Obama to Meet with McConnell on Deficit

It appears the White House is bowing – to some degree – to Republican demands that President Obama insert himself into the budget talks. But it looks like they’ve decided to circumvent Rep. Eric Cantor, the lead House GOP negotiator, who yesterday walked out.

A statement by the press secretary released just a little while ago:

On Monday, the President and Vice President will hold meetings at the White House with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to discuss the status of the negotiations to find common ground on a balanced approach to deficit reduction.  The meeting with the Majority Leader will take place in the morning and the meeting with the Minority Leader will take place in the early evening.

  1. Does he even know how Congress functions? The House controls the purse strings. He is spinning his wheels if he believes he is going to get anywhere by excluding the House from negotiations.

    • Does he know how congress functions? For real? He is a community organizer for goodness sakes. This is a photo op and an attempt to show he is engaged.

      • No wonder these creatures are so chummy with hollywood…
Obambo is giving an award winning performance playing the part of
POTUS.. something he knows nothing about

  2. If we are counting on McConnel to lead this for the GOP then we might be in trouble. I’m just not sure where he comes from sometimes. Lets hope that McConnel feels the pressure and hold firm.
