Obama Nominates Clapper for DNI

President Obama this morning nominated Defense Department intelligence chief James Clapper to be the new Director of National Intelligence.

James ClapperAppearing in the Rose Garden, Obama said Clapper is the type who plays it straight and won’t hesitate to tell him things he doesn’t want to hear.

With Iran getting closer to developing nuclear weapons, the war in Afghanistan going so-so at best, China increasingly aggressive, more terror attacks being launched against the homeland, and Russia seizing portions of other countries, we need someoneĀ  unafraid to be the bearer of bad news.

Clapper would replace ousted former DNI Dennis Blair, who lost turf battles with the CIA and ultimately lost the confidence of the president.
