This is West Wing Week, a weekly video propaganda message put out by the White House that shows some behind and in front of the scenes footage from President Obama’s week. I put it up occasionally because it is frequently interesting in its own right. I’m fascinated by the presidency and the White House and enjoy a glimpse behind the curtain, even if it’s done to suit the White House’s purposes.
This one is particularly nice for some lovely footage of Latin America. I’m a bit surprised that, given the criticism of the trip, the video doesn’t spend more time showing Obama conducting the war with Libya, which is what he should have been doing instead of travelling.
In this video you’ll get a look at the narrator, Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest, who is viewed by many as next in line to take over the top spot once Jay Carney decides he can’t stand it anymore. And you’ll watch the Chilean first lady as she is struck with a intense bout of Obamamania.
UPDATE: One of our readers, srdem65, made such good points about this I felt they belonged in the post instead of in the comment section. He wrote:
Don’t show the public:
photos of the FirstFamily, FirstGranny, FirstGodmother climbing onto AF1.
photos of the motorcade driving thru the slums of Brazil
photos of the protesters and their anti-Obama signs
photos of the men carrying UZIs while sitting in armored vehicles
photos of the FirstFamily, et al, having a good time
photos of the elSalvador slums
photos of the Prez trying to get into the WhiteHouse
most of all, no photos of our military aiming Tomahawk missles into Libya.
