As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Barton Sends Thank You Note to McChrystal

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), who recently apologized to BP for Obama’s “shakedown” treatment, today wrote a letter to Gen. Stanley McChrystal, whose powers of reason recently went AWOL when he allowed a reporter from Rolling Stone to follow him around.

A copy of the letter has been provided to White House Dossier by a source who asked to remain anonymous in order to provide information he shouldn’t be telling me.

Dear Stan,

Thanks so much for doing something even more stupid than I did the other day.Your asininity has totally knocked me out of the headlines and probably saved my job. Who cares about little ‘ole me when the guy running the Afghan war effort is busy cracking jokes about the vice president?

Letting a reporter from a hippie rocker magazine follow you around all day until you say something stupid is about as dumb as it gets for a military guy. What were you smoking pot? Just joking.

Anyway, just want to tell you how much I appreciate it. Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you after you are fired.

Best,

Joe Barton
Member of Congress
Washington, DC

  1. The media may be off Barton’s case for the time being but don’t expect House Democrats to lay off for two seconds. Just watch the tirade continue on C-Span later today if Republicans oppose legislation to give subpoena power to Obama’s oil spill commission.
