What? No Easter Greeting?

by Keith Koffler on April 25, 2011, 11:11 am

Updated 8:00 pm ET

Just when I thought the current team running the White House might have used up all its allotted mistakes comes word that President Obama failed to issue either an Easter or a Good Friday greeting to the nation.

Now, let’s forget for a moment that these greetings, which presidents issue on many holidays and commemorations of events, are largely perfunctory and symbolic gestures that nobody cares about.

Until there’s a problem with them.

Fox News first caught the blunder and put it into context that makes the omission insulting to Christians. The mistake is odd enough to call into question just what Obama’s priorities are.

By comparison, the White House has released statements recognizing the observance of major Muslim holidays and released statements in 2010 on Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha.

The White House  . . . did release an eight-paragraph statement heralding Earth Day. Likewise, the president’s weekend address mentioned neither Good Friday or Easter.*

Obama, Fox notes, did head out to church yesterday and held an Easter prayer breakfast at the White House last week.

Obama is on a roll for religious holiday greeting screw ups. Fox News writes:

In 2010, Obama was criticized for releasing an all-inclusive Easter greeting. He reached out to Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and people of no faith at all in a statement about a holiday that is uniquely Christian.

And as I noted last week, the president released a Passover greeting this month that compared the ancient Jewish exodus from Egypt to the Arab political awakening this year, which would be a beautiful thing if most Arabs didn’t seek Israel’s destruction.

The president is, of course, hosting the Easter Egg Roll at the White House today. But Easter isn’t really about rolling eggs on a manicured lawn, now is it?

UPDATE: Asked during this afternoon’s briefing about the issue, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney suggested Obama’s “high profile” visit to a church Sunday should suffice.

“I’m not sure if we put out a statement or not, but he obviously personally celebrated Easter with his family,” Carney said, adding “the president took his family out to church in a very high-profile way.”

Carney added that Obama is a “devoted Christian.”

* Fox News is incorrect. Obama does mention Easter in his weekend address, though he does so only briefly and not as a message or greeting to Christians celebrating the holiday.

Is it still Easter? These holidays are getting as strung out as Burning Man or something.

Petle April 25, 2011 at 11:43 am

Steve Schaper April 25, 2011 at 12:20 pm

It is Eastertide.

Star April 25, 2011 at 2:08 pm

Ah–Easter TIDE. Right on.

Zwolf April 25, 2011 at 1:02 pm

Uh ya star man it was like just yesterday dude. Like soooo strung out man.

FYI Jesus was an old-head hippy man so like how about a little love for the J-bear braw.

ruff1951 April 25, 2011 at 8:55 pm

I didn’t know there was someone alive today that was around when Jesus was here on earth. What other spaced out info can you tell us about Jesus Zwolf? Maybe you and Jesus smoked pot together too! We all know Obama is a fake. Can’t wait till the wind is taken out of his sails.

Truth April 25, 2011 at 1:06 pm

Socialism/Communism/Muslim-Sharia will soon triumph over all else…as you all sleep and dream of “Change”…!

Fern April 25, 2011 at 5:16 pm

That’s a joke right? Someone pretending to be a conservative caricature on a comment? Or is their actual seriousness behind the idea that contradictory forms of government will all exist at the same time because a particular person happens to hold temporary power over only one branch, with limited power, of the government?

It’s hard to tell whether people are joking, or just not very smart or thoughtful.

MommyP April 25, 2011 at 8:31 pm

It seems you might be the one caught with your pants down when the truth comes up bites you in the A$$.

Pimpernel April 26, 2011 at 5:50 am

“temporary power over only one branch, with limited power, of the government?”

Yes, with signing statements, executive orders, drone assassinations and illegal executive invasions — JUST LIKE BUSH.

BigRk April 26, 2011 at 8:05 am

It’s not hard to tell, it’s sarcasm. Your just a lib and quite frankly not very smart, but you think you are smarter than everybody. That’s the real joke Fern.

JustinTimberwolf May 2, 2011 at 3:02 am

He’d appear to be smarter than you, since you can’t spell “you’re.”

Truth April 25, 2011 at 6:21 pm

Ya not tell them all how you are gong to kill all who wont convert to Muslim.

AB April 26, 2011 at 12:23 am

convert them to muslim? really? are you really that misinformed or just totally stupid? see people like you are the part of the problem in this country, not the solution. Obviously what you mean to say is “convert to Islam” but be that as it may, I am glad to see that your opinion that ALL Muslims will kill those who will not convert is as well formed as your vocabulary. Do us all a favor and crawl back from whatever rock you sprang from and let the adults have a meaningful conversation here.

jacques toupe April 25, 2011 at 1:32 pm

@ Star, 25 april 2011, 1127 am
yes, it is easter week. it is your business if you choose not to have faith or to be religious, but keep your snide, belligerent comments to yourself. don’t forget to grease your stripper pole or you’ll burn your thighs.

Jeff April 25, 2011 at 3:37 pm

Easter lasts for 50 days, from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday (June 12 this year).

Obama went to church for Easter. That puts him ahead of many of his detractors.

Christ is risen.

jayhawker888 April 25, 2011 at 5:42 pm

Pentecost is June 8th. It is 50 days from Passover, not Easter.

CKAinRedStateUSA April 25, 2011 at 5:55 pm

Indeed, Christ is risen!

As for Obama going to church on Easter Sunday, that means he’s fulfilled half of the requirements to be a two-a-year Christian, those who attend church on Resurrection Day and at Christmas.

Also, as for Obama going to church this past Sunday, I wonder: Does he have a clue? Is this just another pew-warming experience?

Whatever, I pray that Obama finds the Risen Christ and turns his life over to Jesus.

CanofSand April 25, 2011 at 7:08 pm

Implying Obama is a Christian in the real sense, not the at-best politically-motivated self-labeling sense (if not in the Black Liberation Theology sense — that being a racist, inherently Marxist “religion” (look it up)) is to be a liar or to be ignorant (perhaps willfully so) of the facts.

Tim April 26, 2011 at 7:40 am

He is risen indeed!

jackie April 25, 2011 at 3:49 pm

So I take it you are not a Christian or are an atheist?

No surprise April 25, 2011 at 11:44 am

No surprise here. He’s not a Christian, he’s a Muslim infiltrator.

skeptic17 April 25, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Are we actually surprised at this? Time and again the prez has shown us he is not a Christian and here we stand reading articles saying that he has remained silent on yet the highest of Holy Christian Days. He isn’t stupid, we are for having this P O S as our prez when we know he isn’t what he claims to be. I hope all you libs wake up in 2012 and pull the fairy dust out of your ears. Put someone in charge of this country that has an agenda of actually helping this country to remain great, not someone who has at every twist and turn tried to tear it down and pit citizen against citizen.

Darrel April 25, 2011 at 11:45 am

Muslim in Chief. Where is the long form birth certificate that shows religion and father?

Nathan April 25, 2011 at 4:20 pm

So, do you geniuses who keep making these insightful and well-informed comments about Obama being a Kenyan/Muslim/Socialist/Nazi/Nose-Picker/Homeless/Martian hate all religions that aren’t your own such that merely naming them can be considered a slur? Or do you just hate Muslims?

Did you know that Islam traces its lineage back to Abraham? You know, like Judaism and Christianity?

Did you know that Jesus is considered a prophet in Islam and appears in the Koran 25 times? And that Allah is the same God worshiped by Jews and Christians?

Rimbaud April 25, 2011 at 4:38 pm

why don’t you do some homework ?
Allah is NOT the God worshipped by Jews and Christians.

Ibrahim April 25, 2011 at 4:50 pm

Wow, did you read all of that off the cover of a paperback or did you google it?

Islam may claim roots in Judaism and Christianity but explicitly instructs its followers to destroy those religions and those that follow them.

Whether Allah is the same God worshiped by Jews and Christians is up to the Jews and Christians. I don’t see Lebanese, Armenian, or Coptic Christians standing in line to worship at the mosque: they aren’t even allowed in. Neither are they allowed to build or repair churches in their countries under sharia (muslim) law.

And how many Jews do you see in muslim lands? They haven’t exactly thrived in those conditions. The Quran could easily be the most anti-semitic book ever written for all of its exhortation to rid the land of the Jew.

Mohammed never intended to build a religion of peace. He designed and led an institution for the sole purpose of enslaving his enemies and creating an empire.

Sojourner April 26, 2011 at 7:31 am

Thank you. I wish more people would wake up and see the truth of Islam. It’s not a religion, peaceful or otherwise, it’s a theocracy. A law unto itself. It does not belong here in the States and can not co-exist with our culture. By the way, how many of you realize there’s no real thing such as racism? Only about .0001 percent of our DNA gives us our hair color, eye color, and skin color. The rest is the same in all of us. One race–human. Many cultures. So does that make me a culturist?

Honest John April 25, 2011 at 4:52 pm

You have to be a devout leftist liberal to try to stretch the blanket over Islam as “yet another peaceful religion” – watch the news??? Frankly it’s more a political movement that overtly employs deception to subjugate it’s “infidels” – like espousing the red herring “hey we believe in Jesus too!”. Personally, I am an agnostic BUT any fool can / should see that Islam is a very SERIOUS threat to civilization. Just open your eyes… Sure, their are “bad guys” in ALL religions, BUT I know of no other religion that preaches violent / deceitful subjugation as does Islam.

theo April 25, 2011 at 5:01 pm

Islam only goes back to Mohammed. To claim it goes back to Abraham is an absurdity. Sure, the Koran mentions Jesus, but does not accept what the Bible states, that Jesus is the Son of God, indeed God himself. Allah is not God, but a “moon god.” That’s why his icon is a crescent moon. We don’t hate Muslims, but boy do they hate everybody else who is not muslim.

Dan S. April 25, 2011 at 11:37 pm

The word “Allah” is a form of the same Semitic root-word as the Hebrew “El” (as in Elohim or Eloheinu), and simply means “god” – remember that Hebrew and Arabic are related Semitic languages. So “Allah” was never the proper name of a moon god. It may be true that a moon god or goddess played a prominent role in the religion of pre-Islamic Arabs, and that some rituals or observances connected with it were then transferred to Allah, but that doesn’t mean that Allah was the name of that god(dess). Certainly, Mohammed thought of Allah as being the same entity that spoke to Abraham and Moses. You can reject the claim that the religion of those men – if indeed they existed and can be said to have shared a religion – was in any way “Islam”. I would reject that claim too. But Allah (who is surely considered male) is not the ancient Arabic moon deity (who is thought to have been female).

american-american April 26, 2011 at 8:26 am

Not entirely correct. Mohammed was the bastard son of Abraham, mothered by a servent who acted as a serogate mother. It was believed that Abraham’s wife could not bear children. She later did bear children. Therefore she ordered the servant and Mohammed be cast out and never to be recognized as a child of Abraham. As such, Mohammed swore to be an eternal enemy of Abraham and therefore Christians.

TruthTeller April 25, 2011 at 5:06 pm

Actually, genius, Islam dates back to Mohammed and the 7th century. Mohammed decided that the Torah had become corrupted, so he wrote new scripture. Many Arabs trace their history back to Abram, but Islam did not exist until Mohammed dictated the Qu’ran, which was in the 600′s. And, while Islam achknowledges some of the “previous scriptures” that are commonly known as the Old Testament of the Bible, they reject most of them, as the Qu’ran contradicts them. You can’t have it both ways. Nice try, and thanks for playing.

By the way… Mohammed said that he was in Medinah, when he went up to heaven on a horse. Later, the Muslims changed the story to say that he went up from Jerusalem instead – thus giving them religious claim to the city. If you don’t like the history… invent a new one.

George April 25, 2011 at 5:08 pm

Nathan–While it is true that Islam traces back to Abraham, that is where the similarity ends. The Qur’an asks believers to “strike the neck” of infidels who do not convert to Islam–no choice here. Mohammad and his followers certainly “struck the necks” of thousands of Jews, Christians, and other non-believers (beheading) through his career of mayhem. Christians and Jews spread their evangelism through love and example, providing a choice for the unbeliever. The Qur’an also instructs believers to use deceit or lie to achieve their gains. This obviously contrasts with Christian and Jewish beliefs and practices. Islam also teaches that Jesus will return to assist the Mahdi in “converting” infidels through deceit and violence. Apostle John’s Revelations specifically warn of this “false Messiah” at the end of times. Is it the Mahdi or anti-Christ that you are expecting to establish the worldwide Caliphate? Some believe they are the same person.

Doug April 25, 2011 at 5:12 pm

I’m not a genius, but I do know that “Islam traces its lineage back to Abraham” because several centuries after the death, burial and resurrection of Christ Jesus, a man named Mohammed mashed together bits and pieces of different religions, including Judaism and Christianity, in order to form his own religion.

Why do only liberals believe that Allah is the same god as Jehovah? Muslims do not believe this, and often call Christians polytheists because we pray to the blessed trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

As for me, I do not hate Muslims, nor do I know any other Christians who do. Jesus called upon us to love one another, and it is through the love of Christ Jesus that the world will be saved — not through the hate of other religions (like Islam and liberalism).

Cate007 April 25, 2011 at 5:15 pm

Nathan -
Yes, I knew before your post that Jesus is considered a prophet by Muslims and that Allah and Jehovah and YHWH are the same god. But apparently most contemporary muslims don’t. How else do you explain their hatred of Israel and Christianity? If we worship the same god, why do muslims label Christians as infidels?
BTW, crude insults show the user to be unimaginative. If you cannot rise to the level of a Daniel Webster, polite discourse is more likely to convince the reader of your ability to think.

Mark April 25, 2011 at 5:25 pm

Allah IS NOT the God of Christianity. The Christian God is a Triune God – God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. Three personas present in one God. The Muslim god, Allah, is not the same, as their god does not recognise the diety of Jesus. As you said they consider Jesus to be just a prophet. Jesus was not only a prophet, He is God incarnate!! He is Risen!!

Caleb April 25, 2011 at 5:26 pm

He didn’t say nor imply that he hates Muslims. It’s Islam he dislikes. (You know, hate the game not the player?)

Also, Islam traces back to around 610 A.D. Abraham lived over 2000 years B.C. Ishmael, the child Abraham had because of his wife’s lack of faith, was banished from Abraham after Isaac, the child God promised to him, was born. Ishmael’s descendants eventually developed Islam, but just because they descend from Abraham does not mean they follow the Truth as Abraham does.

To continue, saying that Jesus is viewed as a prophet in the Qu’ran does not help your case. Jesus was not a prophet; He was God. He was fully God and fully man. He willingly stepped down from paradise to humbly and perfectly be born, live, and be brutally executed to cover the cost for the sin we committed/commit/will commit whether we care or not. And Allah is not the same God worshiped by Jews and Christians; Although he may be presented as being the same God, he cannot be. If he were, Islam would be Christianity, and Christianity would be Islam.

Praise be to God Almighty this Easter, who was, and is, and is to come.

Steve Brown April 25, 2011 at 5:29 pm

Nice try Nathan, but that only works if the Muslim world embraces this commonality as you do… unfortunately if you are a Christian in a Muslim majority country you may 1) fear for your life, 2) endure persecution, beatings or worse, or 3) worship in secret, considering that a Muslim who converts to Christianity is considered a heretic punishable by death. I find it odd that President Obama feels compelled to publically celebrate Muslim holy days with a congratulatory acknowledgement, but can’t find the time to acknowledge publically a significant holy day for Christians in his own country that is predominantly Christian. The unevenness of his approach fairly prompts these questions. Funny that you can’t see this.

david April 25, 2011 at 5:33 pm

no allah is not the same god that christians and jews worshiped

Sgrady April 25, 2011 at 5:39 pm

Abraham and his handmaiden had a son out of the will of God, who told him to send Ishmael away when the son HE promised them, Issac was born. Just so you know, Allah is NOT..absolutely NOT the same God that Christians or Jews worship. You do not know of what you speak. As a Christian I can clearly say we do not believe in Allah who says love him and he may love you back…I believe in the God who says I love you even though you hate me.

Shark April 25, 2011 at 5:40 pm

I just dislike those who’s religion tells them to kill all of those that are not of that religion.

Rosemary April 25, 2011 at 5:43 pm

uh ummm yeah, riiiight sure

mark April 25, 2011 at 5:44 pm

You are dead wrong. Allah is NOT the “same god” worshipped by Jews and Christians. In the New and old testaments of the Bible of the Jews and Christians, God states his name is Yahweh, which (anglicized) in English letters is spelled Jehovah. He clearly states Jesus is his ONLY begotten Son, and The Koran of Islam says their god,Allah, has NO son.Why would God change his name 600 years later for Mohammed? Why would He change His story from “ONLY begotten Son,in whom I am very proud”,to “Jesus…he’s just another prophet”??There is only ONE truth. Learn it quickly, before it is too late.

Phil April 25, 2011 at 5:45 pm

Christians and Muslims worship different gods. That we worship the same god is a falsehood that Muslims like to posit to make it more acceptable for the uneducated. The God of the Bible had a Son called Jesus who was crucified for our sins that we may have eternal life if we believe in Him. There is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus. In John 14:6 – Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Mark Rice April 25, 2011 at 5:47 pm

So, do you, “Nathan”, make these inaccurate and misinformed statements about the true identity of God Almighty hate all Christians? Is wikipedia your source?

allah is a stone god that was among hundreds in muhammad’s time. He chose his god’s name even though in reality it is satan/lucifer/devil.

The muslim jesus is not the Christian’s Jesus. Their jesus will do as all muslims are taught to do and kill all infidels (Jews/Christians and all non-muslims) when he comes with the mahdi. Convert to muslim or die. Don’t hold your breath….

The real Jesus (Hebrew = Yeshua), who is the Son of God (Yahweh) and has risen from the dead will explain it to you on judgement day if you refuse Him as Lord and Savior and refuse to acknowledge Him as King.

Just because the koran, joseph smith’s bible edition creating the mormons latter day saints, and numerous other religious sects utilize the name “Jesus” does not validate them as truth.

It only proves the Holy Bible is true and they need to steal some of it’s authenticity to “appear” possible to the uniformed and blind.

Please identify your religion as a muslim (if you are muslim) when making blanket statements like you did here which are inaccurate at least and lies in reality. If you are a Christian you really need to seek the Lord in prayer.

Reality being Yahweh is the Father and Yeshua (Jesus) is the son.

Mhu Cao April 25, 2011 at 9:14 pm

To paraphrase Louis Farrakhan, Islam is a gutter religion. Don’t bother to explain the truth to the ignorant Clowns of the Caliphate. They want an inevitable war to avenge past Crusades. Obama, the Head Jester, is greasing the skids for this. Turning your cheek is the way to get dead. Bowing your head in prayer makes one ready for beheading by a muslim. Seek the Lord but don’t be a target.

Jay March 10, 2012 at 2:03 pm

I know this old, and I am mainly writings for people like me who have stumbled upon this page. Do you know where YHWH came from? Do you know the Bible came about?

The Bible comes from older texts and oral stories passed down from each generation. This means, the accuracy of the stories is probably crap. Also, the stories come from probably even older religions that have been forgotten. So, when you speak about other religions “ripping off” the Bible. Think before you say this, our Text is not original, it never has been.

Also, for those banging on about how if you’re not Muslim in those countries and are sentenced to death? Do not forget our religion was once violent, too. Catholics and Protestants killed those who weren’t of the faith. It is NOT just a Muslim thing to kill people who are not of your religion.

Our God probably came from ancient tribes and grew into a bigger name than what he originally was. Allah and YHWH all come from some old religious start. There is nothing wrong with this, our religion has morphed into what it is today. Islam will change into something different in years coming. I mean, the Christian religion stems of the Jewish religion, and the Jewish religion stems from somewhere else. If it weren’t for the Jewish and it’s ancestors we would not have Christianity or Islam (whether their god comes from a Stone or not, they do borrow from the Bible).

All new religions are fresh and violent. Look at new Christians, how fresh they are and unaware that people just don’t believe the same way they do. I have been attacked many times by new Christians, usually because they’re Buzzed on their Religion and cannot understand yet that not everyone feels that way. This is how I see Islam, in years to come it will settle down and be sober like the Jews and the Christians.

lisa April 25, 2011 at 5:50 pm

that’s all fine and good – except that in Islam, anyone who doesn’t believe is an infidel to be destroyed. They don’t see it quite the same way you do. There is no tolerance for them – Allah whispers to them that non-believers are to be killed or subjected. Not lived next door to in peace. Why don’t you go polish your “coexist” bumper sticker so they know who’s not going to put up a fight?

Q April 25, 2011 at 5:51 pm

You are incorrect. Allah is the Persian moon god whom Muslims have adopted as their god. Jehovah is the God of the Christians and Jews.
You are correct however that Muslims trace their lineage back to Abraham just like the Jews/Christians. Abraham had an illigitimate son named Ishmael who the muslims are the descendant of. Then Abraham had a legitimate son with his wife named Isaac. Isaac is who the Jews trace theirs back to.
And before you say I hate Muslims, I do not hate any race or religion.

William Sullivan April 25, 2011 at 5:53 pm

Nathan, there is so much wrong with what you say, but it is rather aggravating that you obviously think you are right. Try reading the Quran, my friend, and you’ll find you are very wrong indeed. Islam sprang from the well of Judeo-Christian principles, but many of them were abrogated and corrupted by Mohammedan instruction. Personally, I don’t think Obama is a Muslim, I just think he too PC to be consistent. But to say Allah in fundamental Islam is the same God worshipped by Jews and Christians could not be more wrong. Fundamental Islam is more akin to Nazism than Christianity. Article I penned on the subject.

Killerut April 25, 2011 at 5:54 pm

Then, defend Muslim Sharia law.

gerrie April 25, 2011 at 5:55 pm

Is-Lam does not “trace it’s lineage to Abram! However Arabs do. Jew-d-ism does trace it’s lineage back to Abraham (Abram)AND Noah (Noe) AND Adam. Is-Lam traces it’s lineage back to the god “ALLAH”, who was a higher ranking god in the pantheon of gods who were adored by the population in Arabia and all over that area pre – 600 AD . Encyclopedic Knowledge, handy little tool indeed. Encyclopedias even contain somewhat accurate historical information from time to time, go figure.

IllinoisJoe April 25, 2011 at 6:03 pm

Sure. Ishmael came from Abraham, So?
Abraham was the father of many nations. What’s yer point?

The muslims also say that since muhammed came after Jesus, he is greater. I don’t see any evidence of that.

They also claim that islam is the religion of peace.
There is also no supporting evidence for this claim. None,
and volumes of provable evidence to the contrary.

muhammed took the Torah and the teachings of Jesus and twisted them to suit his ends. He was a looter, a torturer, and a pillager, a mass murderer, and a admittedly insane pervert who made up the rules as he went along enriching himself on the backs of conquered slaves and women.

That is not hate, that is historical and self-admitted fact..

There could be no better example of opposites than mohammed and Jesus.

I am aware of taqiyya. Most people are.
Anyone who hasn’t lived under a rock for a dozen centuries know enough about islam to rightly fear and hate it.

So go ahead and talk all day about the beauty of islam.
I ain’t buyin, pal.

Freedom and submission will not tolerate the other.
As a free man I reject islam completely.

Djinn April 25, 2011 at 6:08 pm

No genius, we object to religions whose members target American citizens and Christians for violence and killing in the name of their god.

Ken April 25, 2011 at 6:09 pm

Sure, but the Koran traces it back to Abraham’s illegitimate son, Ishmael. Not Isaac as clearly spelled out in the Bible. Ishmael was not the heir to God’s promise to Abraham. Also, there is NO way Allah is the same God as the God of the Christians and Jews. At least thost two give Him the same name. The Koran instructs Muslims to “kill the Jew wherever you find him”. Hardly the command of the God who calls the Jews His chosen people. Nice try!

jeff April 25, 2011 at 6:12 pm

Islam traces its lineage back to Abraham through Ishmael, Abraham’s son with Sara’s maidservant Hagar. Very similar stories in the Koran as you would find in the first 5 books of the Bible however the oldest written islamic documents date hundreds of years AFTER the death of the Prophet MoHammed. Jesus is mentioned in the Koran as a prophet but as far worshipping the same God; Muslims acknowledge a pre-Islam Kaaba, but primarily in the context of the religious traditions they believe they are continuing. Before Islam was created by Muhammad, the Kaaba appears to have been an important pagan shrine in Mecca. Allah was a moon god in that shrine. The christians worship the triune God-Father-Son-Holy Spirit. they are not the same God. Islam and the judaism do not recongnize Jesus as true man and true God. Religions all theologicoly differ and it just comes down to what you beleive= Faith. Because none of us were there.

whocares April 25, 2011 at 6:15 pm

Only reason it supposedly starts from Abraham is because they believe they’re all descendents of the bastard son Ishmael, but Islam didn’t come into being till the false Prophet Muhammad thought it up…and the reason many people strongly dislike that heathen religion is because unlike Christianity/Judaism, they believe its their right to forcibly spread Islam to all corners of the world

Bunky April 25, 2011 at 6:21 pm

Hey hot dog, what year was muhammad born??
I’ll bet it was a while after Abraham.
Since he founded islam how does the lineage get traced back?
By virtue of being human?

jb April 25, 2011 at 6:22 pm

haha…whatever dude…Mohammad ripped that shit off because he didn’t have any original ideas.

oliver klozhoff April 25, 2011 at 6:28 pm

But nobody with Bible names flew jetliners into the WTC. Did you know every sentence in your post was a question?

Dave2 April 25, 2011 at 6:31 pm

Well, other than the fact Allah is NOT the same God as Jehovah, I pretty much agree with your statements…

Except for the fact that Obama does not or can not show his long form certificate…with a doctor’s signature!

You may want to study up on the difference between Christianity and the Muslim Moon-God (why do you think they use a crescent moon as their symbol?)

Gina April 25, 2011 at 6:34 pm

Check your facts before you start blithering. Muslims cannot trace to Abraham without the Bible. Islam was started by a man claiming to talk to God. Catholocism was started by Jesus in Matthew 16:18. Don’t try to rewrite history!!!

Danny April 25, 2011 at 6:41 pm

Allah is not the same god worshipped by christians. Our God has a son and his name is Jesus. Jesus said: “If you have seen me, you have seen my Father.” Jesus didn’t acknowledged Allah. He acknowledged the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob… and his name is Jehovah.

Susan April 25, 2011 at 6:48 pm

I would like to answer the questions you asked. Please be aware that I speak for myself, not for any one of the other “geniuses” on this blog. I’m paraphrasing and leaving out all the hyperbole.

(1) Do “you” blah, blah, blah hate all religions that aren’t your own? No, I don’t hate any religion. You could worship your cat if you so desire. Just don’t try to make me worship your cat too.
(2) Do “you” just hate Muslims? Not at all. In America you can practice whatever religion you desire, but you must live under established laws. For instance, polygamy is illegal; hence, no more than one wife or husband no matter what your religious beliefs are. My problem with the Muslim faith is that they look at me, a Christian, as an infidel. Second class to anyone in the Muslim faith, except Muslim women of course. Sharia is another part of the Muslim faith that poses a big problem for me. Let’s just say the Constitution and Sharia law are polar opposites, and I’m sticking with my Constitutional Republic.

As far as the history of Islam, that’s great and all. Just understand Christians could never survive under Islam. Just look at what is happening to the Coptic Christians since the Egyptian “revolution”.

shepster April 25, 2011 at 6:49 pm

No, Not The Same. the god of islam has no son. The Christian God has a Son, Jesus. the god of islam telling followers to kill jews? that is also the god of the jews? I don’t think so.

Ron Ross April 25, 2011 at 6:51 pm

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the father but by me.” Therefore Christians do not worship the same God worshipped by muslims. If muslims consider him a prophet he would have to be a false prophet in their theology because of what Jesus said and who he really is – the virgin born, crucified and risen Son of God.

thisguysadouchebag April 25, 2011 at 6:57 pm

yes i hate all muslims… and you

killer b April 25, 2011 at 7:02 pm

everyone knows that, but we also know that the koran is a tool of hate and violence under the guise of peace.

Lester Spratt April 25, 2011 at 7:04 pm

Do you know that the Bible says of Ismael:
“He shall be a wild man;
His hand shall be against every man,
And every man’s hand against him.”
And somehow Islam is the religion of peace?

Just a quick point April 25, 2011 at 7:10 pm

Alah is not the same god as the Chrisitans. Jesus is God in the Christian faith but only a prophet in the Muslim religion……The whole basis of Christianity…..Christ………… : )

Jam April 25, 2011 at 7:16 pm

tell that to the Muslims

Roy April 25, 2011 at 7:22 pm

Did you know that Islam traces its lineage back to Abraham? You know, like Judaism and Christianity?

Islam attempted to co-opt Abraham from those hated Jews by proclaiming that Mohammed et al were his true descendants instead. That’s not the same thing.

Did you know that Jesus is considered a prophet in Islam and appears in the Koran 25 times?

And in Christianity Jesus is not a prophet. He is God. Big difference. The Koran gets him confused with Moses, who was a completely different person who lived hundreds of years before Jesus. (Mohammed couldn’t keep his borrowed Judaism straight.)

And that Allah is the same God worshiped by Jews and Christians?

No, Allah is a rebranding of an Arab moon goddess. Completely different from the Judeo-Christian God – although Western Muslims do like to equate them in order to appear more mainstream.

TIm April 25, 2011 at 7:25 pm

“Did you know that Jesus is considered a prophet in Islam and appears in the Koran 25 times? And that Allah is the same God worshiped by Jews and Christians?”

Oh, really?? If so, then why according to Islamic law is it punishable by death to become a Christian, or Jew??

Carolyn April 26, 2011 at 1:13 pm

Jesus is considered a prophet in the Koran. The muslim’s contend that Jesus comes to help the 12th Imam ( their messiah) rid the world of the Little Satan and the Great Satan. ( Jews and American Christians). He will arrive to assist the Imam when everything is ready to “rid the world” of the Jews and Christians. Hence the desire to acquire the nuclear devices. Much too much to write here.. worth studying though. Allah is not the same God, worshiped by Jews and Christians. It is punishable by death.. to leave the Muslim faith for any reason, especially to the little and Great Satan. Death is by the sword, or it is by spilled blood.

CP April 25, 2011 at 7:31 pm

Malachi 1:2-3 declares, “’I have loved you,’” says the LORD. But you ask, ‘How have you loved us?’ ‘Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?’ the LORD says. ‘Yet I have loved Jacob, but Esau I have hated, and I have turned his mountains into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals.’”
Jacob = Israelites (whom scripture says is His chosen people verses Esau = Edomites (which became muslim.)
God of muslims is not the God of the Bible (Holy Trinity). Prophet is not the same as Savior/Son of God.

Tom F April 25, 2011 at 7:44 pm

Would you say that people who recognize Obama as a senator but not as president are recognizing who he really is? Similarly, those who recognize Jesus as a “prophet” are at odds with Christianity, which recognizes Him as the Son of God. Islam says that it is blasphemy to say that God ever had a son, because God would never consort with a woman. Islam also says that Jesus did not die on the cross. So the most important tenets of the Christian faith are rejected as blasphemy by Islam. They are mutually exclusive.

VeeDub April 25, 2011 at 7:49 pm

Sura 9:30 And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!

– Nice of Allah to fight against himself — which makes sense of the most confused and perverse of all world religions!

SimplyB420 April 25, 2011 at 7:53 pm

For one Allah is not the same god worshiped by Jews and Christians. For two is it not true that Muslims believe that all infidels must die and that by being a Christian or a Jew you are an infidel? Islam is the religion of hate and oppression.. when was the last time a Christian girl got stoned to death for showing her face???

You're-all-bat-guano-crazy April 26, 2011 at 1:02 am

This long winded back, and forth is a microcasm of why we have wars in the middle east. It’s pure insanity. In America, the evangelicals hate the Mormons because they don’t follow their “path”. Yet the evangelicals love the Jewish residents in Israel because they feel that they will eventually convert them to loving Jesus, “the son of god”. Neither side is going to change in twenty generations of lifetimes.

How is it that the Mennonites, and Amish in America don’t involve themselves in such petty arguments, yet do so much in volunteer work to help those outside their communities? Live your life and believe what you believe, just please stop preaching to the “uncoverted”, usually the non-brainwashed segment of mankind. Thank you.

Bob April 25, 2011 at 7:58 pm

Wow, Nathan. Your ignorance is astonishing. Sigh, unfortunately that is not quite true. I bet you’re one of those morons with a “COEXIST” bumper sticker spelled with the Cresent, Star of David, and Cross. Yes, Jesus is mentioned as a prophet in the Koran, and yes Muhammed claimed that Abraham is the father of all three religions. In fact, he took the story of Abraham and twisted it to suit his own message. In Mecca, before his own tribe (the Quaresh) kicked him out for rabble rousing. Hear that carefully- his own tribe ran his ass out of town. He then went to Medina where his message became more and more militant and he bagan raiding caravans (stealing and killing, as it were). People joined his army- not a movement of peace. He became powerful enough to then conquer Mecca and most arabia- as a warrior. Ask any Muslim who might tell the truth (ha!). The kindly, open armed bs he spouted at first in Mecca was to try to woo richer tribes to his cause- especially the Jews, who rejected him. That’s why the special hatred towards them in Islam. Look up the word Nasik (sp). this means all the kissy face crap from the early days in Mecca are overridden by the words of war and hate as begun in Medina. Allah is not the God of the Jew or the Christian, and you are a dumbass. Please do the world a favor and go drown yourself in the nearest toilet.

Joe Blow April 25, 2011 at 11:21 pm

Rufus Choate April 26, 2011 at 12:26 am

Islam traces it origins to Muhammad a merchant in Mecca who borrowed Christian and Jewish theology learned from Christian and Jewish Merchants he met to form an amalgam of a vile creed that is designed solely to benefit and enrich Muhammad and his followers. Islam is a massive criminal totalitarian conspiracy that masquerades as a religion.

It is one of the greatest blights in the history of mankind.

theduck6 April 26, 2011 at 6:45 am

Did you know that none of your points…well are points? They are irelevent to the point of the article. The President has made reference to and special declarations about all the major holidays of Islam and only cursory homage to those of Christianity. Defend or detract but don’t obfuscate.

JT April 26, 2011 at 7:43 am

Did you know that Muslims do not believe Jesus is the Son of God, and, since He said He was, they believe he is a fraud and a liar.
They also believe that Jesus will proclaim Islam to be the true religion when He returns.

Gerry April 25, 2011 at 10:53 pm

Sorry, I don’t buy your B.S. for one moment. I was in Bulgaria a few years ago and saw how Christian churches had to be built BELOW GROUND LEVEL so as not to offend Muslim infiltrators from countries like Turkey. A lot of other Christian churches are built into mountainsides and mountain tops in order to protect them form ancient Muslim marauders. You can kiss my A%% if you think the Muslim religion is one of PEACE!!! What a joke!!! Nobody with a brain that FUNCTIONS believes that!!! Democrats do not have brains that function properly, so they will be overrun first by the future Muslim (idiotic) hordes.

Chico April 25, 2011 at 11:47 am

He’s hosting the Easter Egg Roll, but it’s a secular event — unless you consider the radical green movement a religion — that has nothing to do with Christianity. There’s not a big of Jesus in it for those who accept Him as their savior, which Obama claims to be. It’s fine. He’s a secular humanist, as Bill Maher says. Whoever you are, don’t pretend to be something you’re not.

MorganGray April 26, 2011 at 8:50 am

Well… technically, the radical green movement *is* a religion. It has its own deities (mother earth, sapient dolphins and so on), its own scriptures (earth in the balance, silent spring, and others) its own miracles (man-made global warming, saving the planet with electric cars), its own clergy (earth first for example), and even its own inquisition (ELF, ALF, greenpeace and other enviro-terrorists).
So… I guess technically the Spring Orb Roll was a religious event.

Christianity on the other hand is about relationship — man’s relationship with the Creator, Father God, through the atonement of his Son.

Old Cannonballs April 25, 2011 at 11:49 am

Honest John April 25, 2011 at 4:57 pm

Guess what, I believe you BUT so what? Obama is demonstrably first and foremost a secular leftist with the subjugation of western civilization as a primary objective. I think he sees Islam as simply a useful tool in punishing his enemies – as indeed it is. The irony is that he and his comrades will find themselves to be victims of the Islamic thugocracy as well – of course he/they think they are smart enough to avoid that.

Sgrady April 25, 2011 at 5:42 pm

I do not know if he is a Muslim or not but I can say based on the fruit clearly NOT found on his tree that he is not a practicing Christian. I listened to his speech in which he said, “The Bible contradicts itself, I certainly would not stone my daughters as is called for in the old Testament.” (referring to a law about clothing…he clearing knows nothing about the sacrifice of Christ and what it meant for atonement and ending the futile attempts to live solely under the law)

It has been said that our nation was infiltrated with alot of socialist/ marxcist, well I truly believe that it’s true and on the rise. John Morris April 25, 2011 at 12:16 pm

How many of these ‘mistakes’ does it take before anyone will admit what has been staring them in the face for years. Connect the dots people.

The President is a third generation Communist. Because he was raised Muslim for a few years and because the progressives and Islamic terrorists are in a marriage of convenience, The Won throws some press releases their way but I doubt he really believes because Communism is Godless.

Is there any evidence of his being a Christian? That ‘church’ he belonged to in Chicago certainly wasn’t. It was part of an unholy trinity: Wright is a socialist pretending to be a Protestant, Father Pfleger is a socialist pretending to be Catholic and Farrakan is a socialist pretending to lead a Muslim splinter group. His new ‘spritual advisor’ (that title should be a dead giveaway) is more a follower of SEIU than Jesus.

whatnot April 25, 2011 at 12:18 pm

Kind of gives the lie to Mr. Obama’s words professing his Christian belief. This silence is equivalent to speeches given when the words contradict the actions.

Obama doesn’t have a clue what Easter is about.

Bella April 25, 2011 at 12:20 pm

I have been saying all along Obama is NOT a christian, he is the sort of “christian” that gives TRUE Christians a bad name. He does NOT know what the Bible says (or if he does he certainly does NOT follow it). Obama claims to believe in Jesus ….hey guess what Mr Obama…..Satan believes in Jesus as well and well, we all know what a bad guy Satan is. To believe is NOT enough you also “have to walk the walk”. As Jesus himself said “If you love me you will obey what I command “John 14:15

Ken H. April 25, 2011 at 4:12 pm

Amen! I’m glad to see someone put it into Biblical perspective. I am not a Obama supporter, nor did I vote for him…I do pray for him as God commands. God commands us to pray for all men everywhere, and especially for our national leaders, with the overarching goal of peace and salvation. ” urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Tim 2:1-4)”

Does issuing WH statements for the Muslim holidays and not on one of the two most important holidays for Christianity mean anything at all? Clearly last years Easter statement that included Jews, Muslims, and Hindus got almost no attention–just like here. Just the evil FOX stirring up things and making it all up???

StopWhiningAlready April 25, 2011 at 1:11 pm

Exactly what did FOX make up? They simply reported exactly what happened (and didn’t happen). Reporting inconvenient truths is not the same as inaccurately reporting the facts or knowingly broadcasting fabrications. Get over yourself Lefty. Your days are numbered.

Steve Brown April 25, 2011 at 5:41 pm

Tom, last year’s Easter statement in which Obama strained to turn it into a Bahai “let’s just all get along” collectivist mishmash, followed by this year’s Passover message trying to equate Muslim uprisings to the Passover (wouldn’t do to just acknowledge the Jewish holiday by itself, might upset the Muslim world, so we’ll color it Muslim as appeasement) were so pathetic that Obama probably gave up altogether this time around – much like someone 14 moves into the game Twister who can’t make another move.

mr Obama’s action’s speak to his true allegiance

Obamaexposer April 25, 2011 at 12:32 pm

Helllloooo–the guy was born and raised Muslim, and if he had converted to Christianity Muslims around the world would be calling for his death (and justifiably, in the Koranic view). Hear any Muslims calling for his death? It’s not a coincidence that the “Christian” church he attended with his wife was more about hating Whitey than anything else.

whatnot April 25, 2011 at 6:07 pm

And if Mr. Obama is actually Muslim, isn’t he forbidden to cause the death of another Muslim? If that is so, and I hope someone knows this because I do not, could that explain the soft-pedaling and deference shwon to Muslim leaders and countrie? Of course, that belief could interfere with Mr. Obama’s postion of Commander-in-Chief of this country.

SimplyB420 April 25, 2011 at 7:56 pm

You bring up a very valid point as it is against Sharia law to convert to any other religion without death… hmmmmm

I definitely agree with the “Hating Whitey” part. I am also sure he is a Muslim at heart and should NOT be allowed to “LEAD” this country any longer. Actually, the word “LEAD” should be replaced with “DAMAGE” or “DESTROY”.

Old Cannonballs April 25, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I wish he were a one term wonder, but don’t be surprised if he gets re-elected. His masters control the media, both political parties, and the voting “black boxes.” Considering how many trillions he’s sucked out of this country and put in his masters’ pockets — they’re the transnational bankers, in case you haven’t figured it out yet — there’s a good chance they’ll decide to leave him in for four more years.

While the AP’s story carried on Drudge recently pretty much settles the dispute regarding the President’s birth certificate, he certainly doesn’t go out of his way to avoid fanning the flames that he’s anti-American and pro-Muslim. I’m sick of it all; sick of him and his ilk. This is what happens when you give some people a credit card they do not feel they need to repay. Keep it up. We want you gone from office in 2 years anyway.

Alex April 25, 2011 at 11:36 pm

When you idiots/Obama apologists stop falling back on the “Blame Bush” and “racist” cards, perhaps you’ll be able to put together a response actually worth listening to.

Obama has added as much to the deficit in his two and a half years in office as Bush did in EIGHT. And Barack’s added another war — COMPLETELY unnecessary, btw — to our plate, as well.

You’re a perfect example of how Obama got elected as President in the first place. He relied on the ignorant and easily duped.

Dan April 25, 2011 at 1:09 pm

I don’t know if I really mind that Obama snubbs Christians or that he doesn’t make an official statement. It would be insincere. At least he’s not being hypocritical on this part of his agenda. He has made it very clear that he is bending over backwards to include Muslims on every front, from bowing to Muslim leaders, to not choosing to prosecute Muslim leaders, to honoring Muslim holidays, to not supporting Israel, to recognizing that Muslims built America, etc… I think he needs a vacation. He is getting lambasted by the press too much for this trivial stuff.

john April 25, 2011 at 10:07 pm

I believe the “bow” to the saudi king was a very humble signal from the president of the United States to kingdom of islam, and the arab world.

BossManDaty April 26, 2011 at 8:36 am

If only the press would lambaste him on real issues. Such as Libya, Iraq, Afghan, jobs, the sinking dollar, outsourcing, immigration, national debt, deficit spending, the budget, the murders on our southern border…

JGreen April 25, 2011 at 1:11 pm

Why would you think a Muslim would celebrate Easter? A very simple but very serious question. Is there any educated person left who truly believes Barak Hussein Obama, born to a Muslim Kenyan is Christian and if so, how do you base your belief? Just curious.

SgtJT April 25, 2011 at 1:12 pm

And we’re surprised with POTUS totally excluding Easter…..? I had that same thought on Good Friday when all I read was that the first lady had canceled her earth day activities. Why even have it planned to begin with, when Good Friday and the true meaning of Easter/Resurrection Day should have been the main focus.
