Actually, the report is quite ludicrous. It sites unnamed Democratic sources postulating Rahm will leave by the end of the year. “I would bet he will go after the midterms,” says one.
This is what’s known in journalism – as bad journalism.
In this case, a reporter finds a few people he can label as insiders to speculate on something that would make a REALLY COOL STORY, and then presents it as a really cool story. But its just a bunch of people shooting the shit.
But the piece set tongues yapping. Even the Wall Street Journal, which knows better, treated it like a really cool story with a short piece titled Rahm on the Run.
And of course if Rahm does leave by the end of the year, which is certainly possible given the burnout rate for the chief of staff’s job, the Telegraph reporter will brag into old age that he predicted it.
