxpayers and it shows the disconnect and hypocrisy that politicians are capable of every day.
The taxpayers pay for the initial analysis of the Queen’s destination for security, whatever needs to be done to make the place secure, the cost of running the airplane round-trip to transport the Queen and the Princesses Obama, the motorcades to take the Queen and Princesses to their place of fun and frolic, and all the extra staff and agents needed to service and protect the Queen.

What else is new, we the taxpayers have also supported her Mother the entire time as she also lives at the White House. They think they are above everyone else. Personally, I have no problem w/having a grandmother living in the White House, especially if there are children in residence. However, I do object to MO’s mother being brought onboard since she’s just there as a (mostly invisible) prop to make them appear decent – which they are not.

The wealthy Crown family includes billionaires Lester Crown and James Crown, who have ownership in many companies, including defense contractor General Dynamics Corporation, and who are substantial Obama campaign contributors. Speaking of that, we know the WH and BHO deliberately phrased the payroll tax debate last year as “$40 a paycheck”, meaning per biweekly paycheck even though many people are still paying weekly. They wanted people to be confused and think they’d be keeping $40 a WEEK, not every two weeks.
So, of course, BHO made that mistake himself while speaking in WA yesterday, but no one has pointed it out. In his remarks touting the passage of the extension of the payroll tax cut, BHO mistakenly (?) said people will get to keep “$40 a week”.
Those who actually have the authority to hold the White House accountable (Congress) don’t seem to be too interested in fulfilling their responsibilities on behalf of the nation. Keep in mind, this is a White House that scoffs at contempt of court citations, so I doubt they are too worried that we have noticed yet another incident of lying hypocrisy. The ignorant dependents that make up the Democrat voting base aren’t worried either. They’re true believers, and don’t read much.
