News Flash: Osama Bin Laden may not be dead. How do I know? It seems he has joined President Obama on the campaign trail.
That’s right, Obama has scooped up the vanquished evildoer and brought him out onto the hustings, bragging tonight during a campaign appearance at a fundraiser in Austin about his success
Early in Obama’s appearance, someone shouted out, “Thank you for getting Bin Laden!’’
Obama said that was a “case in point’’ – a reason for voters to let him “finish what we started.’’
Later, Obama ticked off what he described as his administration’s accomplishments: lifting the ban on gays in the military; bringing troops home from Iraq.
And then: “And because of the extraordinary bravery of the men and women who wear this nation’s uniform and the outstanding work of our intelligence agencies,’’ Obama said, “Osama bin Laden will never again threaten the United States.’’
The crowd roared.
Nice how Obama tries to pretend he’s crediting the military instead of himself. THIS IS A CAMPAIGN EVENT. Are the “men and women who wear this nation’s uniform” running for president with you? We’re really not fooled, sir.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney assured us last week that this was not to be:
I think that what happened on Sunday — and this is very important because it would be a shame if this became a piece in a partisan narrative, because what I think the President feels very strongly about is that the accomplishment on Sunday was an American accomplishment, and it was not a Republican or a Democratic accomplishment.
Yes, it would be a shame, and it is. It seemed to many of us that Obama was taking just a little too much credit in the aftermath of Bin Laden killing. Now we know he was only getting started.
H/T to Drudge Report where I first saw the LA Times story.
