Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell’s issued a proposal that would end the search for a deficit reduction deal but place the entire burden for raising the $14.3 trillion debt limit on President Obama.

Most conservatives rejected the McConnell plan, but the business community got behind a debt ceiling increase.

House Speaker John Boehner said “I don’t know” when asked what would happen if a debt deal is not reached.

Believing that the Operation Fast and Furious scandal reaches into the highest levels of the Justice Department, congressional Republicans are demanding the attorney general’s office turn over a sweeping trove of emails, documents and other material.

Obama and the DNC raised $86 million for his reelection campaign.

With the GOP establishment uncommitted, Texas governor Rick Perry may have a “huge opening” as he weighs a possible 2012 presidential bid.

Obama’s star is dimming in the Arab world, as negative attitudes toward American policy predominate in many Arab countries.

Obama awarded U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Arthur Petry of Santa Fe, N.M. the Medal of Honor for his valor in Afghanistan.

And former First Lady Betty Ford was laid to rest, with George W. Bush, Michelle Obama, and three other former first ladies attending.
