Obama To Aussie Students: Our Kids are Behind

by Keith Koffler on November 17, 2011, 9:28 am

There’s an unwritten rule in politics that politicians must not criticize the president when they are overseas. How about adding America’s school kids to the list of untouchables?

Speaking at a high school in Australia, President Obama told a group of Aussie students that their counterparts in his country had “fallen behind” when it comes to math and science, saying he wants to reform the public school system.

Obama also asserted that poor children don’t get “support they need when they’re very young’’ and are “already behind’’ when they enter grammar school, according to a press pool report.

Obama might have thought twice before casting America’s public school kids in a negative light to foreign students. Especially since he can exclude his own children from the system by paying for them to attend private school.

One might feel uncomfortable saying many types of unpleasant things about our country to people overseas. But then, one would have to be an American exceptionalist.

When HAS Obama said much of anything positive about this country?? I honestly can’t think of many.

nina November 17, 2011 at 9:51 am

You are absolutely correct, Lisa. This jerk hates America and all it stands for. All he cares about is the enormous number of vacations he and his family can take on our dollars.!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Ausi trip was $ 10 mil +, and there is no end in sight.

Lisa; It is not within him to even think about giving credit to the USA. Remember who influenced his supposed thinking, radical anti-american,touchy-feely, socialists!!!.Far from the tree? Nah….not this time nor ever. What a sorry excuse for decency we have as president. Is it 2012 yet? I sure hope there is real change comes November 2012.

ajk1941 November 17, 2011 at 10:17 am

Well, he did praise the Public Sector Unions. That’s got to be worth something…

gobnait November 17, 2011 at 10:19 am

Of course he hates America. He made that abundantly clear when he stated that he intended to fundamentally transform this country. What citizen wants to ‘fundamentally transform’ the country he claims to love?
If he felt the need to change the country in its most basic, defining form, what exactly did he ‘love’?

Greg November 17, 2011 at 11:08 am

Nor can I. But we do hear how “soft” and “lazy” we are.

Leadership is beyond the scope of his abilities.

Marjojimbo November 17, 2011 at 11:10 am

He can’t say anything positive about this country because he doesn’t believe in the American way of life. He’s been fundamentally changing it since he arrived in DC.

Kathleen Mary November 17, 2011 at 11:39 am

We are to blame for everything. The world is in this mess because of America’s decisions. We should not have saved Europe and fought Hitler (D Day is a blight on world history!) and opposed the USSR. We should not have opposed Japan when it was trying to take over the Far East. We should not oppose Islam, now, Islam is a wonderful, peaceful religion, only desiring harmony and full of Love for all mankind!

We are lazy. We need to take off our slippers and protest more and whatever he tells us to do. Get out and move.

We are Stupid –how dare we disagree with him, the savior of the world, don’t we know that the oceans has been going down and the earth is saved since his election?

We are ungrateful. We don’t thank him for the draconian takeover of our future in Obamacare. We think that maybe he should have been able to improve the economy some in 3 years of his administration.

We don’t know what is good for us. we are FAT. We MUST eat more veggies and fruit. (bad people, baddddd People!)

We need to be willing to make more sacrifices. (can’t keep our heat up at 72, any more, can’t drive the vehicle that we paid for with our own WORK!)

We are ignorant. never understand his brilliance and wit. We should be Impressed with his achievements. His administration is a success he would do NOTHING different.

We aren’t Europeans. We aren’t Chinese. We aren’t Australians, we aren’t South Americans, we aren’t Africans.
Yes, papa Obama. Bow, scrape, bow.

RobertMN November 17, 2011 at 12:20 pm

Everything you need to know about Obama’s angry, radical attitude actually came from his wife when she said during the 2008 campaign: “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.” Nothing — NOTHING — America ever did was any good until her husband came along. Who thinks like this, other than racists and bigots?

Patti November 17, 2011 at 12:26 pm

I can’t think of ANY!

chiefwillie November 17, 2011 at 12:26 pm

He has consistantly complimented the many excellent golf courses he has played on. The greens at the last course he played on were the best he had ever seen. The greens keeper’s crew of illegal aliens were the finest best that INS could find. Sure he Says nice things about the USA… just have to know where to look !!!!

Mike November 17, 2011 at 12:30 pm

The answer is obvious Lisa – the Occupy protestors!

JimmyT November 17, 2011 at 12:44 pm

Yeah, you’re right! Why can’t he realize that everything in the United States is PERFECT, because we are the greatest nation on earth and we are the greatest people in the world. We are God’s chosen! Americans are and will always be perfect! Nothing we do is ever wrong. All other people and all other countries are below us, and it’s time they realize this.

CCG November 17, 2011 at 12:47 pm

I can’t think of any. Why is he always spending his 4 four work day speaking at schools? We pay mega bucks for him to fly his enormous jet around the world. Shouldn’t he be spending time with world leaders? This guy is not only light in the loafers but a total loafer.

oakwood November 17, 2011 at 12:56 pm

How does Obama intend to reform the public school system, I wonder? I sort of thought it had already been reformed. I’m thinking of forced integration, magnet schools, no child left behind, and of course the affirmative action hiring of minority teachers. What havn’t they done? They even did mass cheating in Atlanta. I have no idea what reform Obama could be referring too. I suppose he could put things back the way they were before, say pre 1964. Students were less dumbed down back then.

Mike November 17, 2011 at 1:44 pm

That’s just an ignorant statement.

Matilda November 17, 2011 at 3:13 pm

NEVER. When did you ever hear a democrat say positive things about America? I am over 60 years old, and I can honestly say it has always been that way. When I hear how the socialists have infiltrated the democrat party I am reminded that some people don’t realize it has always been that way. They simply never had the power to execute that puppy until 2008. I have always known communism to be a threat, but never dreamed that the American people would vote for it like they did in 2008. And yes, they knew what they were voting for.

Hugh November 17, 2011 at 4:13 pm

Let me raise you 20 years. I am 80 and fought the communists in Korea in 1951-2 and in my wildest dreams never thought we would elect an American-Hating scum like this one.

Dave November 17, 2011 at 5:17 pm

Thanks for your service Hugh.

Patriotic kids today are going to have to decide if they are called to “fight for America” what they are really fighting for. Redistribution of wealth, equal rights for illegals or no border enforcement at all, special privileges for all sorts of sexual deviants. The list goes on and on. What has happened?

You know, you are right. I’ll be dog gone…you are right.

gbu23 November 17, 2011 at 3:43 pm

With the attitude of his wife, what would we expect, other than criticism. It is just the hypocrisy of someone who attended a private high school, Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law School who would suggest such things. The best education money (someone elses?) can buy.

Mark Twain November 18, 2011 at 7:04 am

Well from the lack of American Geography (Obama thinks we have 57 states, and his “birth” state is in Asia), economic skills, leadership skills, budgeting skills (this is math). I honestly don’t see were he has any talking room! I bet Occidental,Columbia,Harvard aren’t too proud of him. He’s got to be the WORST example for post education. If he wants to talk about LAZY he needs to get his dead ass off the golf corse (thats were rich lazy people hang out) and get to work and at least TRY to fix this mess! Mr President instead of complaining about the economy. Why don’t you actually do something besides RUN from itk?

PTParks November 17, 2011 at 4:11 pm

Well, he’s positively giddy over US labor unions, green jobs, and stimulus packages.

Dannyboy November 17, 2011 at 6:09 pm

Don’t sweat it, Lisa. In a year he won’t be in office anymore and this will just be yet another obnoxious thing Obama has said to add to the hefty volume of obnoxious things that Obama has said during his reign. Maybe somebody will one day put his quotes and deeds into a book entitled, “How NOT to Act Like a Good President: The Legacy of Barack Hussein Obama.” I’d read the crap out of that book. :)

Of course, we are going to be treated to the community agitator-in-chief’s endless guest appearances on every MSNBC talking head show until the end of time, once he’s out of office, so I suppose we will never truly be rid of his views and opinions. Can you imagine how he’s going to act once he’s been thrown out of office and the safety stops on his mouth are no longer working? Hijo de– I may have to stop watching TV altogether. No big loss, really.

Richard November 17, 2011 at 6:38 pm

I can’t think of any positive remarks. The man literally hates America and when Michelle said that his election was the first time that she had been proud of America spoke more truth about her and Obama than we could have ever believed.

chris November 18, 2011 at 2:31 am

The overwhelming majority of these comments are proof of how sad our educational system is and how ignorant we are in our ‘exceptional country’. Thanks to Pres Obama for simply trying to tell us how it is, for addressing reality and not fantasy. Our country is in for decades of pain and all I see in these comments is half-witted, angry, nasty, and self-serving people. May our country be able to save itself from our ignorance, our sense of entitlement, and our selfishness let alone our debt, our fatal health care system, our failed educational system, our wars, etc…

pocketpal November 18, 2011 at 1:57 pm

It’s people like you that can not/will not see the good in man/woman in this country. We need a “LEADER” in this country that tells us about how good we are. Positive strokes get positive results. There is a time, coming shortly when real Americans will be coming for Liberals like you and it won;t be nice. This country is fed up with being looked down on by a few miserable low life scums (you) .We’ve had enough. And YOU have good reason to be scared , look over you shoulder often.

In order to really properly digest this man’s mental illness and the depths of his narcissism, imagine Sarkosy coming to America and making a speech in which he tells us that Frenchmen are lazy, that their kids are undereducated, and that they are unmotivated.

What would we think of that president?

Moe November 17, 2011 at 2:50 pm

Great point, add the video of the madness going on in major cities all over the US today, so good for our image all over the world.

just-Ed November 17, 2011 at 9:54 am

So was Obama lying, or does the truth hurt?

Ron Zaks November 17, 2011 at 10:06 am

The truth does not hurt; but you do not say it in front of a foreign audience. Also the teachers of this country are one of his biggest backers. That says quite a bit about the competence of the nation’s public education establishment. But the teachers are probably too dumb to know that they have also been maligned.

gobnait November 17, 2011 at 10:25 am

Gee Just, let’s see. Here in the great state of NJ, millions upon millions of dollars are thrown at the schools, particularly those in the poorest parts of the state known as Abbott Districts. It’s most definitely NOT about a lack or money or services. It’s about taking back our schools (and our children) from the clutches of progressive so-called experts who have transformed our schools into unrecognizable bastions of liberal thought that prepares no one for the real world. Eliminate the gross waste of money spent on the likes of theater, dance and other non-critical studies and return post-haste to the basics.

Jim November 17, 2011 at 1:02 pm

Good point. The truth that our people were stupid enough to elect Obama is hurting us a great deal and is an indicator that his comments weren’t too far off.

darrell7887 November 17, 2011 at 9:55 am

Odumbo is behind everyone. To have such a high IQ he has no common sense ie. Navy Corpseman, 57 states. This is due to affirmative action. Odumbo is hiding his grades for a reason, it ‘s not due to unusually high grades either. Perhaps he should hold himself up as an example of the failures of our education system and the fact the unions have killed the productivity in our schools.

George November 17, 2011 at 10:00 am

True. We always hear how “intelligent” he is, but he certainly hasn’t done anything to reinforce that belief. Bullsh*ting morons into voting him into office doesn’t take a lot of smarts, just a lot of gullibility from witless followers.

langley barfly November 17, 2011 at 10:09 am

“no common sense” = Barack Hussein Obama did ‘attend’ (so they say?) Columbia and Harvard Law… in those arrogant, over-priced, liberal-lefty Ivy League schools they dont teach much “common sense”…

Charles November 17, 2011 at 10:12 am

I keep hearing how high his IQ is, but he is yet to show any signs of it. I suspect it is average at best!

bettyann November 17, 2011 at 11:57 am

I’d like to see grades to prove he’s even moderatly intelligent. He’s a poor athlete, a slow thinker, unreasonable, obstinate, arrogant, bigoted, elitist, and mannerless. Isn’t that how you describe an ignoramous?

Shawn Collins November 17, 2011 at 9:56 am

> Obama also asserted that poor children don’t get “support they need when they’re very young’’ and are “already behind’’’ when they enter grammar school

This is the issue that needs to be addressed, and money doesn’t fix it.

Anonna November 17, 2011 at 11:00 am

Right, Shawn. My aunt taught kids who came into her school not knowing how to hold a crayon. These kids are in the eyes of their families nothing but check-producing spawn and if the kid is educationally challenged by fetal alcohol syndrome or ADHD it’s all the better because the check is bigger.

We need to stop subsidizing the birth of babies to those who cannot parent. Yeah, there are great parents who raise kids on welfare, I don’t doubt that, but the policy of spewing more monthly checks just because someone has had a baby has got to stop.

And, yes, I do think these children would be better off in an orphanage than with their parents.

Robin H November 17, 2011 at 4:50 pm

We spend billions each year on the Head Start program. How much more do we have to do? And if it’s not working why are we still spending it? The old adage that you can lead a horse to water applies. You can give the kids the best facilities and teachers, but if they don’t want to learn there’s not a darn thing you can do about it. And if the parents are not going to support learning then how do you help the kids?

Jamie November 17, 2011 at 9:57 am

God forbid Obama should touch our school system.

George November 17, 2011 at 9:57 am

Chris November 17, 2011 at 9:58 am

The president enjoys getting more funding for the unions that support him – what better way then by saying the only way we can get our students who have fallen “already behind” is to shower more money from the public fisk on teacher unions? There are no other solutions coming from liberals like the President.

Breaking down NAEP scores by race shows that American school kids actually hold their own pretty well when compared to others who are similar ethnically. Of course, the fair and the good will never allow research like this to reach the mainstream. They will continue to deny group characteristics between races, importing more Mexicans and wonder why the average scores continue to drop while doing their best to change the electorate. Liberals like the President are shameless.

What country is Obama the leader of? He has zero confidence in this great country, He has nothing positive to say ever about the resolve of U.S. citizens. Now he trashes the students of this nation, while he ignores the failure of the Education system itself. Let us not forget, Obama and his elite friends are also part of the 1%.

Anti-socialist November 17, 2011 at 10:03 am

Reform public education? That is always the politicians’ solution. Throw more money at it. How about abolish it and privatize it? Public education is a rat hole down which you will never be able to pour enough money to make it effective or efficient, especially as long as there is a teachers’ union. If we get rid of the unfair competition from the government’s monopoly on education, then privatized education, through competition, would become affordable and infinitely better than government education. New and better ways to educate would be developed. Privatizing education would also put the responsibility for educating children where it belongs – on the parents, not on society. That’s how you get parents involved in their children’s education. Just think, the public would not be saddled with huge bonds for schools. No more buses. The counties would have all that money for essential services. Yes, it’s time to admit that the socialist model does not work and get rid of it.

“Free education for all children in government schools.” – Tenth Plank of the Communist Manifesto

“Wherever is found what is called a paternal government, there is found state education. It has been discovered that the best way to insure implicit obedience is to commence tyranny in the nursery.” — Benjamin Disraeli, Speech in the House of Commons [June 15, 1874]

“A general State education is a mere contrivance for moulding people to be exactly like one another: and as the mould in which it casts them is that which pleases the predominant power in the government, whether this be a monarch, a priesthood, an aristocracy, or the majority of the existing generation, in proportion as it is efficient and successful, it establishes a despotism over the mind, leading by natural tendency to one over the body.”
— John Stuart Mill, On Liberty [1859]

“The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever the pretensions of politicians, pedagogues, and other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else…Their purpose, in brief, is to make docile and patriotic citizens, to pile up majorities, and to make John Doe and Richard Doe as nearly alike, in their everyday reactions and ways of thinking, as possible.” — H. L. Mencken

Since when is the job of the President to “reform the public school system”? Isn’t that the jurisdiction of the states and local school boards not the federal government?

Gene November 17, 2011 at 10:06 am

Wow! What a suprise, our President bad mouthing this country. Funny, he bad mouths public schools and the teachers unions think he walks on water. He never badmouths HIS country..Kenya

JWS November 17, 2011 at 10:06 am

Why is he campaigning to Australian school children?

Susan November 17, 2011 at 10:08 am

Please fellow Americans, let’s stop fighting amongst each other and get rid of this blight on American exceptionalism in the next election.

This disgusting man propagates the image of Americans who are so lazy and stupid they don’t raise their children to become productive members of society. That may be true in the ghettos the Democrats have created, but the majority of Americans take pride in this country and how valuable an education is to our children.

Charles November 17, 2011 at 10:08 am

I can’t think of any time he has said anything positive about this country. Great to have a Pres who hates us so much.

Susan November 17, 2011 at 10:09 am

How is it disrespect when he is speaking the TRUTH???

Charles November 17, 2011 at 10:14 am

When he is saying in other countries and putting this one down.

Wake up and grow up!

Chris November 17, 2011 at 10:09 am

Apparently not much. Obama can’t wait to say something negative about America as soon as he leaves American soil.

just me November 17, 2011 at 10:09 am

Really? Isn’t he the one who said we have “57″ states and that Hawaii is in Asia? And by the way, why have we never seen his school transcripts? Note to the ‘brilliant’ one . . . if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything!

Laureen November 17, 2011 at 10:10 am

It would be better for the President to focus on the positive instead of the negative. Both my children went to public schools. Now one getting a PhD in immunology and the other in medical school. It is possible to achieve with hard

Michelle November 17, 2011 at 10:10 am

“Obama also asserted that poor children don’t get “support they need when they’re very young’’ and are “already behind’’’ when they enter grammar school, according to a press pool report.”

Sounds like a new initiative is coming to “rescue” all those toddlers from their parents so they can get all of the support they “need.”

Burl November 17, 2011 at 10:11 am

I would have been happier if he said he was planning to scrap the Federal Department of Education since it cannot get the job done.

Dennis November 17, 2011 at 10:11 am

They have no support because of the family in America being broken.

Frank November 17, 2011 at 10:12 am

Release your grades dirtbag. Then we’ll all see what a Big Dummy the American people were scammed into putting in office.I doubt you could pass a driving test…but straight A’s in community organizing…Obamaville in full swing here in NYC…did everyone see all the hyberdermic needles found when sanitation cleaned the park..need I say more

Judgementday November 17, 2011 at 10:13 am

Since the 60′s, America’s public schools have become a haven for Marxism.

Doug Sears November 17, 2011 at 10:34 am

I graduated in 1961 from highschool. I think things were very progressive then.I remember my 8th grade social studies teacher giving me a failing grade because of me writing an essay that communism only worked in subsistence societies. After everyone had means Capitalism was the logical next step.
