As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Obama Schedule || Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Gosh, I do hope nothing bad happens in the world Wednesday morning, because your president will be a little groggy. He gets home at 1:15 am Wednesday morning after parachuting into the Lone Star State’s liberal bastion of Austin to raise money at two separate events Tuesday night.

He’ll first go to El Paso to talk immigration reform. I had been wondering why he was traveling to Texas for the immigration event. He can’t win Texas in 2012 and there are two other border states that will be close contests. But now I understand. He needed to empty some pockets in Austin, and it wouldn’t look too great if he was just headed to Texas for the money.

Just speculating, of course. Here’s the sched:

10:30 am || Departs the White House
12:40 pm MDT || Arrives El Paso, Texas
1:30 pm MDT || Delivers speech on immigration reform
2:40 pm MDT || Departs El Paso, Texas
5:00 pm CDT || Arrives Austin, Texas
5:50 pm CDT || Delivers remarks at DNC fundraiser; Moody Theater
7:25 pm CDT || Delivers remarks at DNC fundraiser #2; private residence
9:15 pm CDT || Departs Austin
1:15 am || Arrives White House

All times Eastern except as noted

  1. We must be entering the smash-mouth era of politics now. After refusing to declare Texas a disaster area as requested by GovPerry, MrO is going to slap them with a pro-amnesty speech in ElPaso. Then,he’s going to shake down some Texas fat-cats for some real money.
    Messin’ with Texas isn’t a good idea.

    Arizona is raising private funds to build a better fence along the AZ-Mex border because the Feds won’t. Texas is looking at ways to better secure their border, too. California is drowning in debt caused by bad policies and the drain on their social services by illegal aliens. Our prisons are full of illegal alien criminals. Amnesty is not the answer but will add to the problems we face today.

  2. Or maybe it’s because El Paso deals with border issues as well? And presidents don’t just make appearances for themselves. There are plenty of Texas democrats who can benefit from the visit.
