As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Free Preventive Health Care?

Christian Bourge, the Disenchanted Journo, has a good taking apart of White House claims – in this case by Michelle – of a free preventive care lunch. The White House has tried to sell health reform as cost-free on so many levels. Whether one thinks of health reform as good or not, market forces still apply. There are a finite number of health care service providers. Prices rise when there’s more demand for a product. If one product is made free, prices will rise on other products given by the same providers. And if prices are not allowed to rise, the products will be RATIONED.

  1. Well stated. “Free” is easy for people who have never had to work for a living. “Free” is extremely easy when it’s served up at other people’s expense.
