Lady Gaga Attends Obama Fundraiser

by Keith Koffler on September 26, 2011, 6:13 am

And I thought she was a Republican . . .

Lady Gaga reportedly attended Obama’s fourth fundraiser of the day Sunday, an affair at the home of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. The event set her back $35,800 unless she came with someone, since that was the ticket price for singles or couples.

I wonder if Gaga, who is an activist for gay causes, asked Obama about his opposition to gay marriage, or at least showed him some new polling demonstrating that it was okay now to change his position.

Apparently she made quite an entrance. From the pool report:

At 8:03 pm Lady Gaga entered… delicately walking on sky-high heels (she towered over everyone, a good 2 feet taller than POTUS). She was wearing a floor-length sleeveless lacey black dress, her blonde hair was gathered in a bouffant up-do adorned with a black hair piece with a black veil down the back, which she swept to the side and in front of her left shoulder. (The hair added about 6 inches to her stature). She took a seat at the middle table in the tent and stood up with the other guests when POTUS entered a few minutes later.

POTUS spoke for about 8 minutes, with Lady Gaga sitting front and center. And although he never acknowledged her obvious presence, it seems likely the two crossed paths during greetings inside the house before the dinner.

Event was print pool only so no press photos. POTUS was introduced by Sheryl Sandberg.

According to ABC News, Gaga spoke up about bullying during the Q & A, which must have occurred after the pool was led out.

According to a source present in the tent fundraiser, Gaga asked a question during the Q&A. She first thanked the president for what he’s accomplished, then read from what she said was a letter from a fan about the suicide of another fan who had been subjected to bullying.

She thanked Obama for hosting his anti-bullying conference with Michelle Obama, and then made a general plea to everyone in the room, including the president, to do what they can to prevent bullying.

Obama thanked her, spoke about his administration’s anti-bullying campaign, and then more generally about the importance of values and who we are as Americans.

Before the dinner, Gaga came through the photo line with her manager. She and Obama reportedly spoke for two minutes, with many others in the room.

Obama is very much down with the Facebook crowd, attending an intimate dinner with Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg and a few well-heeled West Coast fans in February and appearing with Zuckerberg at a Facebook town hall in April.

On Saturday, MrO tells the Black community to suck it up and quit their bitchin’, then heads out to the land of fruits and nuts to stuff his campaign goody bag and promise the (presumably White) donors that he’s going to look out for them.

I must be an old stodgy…just don’t get this Lady Gaga fascination. Guess all generations have their infatuation with oddballs. Still remember tiptoeing through the tulips with Tiny Tim.

That’s where the money is…on the east and left coast. Not so much in flyover country. He has made it quite clear that he is not the president of all America, just those who support his power grab — the reparations class and the highest bidders in big business. Sellouts, one and all, to the American Idea. Knew this guy was dangerous from the get go, just didn’t realize how dangerous he is.

While not a psychologist or therapist, I am a firm believer that, in an unguarded moment, a person will allow a slip of the lip (Freudian slip as is were) and reveal a bit of their true thinking and philosophy.

On Saturday, while speaking at the Congressional Black Caucus awards meeting President Obama stated, “If asking a billionaire to pay the same tax rate as a Jew — as a janitor — makes me a warrior for the working class, I wear that as a badge of honor.” (http://dailycaller.com/2011/09/25/obama-gaffe-president-says-billionaires-should-pay-the-jew-tax-rate/#ixzz1Z4CGp9zR).

I don’t know about anyone else, but for someone who’s speeches are read from a teleprompter, it seems a bit strange to me that he would have made such a gaffe. Unless he was thinking of Dhimmi, the Islamic law requiring Jews to pay a special tax just to be allowed to continue living in a Muslim country.

This man is getting stranger and stranger by the day. And how ironic it is that a day after he make the “Jew” tax comment he is hosted by one of Zuckerberg’s people.

I’ve long been a people watcher (listener). My husband often marvels that I can ‘read’ people so accurately. The only thing I do is listen and pay attention to what they say/do. People reveal exactly what they think and believe.

Shofar, thanks for the link. Shall I pass this along to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz? Love to see how she would spin this.
